It's such a great idea to show examples of other shoes with similar midsole feel! I only hope you added a segment to show the sizing and fit of the shoe.
I'm sorry I need to comment a second time half way through this video because the quality of your content deserves so much more recognition! wow....keep it up man
I don’t take such words lightly trust me! Working on this channel has been a focus this year so words like this keep me going! Slowly but surely getting to where I want to be
Thank you so much Erwin! It takes a lot to put the videos together so it literally means EVERYTHING to get such feedback. Thank you for taking time and sharing it!
Hey man. I really enjoyed your video! You come across as such a genuine person, and I appreciate how you explain things with substantial reasons without beating around the bush. The editing of the video is fantastic as well, it adds a great touch to the overall experience. Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to more content from you!
You have no clue what such kind and encouraging words mean to me and little channel. I truly appreciate it. I’m doing my very best to grow the channel to one day do this full time so you will understand what this kind of feedback means to me. I truly am thankful
Great review Aubrey! The Torin 6 has been one of my favorite road shoes and completed my transition to 0 drop shoes on road & trail. I agree with you on the Tesco test. I dislike most of the new color ways (except the black) . Cheers! Also followed you on Instagram.
Sorry for the late reply Mark, thank you for checking out the video, these are great shoes and I love them but feel we need to get a refreshed look overall. HOKA has just done this with the rocket x2 and feel Altra need to follow suit
I genuinely find that all my Altra shoes fit true to size. All of them. It’s a very personal things but you’ll find that Altra shoes are very forgiving because of their foot shape design.
Absolutely… I’ve decided to do something about it though, I plan to run at faster paces for longer and I feel like I’m struggling because of the weight so let’s change a few things! How are you finding the 6s?
Finding small little things that create a signature. Still early days but I could have asked for a better started and bigger support. We will get there for sure. Thank you for the feedback
Great review. Thumbs up! I reviewed it as well and I have the Via Olympus which I agree I find it stiff and way too firm. This is an awesome update! But, I'll be most likely sticking with my Paradigm's as my daily driver.
Hi man, thank you for the review and great editing! Glad you mentioned the via olympus. I dont get on with that one. Pretty stiff for my taste so I am happy that you said its softer!
Really solid review, Aubrey. I agree with the comp to the Gel Cumulus 25. Very similar feel though I think the Torin might be a tad plusher. I've only got 10 miles thus far in my 7's but I am loving them so far. One note about sizing. These tend to run a bit small compared to some of Altra's other models like the Paradigm or Lone Peak (I have and love both). I'm a 10.5 naturally but find I need an 11 in the Torin 7 (as well as the 5 & 6).
Love your energy. I love most of my Altras. I dont have a Torin but I generally do not like the higher stack shoes. But it has more to do they dont match my pace somehow. I still cant get used to my Rivera 3s, but bought another pair of Tempos after nearly 600 miles on my first pair. And boy do I like the escalante racers 🎉
The Altra Escalante Racer is the best pair of running shoes I’ve ever worn by far. Simply amazing. I’m using them in most of my runs, like 90%. The remaining of 10% I’m in my Torin 7, but only when my feat feel beat up and heavy. All being said, I feel way better and much prefer the sensation of running in the Escalante Racer. The ground connection and responsiveness is amazing. The Torins feel like bricks on my feet but I like them when I do a recovery run. The final goal is to do 100% of my runs in Escalante Racer and throw away the Torins at some point. I also do some barefoot running from time to time and that’s an unparalleled experience.
@@clitaiulian4497 haha I completely recognise what you say. I like them so much. For me they feel completely the opposite of what you would expect. Comfortable even on long runs >hm distance. I love the ground feel, how they pick up the pace. I just love them.
Yooo I love that the Torin 4.5 is your first shoe! I stocked up on several of those since I love it so much hahah! Very nice video as always; So satisfying visually and a great review :D
Lleeetttsss gggoooo! Yeah… so with Vitality Insurance, you get 50% off 1 pair of shoes from Runnersneed and that was my chosen shoe for that year. Still love it til this day! Thank you for the feedback as always and for watching my channel from the early videos
Quality review. Just subscribed. Colourways are poor, Altra manages to make decent shoes, but to a style journey from 2000-2010. If you look at the latest Torin 6 colourways, or the Berlin marathon special edition - they are fresh, updated, new, trendy - whatever. I don’t mind the look of the shoe, it needs to meet their target market, but my word! Please change the colourways to suit the modern market! They don’t even have an all white version for a summer release… crazy.
I agree with you that they are doing great work in producing shoes but I just felt like egressing their look would be great. You also make a good point on the colours. I did love the red line peak 7 but just wished they did more to the road shoe line up.
I love your style of making a review! I have a question because I'm looking for my first running shoes with wide toe box. Will it be good pair of shoes for runs with speed about 5:00 minutes/kilometer? Maybe it is a silly question but I used to run with much less cushioned shoes. :)
We are slowly moving! As for the shoe… I have to say it’s one of my favourite daily trainers and also an amazing shoe for walking in. I have done all my workouts this week in it and I can’t fault it!
Definitely give it a go. For me personally, that was my main criticism because we haven’t had a radical redesign and refresh for a while and it’s needed especially as other brands are doing so much in that aspect
They finally got back on track after the disaster of 5 and 6. Back to what was amazing, the 4.5 plush. If they stayed with the superior quantic midsole they wouldn't have had to add 2mm stack height, but I'll take what I can get in the positive direction
@@AubreyRunning They shouldn't worry so much about weight with this shoe, its a daily trainer, not a tempo or speed shoe. There are more daily trainers out now in the 11oz./300+ gram range. It's no big deal.
Interesting!!! VERY important to transition slowly for those not used to zero drop, so it wasn’t a bad idea for you to begin that way since you needed to start out very slowly anyway!! I’ve learned that it’s the feel of the shoe that matters rather than the physical drop! The Alphafly feels more zero drop than the Torin for example. The Cloudsurfer 7 sure has a big noticeable drop which I personally don’t like!
Absolutely, any shoe will come with a learning curve but the zero drop shoes come with a steeper one. Agree with you 100% Bev! It’s got to be the shoe that feels good to you. For example the Alphafly NEVER worked for me at all, whereas the Vaporfly is my absolute favourite.
This was my main criticism of this shoe but certainly not in those words 😂😂😂. I think it looks good but I want it looking better and current. I want the shoe looking as good as it performs. It’s a great show but needs a refreshed look.
Loved the review! You have a new subscriber! I just bought this shoe in the blue and yellow colorway and I love it! I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
no offense but pretending like 5 grams makes any difference to anything what so ever is really silly. Also the whole "foot shape" thing is basically a gimmick. remove the insole from this shoe and compare it to any regular running shoe. it's the same. in fact a 2E in many brands is wider in the toe than Altras widest last, which is the OG last. This model doesn't even use that last, this model uses the standard last which is even more narrow. Altras imo do not fit most feet well. They tend to be narrow in the heel, which is good and fine, but they're also narrow in the middle of the foot, which is where most folks have issues with the fit, then they get nice and wide towards the front, you know like basically every other modern running shoe, BUT it's mostly on the medial side only. Most folks that try on Altras will have their lateral side hanging off the side of the midsole at the midfoot and pinky toe. They aren't shaped right at all. I have 2 Altras. Two of their most expensive shoes and honestly the brand is not impressive. they make a ton of poorly informed designed choices and you can tell they don't have the same kind of talent as these bigger brands. Also their quality is in the tubes since they got bought out by VFC. I will say that one thing they get right is stability. Most of their shoes are quite stable inherently and that matters. Also they really killed it with the midsole on the Via Olympus 2. For me, that midsole is just right for max comfort. I just wish the shoe was more flexible and maybe had better colors or looked a little better. It doesn't look like a $165 shoe.
Believe me I’m not that influenced by weights of running shoes. Also… regardless of differences of opinions, thank you for taking time to share your views with me. I actually appreciate that and find it very rewarding when people do that
