      You don't need to use both a face wash/soap and CeraVe Foaming Cleanser; just choose one for washing your face. You can also use one in the morning and the other in the evening.

(I have normal, to a bit oily skin, especially during summer, and have multiple little areas where black and white heads focus, as nose or chin; I don't use retinol, toners or additional products, I am just using this one, the foaming clenaser, with moisturizer and sun screen)

      Did you mean to refer to breakouts? However, they could indeed be triggered if your skin doesn't tolerate salicylic acid well. Additionally, overuse could potentially lead to over-exfoliation of the skin, which can also cause breakouts.

      The cleanser is good in the evening but too much in the morning. If i let my skin dry completely after cleansing, it feels a little tight, and the skin flakes a little around the mouth.
      Last year i used epiduo for acne and the cleanser was a part of the dryness and burning sensation. I still struggle with mild/moderate acne.
      Now I use CeraVe hydrating cleanser in the morning, along with hydrating serums (snail mucin, niacinamide).
      I do skin cycling, so 1. evening I use bha 2% and 2. Tretinoin. 3. Night is just a moisturizing rutine.
      I tolerate this very good.
      I know it is the cleanser that makes me feel a little tight, because I use a lot of hydrating ingredients. So I was just wondering if i could use the CeraVe foaming oil cleanser for morning and evening cleanse, and leave out the double cleansing. That way i can keep it simple and budget friendly.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, you're using a lot of drying ingredients in your skincare routine.
      But when you say you let your skin 'dry completely,' what exactly do you mean? Do you air dry, pat it dry, or wait for 5-10 minutes for it to dry completely? If so, why do you do that, especially in the morning? 🤔 I suspect that the tight feeling could be due to the hydrating ingredients. Do you apply a lot of product, or do you even apply them to wet skin? I highly doubt that the cleanser is causing this. It might be the residue from the last product you used, and you're only noticing it because of the cleanser in the morning. When used on its own, the cleanser may reveal flaky skin. Otherwise, the hydrating ingredients might just seal it in, creating a film that prevents you from noticing the flakiness.

      @charrle5208 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Regardless of what ingredients i use in my routine, could you answer my question about the CeraVe foaming oil cleanser? Can I use it just on it's own to remove sunscreen if i have oily skin, is there no cleansing oil needed? I don't want to use 3 different cleansers altogether,.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I had forgotten about that. However, it's important to clarify that it may not be the cleanser alone causing this reaction, but rather the rest of the routine. This is something that people reading the comment might misunderstand, as it might seem like the product is being unfairly criticized. That's not to say you couldn't be allergic to an ingredient in the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser-that's a risk with any skincare product.
      As for the CeraVe Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser, its effectiveness depends on the sunscreen you're using and the specific filters it contains. But in general, an oil or balm cleanser can break down all these filters because it contains oils or fats. These fats can effectively mix with and dissolve the oil-based components in sunscreens, makeup, and excess sebum on your skin. Subsequently, the cleanser can be rinsed away with water, taking the sunscreen or makeup with it.
      Therefore, you could simply use an oil or balm cleanser on its own, and it will effectively remove any sunscreen or makeup you're trying to remove.

    Hi, i noticed that in the other videos you made about this exact cleanser, you let the cleanser first fully foam in your hands before applying onto your face. However in this video, you don't let the cleanser foam by rubbing the cleanser with your hands, but instead you let the cleanser only foam on your face. Is there a reason why this changed?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, I did not even notice this. Generally, I like to rub it between my hands before applying it to the face. However, I guess in this one, I got too distracted with my explanation haha 😂. It isn't wrong as long as your hands and face are wet so that it can foam 😊.

      I always mention that using a moisturizer is an optional step because, depending on how oily your skin may be in the first place, using that cleanser can make the skin a bit too dry - not always, but it can happen. Yes, that's what it mentions on the packaging, but both the lotion and PM moisturizer can work and are similar in texture. You could also use a gel-type moisturizer instead.

      Hello,
      Yes, I think so.
      Here's how I would recommend structuring your routine:
      AM:
      Start with CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser.
      Pat the skin dry.
      Apply The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA.
      Wait for 30-60 seconds.
      Use either The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% or Olay Regenerist Vitamin C + Peptide 24.
      Wait 1-2 minutes.
      Finish with sunscreen.
      PM:
      Use CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser.
      Pat the skin dry.
      Apply The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5.
      Wait for 30-60 seconds.
      Follow with The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion.
      Wait 1-2 minutes.
      Optional: Use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel if you experience dryness.
      Twice a week, use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution following these steps:
      Clean your face with a gentle cleanser. Ideally, use a foaming cleanser as it generally removes everything more effectively, or an oil or balm cleanser.
      Pat your skin dry and wait 5-10 minutes for the skin to fully dry.
      Apply the peeling solution, and rinse off after no more than 10 minutes.
      Apply moisturizer.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      Overall, the setup looks good. However, the creams and lotion formulations can generally contribute to clogged pores, even though they're not comedogenic. This happens because these ingredients can create a barrier on the skin's surface that may trap dead skin cells, sebum, and other impurities, potentially leading to clogged pores. Therefore, products like Benton Goodbye Redness Centella Spot Cream, CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion, and CeraVe Eye Repair Cream might not be the best options for your needs.
      My suggestion would be to eliminate them from your routine. If you feel the need for extra hydration, consider using a gel moisturizer like Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel, G&G Hydration Station, or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan. Generally, the Snail Mucin should provide enough hydration for you.
      Here's a possible regimen you could try:
      AM:
      CeraVe Foaming Cleanser
      Pat dry
      Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence (wait 30-60 seconds)
      Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick: Mugwort + Camellia SPF 50
      PM:
      Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Sensitive (the blue one) - consider switching it for a cleansing balm like G&G Mighty Melt Cleansing Balm
      Use the balm on its own or follow with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser
      Pat dry
      Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner (wait 30-60 seconds)
      Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
      Optional: Apply the suggested gel if needed (it may not be necessary for your skin type, but you can try it if you feel something is missing)
      You could still use the BHA power liquid during the week, but it might not be needed since you're already using the AHA/BHA toner. Regarding the Kiehl's mask, I haven't tried it, but my experience with such masks is generally not positive. They often lead to more dryness due to their harsh formulations. If you're looking for a good mask, try The Ordinary's Peeling Solution or a similar brand with better formulations.

      Yes, since the Cosrx toner is an exfoliating acid toner, overuse could potentially lead to irritation, especially when following the routine consistently for several weeks or even months.
