    I just want to say that you are so sweet to answer everyone individually and personally the way you are! I'm pretty new to skincare but I learnt how to apply my HA acid through watching one of your videos and I can definitely feel a difference in my skin! So thank you. I am back here to check out the SA cleanser from inkey list in the hopes it can make my pores look a little cleaner. 😊

      You can, but it's not mandatory. If you decide to use one, ensure that it's suitable for your skin type. For oily skin, a gel such as The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta-Glucan would be appropriate. For dry skin, you might consider CeraVe Daily Facial Lotion.

    Hi Melissa! Thanks for the video. I just want to get your opinion on a new skin routine (I'm starting in a day or two as I haven't gotten two of the products yet.)
    I have had acne prone skin and issues with breakouts for about seven to eight years now (I'm about 16-18 years old) anyway, I've used a lot of topical treatments so I've decided to start my routine allover again, and I watched a couple videos so I can start testing the right treatments. I've decided to start with salicylic acid so my routine is
    AM: Inkey list salicylic acid cleanser.
    Brightening Green tea gentle exfoliating toner (by Ologe) 2-3 times a week.
    Cerave moisturizing lotion.
    Boots Soltan suncare spray spf 50+.
    PM:
    Cerave hydrating cleanser or Simple micellar cleanser (I'm switching to this once my cerave bottle has finished).
    Cerave moisturizing lotion.
    Is this alright? (I'm medium-dark skin toned btw, like cardboard coloured :) )

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! :)
      Yes, that's fine.
      However, you can also do it like this:
      AM:
      - SA Cleanser
      - Moisturizer
      - SPF
      PM:
      - Gentle Cleanser
      - Brightening Toner
      - Moisturizer
      This way, you are using one exfoliant in the AM and the other one in the PM. I'm not sure how potent your Brightening Toner may be, however, if it's gentle as this is what it looks like, you can use it more often up to daily throughout the week. If that's fine for your skin.

      Since when have you been experiencing breakouts, and when did you become interested in skincare? If you haven't had any skin concerns in the first place, you don't need to use any skincare products at all. If the breakouts started after you began using those skincare products, I recommend stopping their use entirely and just washing your face with water. That's it! :)

While doing this, focus on your diet as well by avoiding added sugar (like sodas, candies, cookies, ice cream), processed food, and food that's high in refined carbohydrates like bread/naan and fast food. Hi Melissa. I wonder if this cleanser can be used on a shaved head. I wrote to you before about a problem I had with acne on my scalp. you gave me many tpps and this was one of them. i am currently using chetaphil gentle cleanser on my rosacea face and it works so well and i have a skin care routine that works perfectly for my face. but not for my head. it got so serious that I had to use antibiotics on my scalp because I got red sores and many pimples all over the surface. but I managed to get rid of the worst. now I manage to keep it in check with pimples that come and go. but I want to try to get rid of it all completely so I had to start adding salicylic acid to my scalp. but I would like to know the best method to do it. I tried cleaning my head with shampoo then I added the ordinary salicylic acid 2% solution and then The ordinary Hyaluronic acid 2% on my head. but I wonder if it would be better if I instead used a cleanser that contains salicylic acid instead of shampoo. what do you think? and if I use a cleanser that contains 2% SA, shouldn't I need to add more afterwards? but should I continue to use hyaluronic acid afterwards to moisturize the skin?
    What do you think? Or do you have a better suggestion?
    and just to make a point. I only plan to use this on my scalp and not on my face because there I already use other products that I'm happy with and don't want to change that. with that said, do you think it's possible to only use this cleanser on your head at least once a day?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello again :)
      I am unsure if I already told you this, but for my husband, it works best with The Inkey List Salicylic Acid cleanser, as he has similar issues and also has a shaved head 🙂
      So he is using The Inkey List SA cleanser once or even twice a day while showering. He applies it on his wet head with some added water (as otherwise, it doesn't blend well) and leaves it on there for 1-2 minutes before rinsing it off. Still, the critical part is to wash it properly off the skin; otherwise, it can clog the pores! (take your time!) Also, he uses a Benzoyl peroxide cleanser once a day, usually in the evening (Differin Daily Deep Cleanser) every few days (2-3days) and follows the same process, which works best for him.
      Now with serums and/or moisturizers, he had mixed results sometimes, it works better when he adds something lightweight (hydrating serum or light moisturizer NIOD Hydration Vaccine), and on other days/weeks, it worsens the situation. So still deciding.

      I can definitely imagine using the Benzoyl Peroxide cleanse but I think I'll start with one product and see how I react to it.
      I have both Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, 30 ML from the ordinary. does it work to wear afterwards to moisturize the head? I've tried hyaluronic on my head and it worked quite well, but can you use natural moisturizing as well if necessary?

    Hello, by stripping out the oil, will it cause the skin to make the area even more greasy long term? Like a vicious cycle?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, yes, if you strip too much oil from your skin, it can disrupt the skin's natural balance and lead to increased oil production over time. This can create a vicious cycle where the more you strip your skin, the more oil it produces. To avoid this, you can use a hydrating serum or a light moisturizing gel in addition to the cleanser, or simply alternate the cleanser with a more hydrating version, which is what I often do 🙃.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial

      Salicylic acid cleansers can be drying on the skin due to their exfoliating properties, potential disruption of the skin's moisture barrier, and the mild irritation caused by salicylic acid itself. Therefore, it may or may not be suitable for sensitive skin. However, this particular cleanser is oil-free and non-comedogenic.

    PM:
    the Inkey list salicylic acid cleanser
    Monday, wednesday, friday - lactic acid from TO
    Tuesday, Thursday - Paula’s Choice 2% liquid exfoliant
    Alpha arbutin from TO
    Mosturising lotion from CeraVe
    and in the sundays i am thinking of using the ordinary salicylic acid masque
    Please tell me if it’s okay to use this routine, thank u very much in advantage!!

      Hey! :)
      I recommend using The Inkey List SA Cleanser in the AM and using your LRP Cleanser in the PM. This way you won't overdo it with exfoliating acids in your PM routine.
      I wouldn't use TO Salicylic Acid Mask as you already use PC 2% BHA.
      Overall the routine looks good, however, do not overdo it with your exfoliating acids. If irritation occurs, reduce it.

      This can become quite drying and may lead to irritation. I recommend using your Salicylic Acid Cleanser in the AM and Gentle Cleanser + Retinol in the PM.

      Hey! :)
      Do you wear sunscreen and/or makeup during the day that's difficult to remove with just one of those cleansers?
      If not, you do not need to double cleanse. Just use one of them in the PM and (if needed) AM.

    what SA cleanser can I use for dry skin? I want to include SA into my skin routine as I have acne and blemish prone skin. What is a good SA cleanser to use for dry skin to build up my skin, so i can eventually use the SA serum from the ordinary? x

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could use The Ordinary Salicylic Acid Anhydrous Solution or Paula's Choice 2% BHA Gel or Lotion Exfoliant.
      Salicylic Acid Cleansers can be drying on dry skin.

      No, use them at alternate times. All these products accelerate skin cell turnover, and when used together, you will experience irritation sooner or later. So it is best to alternate.
