Great video Nathan! I forgot about those rations. Lots of on-the-go items that would come in handy for a camping or fishing trip.
For what is considered a 24h Ration they could put a little more in the form of beverages inside. They could just add the small beverage packs like 1 or 2 would take no space and make people a lot more happy.
Good, honest, and fair review. I just question DOD's decision to construct the FSR. It is slim pickings and I'd want a little more going into combat than Bridgford, Combos, & Jack Link's. On the other hand,a couple of tracer rounds whizzing by my head might encourage me to toss the tortellini.
It was a good idea but if you tried to live off this it would be tough after 1 day, im sure a soldier would be craving actual food
I bet those Italian bread sticks would have been great with the tuna & mayo
Nathan you always have special rations. Trash bag can also be used for unused portions. The Mayo is meant to be mixed with the tuna. Yeah fat free mayo is an oxymoron. Mayo is eggs and oil, so fat free is weird chemicals. The tuna might be good on the breadsticks. Add more water to the shake make it drinkable. Thanks for the review.

I got one of those ForeignMRE sporks on the way to me, I bought that when I bought 2 Chinese rations for next month's review. I just looked up fat free mayo ingredients, one the list I found it says "cellulose gel" which may be the substitute for the fat

Kaylynn Strain - What I like about the Chinese Ration is they're basically indestructible. Unless there's a breach in the retort pouch, I see those puppies going on for years and year. The down side, which you may have noticed, is the rice menus (practically most) seem undercooked or drier than what rice should be like by my expectations. The plus is, less water, less chance of degradation or spoilage. I doctor them by heating unopened retort in boiling water, then opening and pouring in 4oz. of the boiling water and let sit in heat protective bag. Then it's pretty good.
I don't know why.....but I love watching these things while I'm eating.

The jerky had 2 flavors. BBQ and Teriyaki the package said, you only read off the BBQ. That might be why you thought that one was a little off, you were expecting BBQ.

Yea I saw that he missed it as he was reading the packaging and then when laying it out... and then hoping he would figure it out / notice it (especially since they were different colors), but nope.
Tuna goes on the breadsticks. Breakfast, lunch and snacks. Like it!
Crush the combos into the drained tuna and then add the mayo and it’s a crunch mayo cheese salad.

Very good review. Some of that food does'nt look all that appetising but as you say, if you were out in the sticks with nothing else then this ration would fill you up and more.
Those Italian bread sticks gave me some of the worst heartburn in my life. They tasted ok, but really messed me up.

Steve Shepard there is no such thing as fat free, especially with Mayo you can NOT make mayo without oil 9any kind of cooking type of oil) and all cooking type of oils have fats in it, including sunflower, coconut, olive and yes even hemp oil and etc, they ALL have fats. So logically mayo can never be called fat free
Strangely enough I found a case of these on a Canadian military surplus website, they also sell single ones too. So you don't have to go on Ebay

Man you guys had the good mre’s i had c rats. I had a chance to taste some of the late 90’s early 2000. So much better than we had in the 70’s ...shakes too? Wow
What about using the breadsticks WITH the tuna and mayo?
I think you definitely should've heated the bread items up! I've seen tons of reviews for them and all of them say they taste so much better hot. Great video though! I just recently got to try the vanilla shake and pound cake and I gotta say even though I don't typically like vanilla shakes, I enjoyed it!. Hey do you got a link for the knife?(; lol on a serious note how about a link for the ration please! I'd love to try it!
How do you not instantly know that the mayo is for the tuna? Fat free mayo had aspartame instead of sugar. Also the preservative agents in the shelf stable stuff is by far the most unnatural stuff in that mre

Aspartame or sugar has nothing to do with the fat content of a food.
"fat free mayo" is a culinary oxymoron by itself. The ingredients list sugar as well as high fructose corn sirup - so no, this had no aspartam in it.
It's Sugar, starch, soy and emulsifiers with some vinegar and food coloring. "Edible lubricant" would have been more fitting - it's no mayonaise for sure.

Personally I think that's not a very good 24hr ration it's just snacks and only one coffee. That's a on the go long rang patrol ration.
I believe there should have been tortillas for the tuna.
This is probably the ONLY MRE i would actually eat most of. I am the pickiest person in the world and i dont know why i watch food reviews for shit id NEVER eat. Litteraly starve to death before eat.

I'm always horribly disappointed whenever I get a Tropical Punch in an MRE or FSR or any US ration. I'm one of the odd minority who actually loves the Grape beverage base powder. Haha
I dont mind most of them but yes usually tropical punch is last on the list

Lemon-lime is my go to, it tastes the same as when my dad used to bring home MREs after being out in the field 30 years ago.

Generally i like your vids.... But WHY OH WHY do you try and cram everything onto the tray at the same time lol. Sheesh... It's so jumbled and clustered. I mean you could separate things by meals like breakfast, lunch and dinner if you had enough food for it. It's so frustrating lol

First Strike rations are probably going to be eaten one thing at a time rather than several things at a time, basically when you get a breather and need to keep up your energy. Whether this is done in actual practice (limiting to issue right before going into combat in a new area where support is not going to be for at least 24 hours) or not.
