dry bread goes into borsch and into stew. let it soak up the liquid and then eat it. that's traditional way if you don't have fresh bread to go with your liquid lunch/dinner.
pack with borsch is lunch menu. stew is dinner.

I have never eaten borsch with dry bread nor have i ever seen people eat it like that. Only way i have eaten it is with soft rye bread.

Great review there Nathan i was wondering what the final version of these were going to look like granted i had a good laugh when i saw the shipper just slapped a label on the mre. I see they changed the pouch size and added ration heaters, plus a few sides for breakfast. A few months ago i had the "pre-final" version of this. Looks like the mains stayed the same size too. Mine were 350 to 500 grams each. Easily a lot of food for the mains. Thanks for sharing and glad to see Foreign MRE will get some of these in. Hopefully packed a little better lol. Thanks for sharing!

First comment. I have had the old style rations, but, have seen the newer ones. This should be good sir. Awesome FRH as to be expected. Components of all 3 meals looked delicious! Good question, on addition of water, to extra heater pad. I have no clue, LOL. Flip A coin? I will have to look for the new style ration. All reviews have been positive, just like my old style was. Great review, and, ration. I am impressed friend. Peace, John! Great work.

I have Action Menu Ration Heaters. You might have seen them in my Videos. I heat everything with them that doesn't come with an FRH. Cans, pouches I don't care. I have small and large packs to go in and heat. the bags themselves you can use 30-40 them. Haven't seen them available in the US yet though. I heard it's pretty hard actually to get FRH's in the US.

Nobody actually eats them in a one day. You gotta really be active physically, as in say - whole day, stopping only for meals, to have such a hunger to eat each part of the meal. Usually it lasts for 1.5 days, also you can combine, say dinner pack from 2-3 MRE and share it with comrades, and there will be enough of nutrition for 3-5 people who worked hard.

Wow what an awesome and huge ration review Nathan lol. I sure hope those guys can set and eat for like two hours at a time lol, cause they’ll need to with all that food. If you’re still hungry after eating that ration it’s your own fault lol, cause either you didn’t eat any of it, or you’re a vegetarian lol. They gave like an insane amount of food in that ration lol. I am glad to see some of these countries that were still using cans as a ration, make the switch to retort pouches and FRH’s, huge weight savings there. Plus easier to pack and easier to open and cook.

Nathan's MRE - I'm certainly not familiar with advanced camera techniques. With that said, I would have to say I find your presentations extremely well done. Also, I've found, in most cases, Eastern European/Eurasian military cuisine to be brown to grey and earthy in color, but, as you stated, especially in this review, quite satisfying and flavorful. In short, I think this was a very thorough and entertaining review. (Sorry, I'm a bit verbose tonight - I was watching some Congressional hearings earlier for a few laughs.)

Those so-called separatists demanded FREELY and DEMOCRATICALLY to separate from Kiev (because they are Russian ethnics) at the very beginning of CIA-made coup back in 2014. do you know how Ukrainian government replied ? MASSACRE one after the other against them which forced Putin to support the freedom fighters(also know in US media as rebels).
I do not believe in any God, but, if god do exists I beg them to revenge the 3 million North Korean baby & child starved to death because of US and it's allies' economic sanctions in 90s. , and for the 1.5 million human killed due to starvation in Iraq also in 90s and also for same reason. , and for killing indirectly mere 1 million human being in Syria by supplying the Islamists with ALL kinds of lethal weapons. and for killing unknown number if Libyans. and for killing almost 25,000 Russian-speaking Ukrainian in Donbass region east and south of Ukraine. and and and..

Great review of a fantastic looking ration. A LOT of food, but I think the calorie count would not be as high as one of the Russian cold weather rations. Lots of rice and those crouton/Melba toast bread things. Did you add the calories of this?
Kasha can be made with one of buckwheat, wheat, barley, rye, or rice. I’ve seen most of them used in one form or other in various Russian and Ukrainian rations.
I think you reviewers are making your coffee too weak. I think a standard cup in Europe is around 150 mL, or 5 US fluid ounces. And no dang milk, unfortunately.

It is traditional ukrainian bean soup:
yellow split peas, white beans, potatoes, onion, carrot, beef, bacon, sunflower oil, garlic, dill, parsley.
he had to add there croutons and black pepper for better taste

When you actually have to eat MRE’s dishes to live not a passion or a hobby you get creative and that’s the reason why sometimes you see things like seem random but you hold on to a couple of them save them for a different meal vice versa and after a while you gather A lot of light and I mean light compact items for you mix up your own things that works for you it’s very handy have things that are convenient for a quick snack for me I can’t not over eat breakfast lunch or dinner I can’t have a full meal it just does not work for me and I’m really sluggish. So for me and midsize meal breakfast and dinner very light lunch and then periodically having a quick snack and honestly I think that’s how these MRE’s at least for the U.S are designed for it’s not one package fits all because it just doesn’t work I know there were people that would eat every damn thing I swear to God including the dang matches LOL and then there were other people like me and then there were people that would eat once or twice a day and they would just hold onto all the other stuff and then barter in trade for things that fit their pallet and hey when you’re in the stressed-out situation anything to make you smile make you for a moment forget what’s going on it’s priceless so MRE’s are more than just to fill your gut!! And to be perfectly frank I think that’s intentional I think they are intentionally designed for that simplest things with the interactions can go a long ways for morale no different from when you’re a kid trick-or-treating somebody love skittles other one loves Reese’s peanut butter cups! And you both would make the trade and both you would think that the other person was the sucker lol

It's a crazy amount of food because it's two meals worth. Split it up into the meals you are meant to eat and do breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Nathan's MRE I have made dishes at home with brown rice and vegetables and protein and sauce that are just as big, probably bigger with no problems. I can eat 4000-4500kcal in a single meal because i have a huge apetite, i used to be overweight.

If I may answer, and, I believe Nathan would agree with this response, I hope? We do not know, what chemicals used in ration heaters , from foreign countries? If, anything similar, to U.S., heaters, would be , just A good idea to wipe down, if time. Better even, rinse off with hot water. U.S. ration heaters, commonly called , FRH'S, Stands for , Flameless Ration Heaters. The compounds that we use, to produce heat are, Magnesium, salt, Iron filings, or, iron oxide( rust), and some we do not know. When water added, creates A chemical reaction. This generates the heat, needed to warm up the meals. Those components combined together, is why most people, either wipe off, or rinse bag. Probably would not kill you, but, one should ERR to the safe side of things in rations. My humble input on your question, We shall see what Nathan says? Peace, John, AKA, Magnum.
