@@NathansMRE We have Fisherman's Friend (FF) here in he U.K so if you have a local shop that sells English try there you may find other flavours?
@@NathansMRE If it says Muesi it normally includes Fruit and Nut. If it just the Oat flakes it normally says Oats or Porridge Oats.

Being a Military Brat, I always loved the German MREs. Liverwurst Paté was always my favorite.
ooooh that chocolate has marzipan in it. This is amazing what a great ration. That Kale and worst dish looks very much like what my mom would make us when we were kids (she is dutch) Earl Grey tea is my favorite I do sweeten it because I find it brings out the flavor of the bergamot. I am jealous you have fruit soup. The center of the chocolate bar is Marzipan (a paste made from almonds and sugar) Carson you did a great job assembling this ration. Thanks for the awesome review.

Yeah, the Lyoner is actually "pig jam". The name comes from the eastern French city of Lyon, and Lyoner generally means sausage from very finely ground meats and is very popular under either that or the name "Fleischwurst" (meat sausage) in Germany and beyond.

The filling of the chocolate is marzipan silly. Marzipan is some sort of ground up almond mass and sugar.

Treat the Fisherman's Friends with caution if you have not tried them before, they can be overwhelming as they are on the strong side - will definitely clear your sinuses.
I didnt knew that Marzipan isnt a thing in the USA
Marzipan is made from Almonds and sugar sometimes it has licore in it and the cheap version is from apricote seeds
the tomato soup is for a 150 to 250 ml situation and made for a mug

Good call on if there was currant in that fruit "pie filling". The picture on the package showed Black Currants with the raspberries. Black Currant has such a distinctive flavor. It's popular all over Europe but for some reason we don't find it here.
Kaltschale is a thing in german since the 60 i think and you also could make it with milk/Buttermilk/Cream dont know if there is Buttermilk in the us?

Fisherman's Friend is sold as a very strong cough drop. In the States
The fishermenas friend are so nice when you have the flue the realy strong ones clear your nose like horseraddish but in a good way and you can buy them with different flavours addet like lemon or cherry and new are chocolate with orange

He should sell these, I’d buy them. Really cool to use a mix of civilian and bundeswehr items, they all seemed to complement each other well. The fruit soup in my experience man depends on the weather. It’s usually better warm but if I’m outside in the summer any drink hotter than room temperature makes my stomach turn.
You can actually get the fisherman’s friend mints at Walgreens, at least you can here in Michigan. They have several varieties.
Karsten is great, man. You look like you've really enjoyed this. That'd be normally two days' food, or one day for a cold weather ration. Fairly decent calorie count, but a wonderful range of tastes and flavours.
I should get around to sending you Americans some Aussie dried apricots. Darker, more dehydrated, and a nice and tangy sourness.
Fisherman's Friends have eucalyptus and capsicum (bellpepper) tincture in them.
Dutch drinking chocolate is the duck's nuts! Unlike the stuff we get here, which is only 10 to 20% cocoa and the rest is sugar and/or non-dairy creamer.
Was it you that loved the kissel (fruit soup) in a Latvian or Lithuanian ration a while back that I posted a link to get the commercial product? If it was, did you get some?

I think the brotaufstrich isn't cheese but rather margarine, according to my German friend it basically means buttery spread. Brotaufstrich apparently literally means "stuff you spread on bread".
Well, here's the deal. So far, that was the "Wurst" review. CORRECTION: What I mean is it was SUPER COLOSSAL GOOD. Wow, Carsten broke the record for sending a bacchanal of gutes Essen aus Deutschland. Danke, Carsten.

@Nathans MRE info how you should do a Kaltschale: mix the powder with hot water lat it cool don put it in the fridge and you get a Jelley best to eat with vanilla sauce.

Also the closest you could come to thr fruit soup is the Mountain House Raspberry crumble.
Lyoner = fine ground pork wurst (sausage), very light smoked. Not unlike a vienna sausage. That yellow "Brotaufstrich" (="bread spread") is a kind of shelf stable butter/margarine type thing. Not really cheese.
Trader Joe’s is a California company started in California in the 1950’s. Wonder is another company is using the same name in Germany.

Just a bit of information: Lyoner is a french sausage, Stracciatella is an Italian icecream flavour and Fishermens Friend is English. "Schweizer Art" just means "Swiss style" ie original since müsli was invented in switzerland and for the love of god dont eat it hot wtf.

This is not a military Mre, this is a care package or home built survival ration from my good friend Carsten in Germany, he sent in several rations so me , the German epa , dutch energy ration etc
