The ceiling fan reflection in the fruit cocktail made it look like a spider was in there.

I bought one of those! Same seller, same production and expiration date! I didn't want to eat it yet because it expired on my birthday and that's special to me, glad I can see what's in it now before I open it :)
I just went through the Module F. If you break up the biscuits into the soup it helps to add volume. I do agree that this is not enough for an adult who is even moderately active. It helps to have a beer or two with each meal!
On second thought, I think these meals are meant to be used while in close proximity to a cafeteria. Not meant to be a self sustaining ration pack, IMO.
Nathan went to the Aldo Raines School of Italian Language. My guess is that most Italian soldiers in the field eat hot chow in mess tents, like most Russian soldiers. These rations therefore, don't need to be as high quality as those of larger or wealthier nations, whose soldiers are far removed and may have to rely on MRE type meals more frequently.

The bland taste would not be too spicy for anyone. You can always add salt and pepper. In the field, you are glad to have anything as you are burning calories like crazy. Finding the time to eat is another matter. Always ate my rations in the field cold due to time constraints.
Is that a cieling fan reflecting in the fruit salad or are you being held hostage by a giant spider?

I like to imagine he has a giant spider overlord forcing him to make MRE video instead of vehicle repair to appease all the hungry spider babies. Cause, Spiders dont drive.

Great review Nathan! I am not sure where but i also remember watching a review of an Italian mre and the mains looked very bland as if they came straight from the grocery store. Quite a shame. I did find it oddly funny that while you were doing the review it looked like there was a spider sitting on top of the fruit cocktail. Thanks for sharing!

Okay dude, I’m gonna level with ya. I enjoy the amazing rations you get and some of the reviews. This is a 24 hour ration, did you not want to break it up into three parts for time constraints?
I think it woulda been better for you to break it up, breakfast, lunch, dinner. That way you could really focus on the separate components instead of smashing them all into one video.
I’m glad you finished some of them off. I was wondering if you ate the rest of everything off camera. Thanks for the last “after” scene.
What an awesome review Nathan, I’d say the storage conditions this was in, probably compromised a lot of the flavors of everything. When it was fresh it was probably all really good lol.
Is that a spider reflection in the fruit can?
Remember, the dates on European rations are ordered in the correct fashion, i.e. Day, Month, and Year. They are also Best Before, not Use By, so everything was fine.
I would’ve mixed the peas and tuna with the minestrone, and the mackerel with the soup. I almost missed the salt. A little pepper or Tabasco would’ve revived this thing.

Overall dissapointed in this ration
With it being French, I thought you would enjoy it more. I'm stuck in the states because I'm disabled, and my son has severe nonverbal autism. The only adventurous thing we have to look to is foreign rations or MREs. We will definitely be dodging this one, but we appreciated all the effort you put into your mre ration videos! Thumbs up and cheers for your effort!

Looks like a ration where they didn't really structure a menu, just put enough calories and stuff in.
I did a Italian Ration recently too. I wasn't too impressed either. Also what are these soldiers supposed to drink? Coffee all day? Oh and the yellow tablets were bran tablets.
alittleolder every soldier bring a bottle of water in the backpack, if the soldiers are supposed to drink coffee is because the coffee helps you to stay awake, what should you drink in a battlefield, a cup of pepsi?

In the lunch pack, one was vitamins and the other bran tablets.
bummer there was no pepper to put in the soups, it is neat that there were a few very usable extras put in this ration

Good review of a pretty strange ration for an entire day. You're right. I could knock that off in one meal and a snack. No real breakfast. Very "wet" with the soup and bean stew. At least you're not sucking down litres of water to stay hydrated.
18:00 Like hospital food. Yeah, but to me it looks like you told someone they were going out camping and go into a supermarket a buy some pre-prepped food you can just whip the lid off the can and eat. No real regard to a variety of taste or real thought to planning a menu for an entire 24 hours.

Thanks for the nice review Nathan. LOL As I watch this I am having homemade pasta fagoili. What a coincidence. BTW the yellow tabs are fiber pills. Be careful they work well and fast. I have say unfortunately the canned entrees in the Italian rations are poor representations of real Italian meals.
Maybe you were supposed to add the fish to the soups?
As to mixing everything up into one meal, just as well considering how bland they are- do Italians eat that little for breakfast?

Huh, kinda bare bones ration. And so much for: breakfast Is the most important meal of the day ( serving it up Gary's way). Although candy for breakfast is cool.

In italy we don't eat a big breakfast like us or uk we just eat some little sweet and something to drink that's it
I know. Cereal bars in the dinner box? I would’ve had those in the first 2 boxes.
I'm not sure that I'd want to spend another day in combat after that ration!
Damn I'm early but always great to see you upload! With all the crackers you would think they would have some type of jam or even honey in the ration. Its definitely not a lot when its all laid out. But I guess they can mix and trade with other personnel.
They are probably for eating the fish with.

ok, perhaps not the greatest 24 hr. ratpack, but lets be honest folks when you're in the field, you get hungry, even crappy food can taste great. LOL! (this I can attest to having eaten a 1st gen spaghetti and meatball for breakfast on an op). Gotta admit that little esbit looked pretty useful. kinda wish I had one like that it.
NATHAN whats the best mre ? French, This Italian, Russia ? I want to hold a Christmas MRE party with Japanese candies for desert, everybody gets a number and then blind choice of MRE

Molto bene signor Nathan. In Napoli we call the pasta e fagioli, "pasta fajhool" and the little pastas are ditalini, biscotto dolce is "biscotto dool-chay". Capisci, si?

Mama Mia. Nathan goes italian. First: Great review, the mackerel looks very tasty to me. Never had one in oil, only type i ate so far is smoked mackerel. Second: Usually i would say italian food is "molto bene" , but this ration is definitely not in my opinion

No more than 3 out of 10. Not very well thought out, just thrown together. The soups and fish didn't look very apetizing really.
Very cool Nathan. Great looking 24 Hr. ration. Breakfast, Toothbrush overload, wow. Toothpicks, and Awesome stove !! Sweetened condensed milk Is A wonderful multitasker. Lunch , Minestrone, tuna, snacks, all look good. Dinner, Pasta and beans, Mackerel, looked good. Combined, it all looked like A heck of A meal ! I would be happy to make A meal out of that ration. The ration is different, and, I enjoyed the review sir. Peace, John.

They look like generic food from the 1990s, before generic brands actually started putting effort into their labels.
Looks pretty basic with an emphasis on sundries. But ask any ancient Roman and I bet he'd jump all over this! Bet it beats the he'll out a his ration of hard tack, pork fat and lentils!

NATHAN: While I appreciate the reviews, you really need to take a page from Steve1989's reviews and pre-translate what you open. All it takes is pausing the camera. I find it difficult to watch you stumble over easy words. Please, practice what you are going to say and translate before the camera is running?
Really like your video's but there all too long, so I enviable end up jumping through them, and that's really annoying. If you could do a series of video's in less than 10 minutes, that would be great.
