I had a great time diving into this universe of monsters! But I think what shocked me the most was how good the writing was and the pacing in this film. It built a tonne of suspense and the sound design was chefs kiss. Enjoy :)

His roar was so loud in theaters. Absolutely love Godzillas design in this movie as well
That massive extended roar still gives me goosebumps.
@@jaspyr88 Dude that Chinatown roar, the lead up with the piano and his silhouette, ...much as I like the first nuke-breath in this movie, THAT scene. That scene.
Fun fact: when the studio was making their variation of the Godzilla Roar in the studio backlot they connected up the biggest speakers they had to see how effective it would sound. It set off car alarms for miles and shook windows and houses. People were calling police from 3 miles away.
@@silicabeastmaster1175 GOD HOLY JESUS DAMN CHRIST💀💀💀
My fiancé was holding my hand and he felt the instant goosebumps 😂 I'm 28 and loved godzilla since I was a literal toddler according to my parents. Watched and own ALL the movies so 2014 was a dream come true
“It’s crazy how he can produce that many eggs”
Sunfish casually laying 500 million eggs:
“Hold my beer”
I thought only females can produce eggs 🤣
"This alpha predator of yours, doctor, do you really think he has a chance?"
"The arrogance of men is thinking nature is in our control and not the other way around. Let them fight."
Fun Fact: Sally Hawkins joined the cast almost three weeks after filming started.
Not A Reptile Fact: Since he has the ability to breathe with both gills and lungs Godzilla is considered more of an amphibian than a true reptile.
Literal Fall Guys Fact: The skydiving sequence was actually shot in real life by a team of professional skydive photographers, led by Norman Kent and Craig O'Brien.
Wrong Set Fact: While shooting this film, cinematographer Seamus McGarvey accidentally went to a lakeside set of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014), which was shooting nearby and looked very similar to the set for this film. He described walking around with his light meter, not recognizing anyone, as a "surreal, dreamlike experience" until he realized his mistake.
Getting Ready Fact: The Godzilla roar was revamped for the movie. According to Gareth Edwards, sound designer Erik Aadahl improved on the original sound effect provided by Toho. Aadahl and fellow sound designer Ethan Van Der Ryn spent six months over the three-year production getting the roar right. Using microphones that could record sound inaudible to humans, the team found sounds to match the initial shriek and the finishing bellow. The new roar retains the musical key and cadence of the roar, going from a C to a D. The final version was the 50th the team produced. The pair tested the roar on a back lot at Warner Bros., using a tour speaker array for The Rolling Stones, and estimated that it could be heard 3 miles (4.83 km) away. In IMAX theatres, the roar was integrated into the sound of the "Welcome to IMAX" sequence shown before Godzilla showings.
I love that quote from Dr. Ichiro Serizawa.
“Oh dude, she preggers!”- Classic Oscar!
The factoids that blew my mind when I first learned it is that this version of Godzilla stands 355 feet tall, has a tail measurement of 550 ft 4 in from base to tip, and the volume of his his roar is 174 decibels with a deafening radius of 3 miles.
And the fact that Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson co-starred in this movie as husband and wife, then in the MCU as twins Wanda and Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age Of Ultron is a mindfuck
That's wierd.
In later movies in the monsterverse Godzilla height has increased
@@animezilla4486
Yup. At last check, he's now 393 feet tall with a tail measurement (base to tip) of 582 feet.
@@Rainbow.Pegacorn.Cosplay also is it me or has Godzilla is not as chubby as he once was in 2014
I think so. I noticed that he was more muscular, but maintained some bulk where it counted
The radioactive breath moment was so hype!
That massive roar! When I saw this in a sneak preview in a packed IMAX 3D theater, entire place stood up and screamed and clapped!
15:55 I saw this movie in Imax opening night and this reveal had everyone shook. The roar is deafening on the sound system and it goes on longer than you think it would, its a moment that snatched the souls out of everyone's body in the theater. 😱
I was today years old when I found out this is the same director of Star Wars Rogue One lol. I really enjoy how this director (Gareth Edwards) allows the more human story to be shown to us. Really enjoyed this! Might be my favorite Godzilla movie of the ones I’ve seen.
Wow I had no idea!! Totally makes sense though.
@@thecocoacouch He also directed the very recent movie called the Creator that was really good. It just came out this week on streaming.
The way that Gareth Edward's shows scale onscreen is second to none. The monsters (and machines and explosions in his other works) seem so huge and awe-inspiring.
"The Monster Verse" with the Godzilla movies, the kong movies and so on are really good. I´m looking forward to them :)
the SOUND in this film is INSANE, watching this in my livingroom with surround speakers and bass, holy shit i remember it almost broke the damn floor, but it was so worth it. absolutely brilliant sound design and visuals
So excited for you to start this journey!
Keep a sharp eye out during the mid credits of each movie if you can.
Alot of juicy details allude most people that are easy to miss going towards the next movie.
The "kiss of death" on the last Muto was so satisfying and so epic! This is my favorite of the new sequence.
I was born in 1970. I grew up with Gojira (Godzilla). I kinda enjoy seeing others in the current generations also enjoy the things I enjoyed as a kid.
Love this movie!
It gives us the mythology and lore of GODZILLA and other Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms that have walked the Earth long before mankind had even begun to evolve.
Truth be told, when the Mutos lost all their eggs, that really broke my heart
I loved this movie! I liked that they showed some restraint in showing the monsters. It made it more impactful than it had if they'd been stomping around for two hours straight.
The art book for the making of this movie is one of my prized posessions. Picked it up at a Comic Con round the time of the movie release. It shows SO MUCH concept art for the movie, the entire thing had amazingly detailed story boards and concept paintings for every scene that are just stunning. If you really enjoy this movie, i recommend checking it out if you can get a look at one somehow. 👍
The evolution of the design for Godzillais a wild ride in and of itself. He could have ended up looking SO different :P
Got my copy around the same time too, and it is fantastic.
A lot of people had their marvel movies…
For me it’s Godzilla ❤ excited to see this one here and for this journey. Too little people see the beauty of this movie.
The story is actually really sentimental and great 👌
This is really one of those movies that you HAD to watch in a big cinema hall just to get that sound design experience.
That airport scene roar was so loud it was borderline painful and it was BEAUTIFUL!
Also, HOLY SHIT, I didn't remember the cast being so loaded. Walter White, Scarlet Witch, The Last Samurai...
My favorite movie reactor!
What!? GODZILLA!! OMG! YESSSSSSSSSSSS
I grew up a military brat & so was my husband & he joined the military so our kids were military brats. It’s a way of life for many just like police families or firefighter families. It’s not always easy but hey 🤷🏽♀️
Godzilla was my honorary babysitter as a kid. If people wanted me to chill out theyd throw on a godzilla movie and I'd be hypnotized lol so im happy to see you reacted to some of these movies.
7:33 I actually learned a while ago that there are dogs in Chernobyl. I can’t remember the reasoning on how they were alive, but I’m pretty sure it was something along the lines of they adapted, but I don’t really remember
4:46 yeah quicksilver is married to his sister in this movie. That must’ve been fun going from siblings to spouses.
“The secret monarch had kept closed for decades was out…monsters were real”
It's so satisfying to see that this movie inspired so many new fans. Welcome to the wonderful world of monster movies, my dude!
The song during the opening credits is called “last shot” and it’s my favorite track in this movie if not the entire franchise
Your reaction when the flares drop in Honolulu and Big Thicc Boy is revealed. Was amazing. @14:56
I love that as soon as the son came on screen he was like "Oh thats.... quicksilver?" But didnt notice him making out with Elizabeth Olsen who played his sister Wanda! 🤣
also for twilight the end ones are way better then the first ones so gotta watch that all the way through to get to the good stuff
is so wierd seeing aaron taylor johnson and elizabeth odlen together when they play siblings in the mcu
The jump scares you had i too did at the same time especially the crow at window of the bus
help how did I not notice that Elle and Ford were Wanda and Pietro in the MCU until now? lol anyways great reaction, loved it!
If you haven't yet checked it out, Oscar, someday you may wanna do a reaction to "Pacific Rim"... It's a tad corny, but a ton of fun with some pretty awesome monster, (kaiju), fights.
1:25 now that had me gagged 🤯
Edwards portrays scale better than any director I can think of. When he wants to show you something is massive, it FEEELS massive. Godzilla and the MUTOs have weight to them, which I think a lot of movies fail to really capture.
The shot of im at the airport legit the audience I was ay the preview screening with were leaping out of seats in pure joy
Movie suggestion: cloverfield it’s a great movie in my (opinion) it keeps you interested it’s a couple of friends having a party after the party they go on epic and cool adventures without any destruction or fear totally……. Be in mind if you have motion sickness don’t recommend you’ll either throw up after the film or during its a found footage film with interesting movie the marketing campaign was insane for its out dated film it was released in 2008 15 years ago but impressive cgi and acting it was a great film but not so great when you have motion sickness like I mentioned earlier found footage film but it’s really cool it has epic adventures along with the military and I hope it wasn’t something that found them……. But watch at your own risk for motion sickness and it has T.J miller as the camera man
I wish I have Godzilla as a pet, but I don't think he would be happy about it though 😅
There basically the Greek mythology of the titans that ruled the world before Zeus and Pandora’s box that trapped them XD
Can’t wait till you watch the original movies
This movie looks great in Ultra HD.
also the huge skeleton in the beginning was a Gojira aka godzilla species his name was Dagon and he fought against Muto Prime who he had wounded but she wounded him very badly and layed 2 eggs in him that slowly killed him which is sad cause it makes Godzilla possible the last of his kind as of now rip Dagon
Grew up watching this and love it as well as the others
Watching this in the theater was AMAZING!!!
I'm a life long Godzilla fan and I love these Monsterverse films. The next movie is Kong Skull Island. It's a prequel to Godzilla set in the early 70's. Next is Godzilla King of The Monsters. It has 3 classic Godzilla foes from his past, Mothra , Rodan and Ghidorah. Then it's Godzilla vs Kong. This November on Apple TV is the series Monarch Legacy of Monsters. It's set after Godzilla and before King of the Monsters. Then next April is the 5th movie Godzilla x Kong The New Empire. Toho the Japanese studio that created Godzilla released Shin Gojira. It's not connected to the Monsterverse movies. I didn't like it but most fans did. Toho also has a new movie coming out in December called Gojira Minus One. It's a reboot of their movies and set just after WWII. Your not alone in your frustration in cutting away from the monster fights. Even long time fans complained about that. Each movie gets better at showing the action and not cutting away as much. So excited that your watching The Monsterverse Godzilla movies!
also muto's where either made by some higher creature or evolved to kill Godzilla species its unclear though how they came to be but their emp actually makes Godzilla's atomic breath weaker in this movie
I also am a huge fan of the "Shin godzilla" movie which is not Hollywood made but japanese made and is my favourite go to gozilla movie.
Great reaction. I can tell you were having a blast. This was a good start for watching the Warner Bros. Monsterverse movie series. Next to watch is Kong: Skull Island, then "Godzilla, King Of The Monsters, then Godzilla vs Kong. Also, to see where it all started, you should watch the original Gojira (Godzilla 1954). Peace.
If you like movies with vampires, I'd recommend you check out "Interview with the vampire".
28 : 36 "Uhh...what?" I love that beautiful moment where people realize Gojira/Godzilla ISNT a dinosaur---hes a damn DRAGON!
I recommend you check out the original Godzilla (1954) along with its many sequels and tie in films' even the original series had its own cinematic universe' but I imagine you will continue with the current monsterverse series with Kong Of Skull Island followed by Godzilla King Of The Monsters and then Godzilla vs Kong.
There's also another Godzilla movie on the way called Godzilla Minus One which hits theaters Dec 1st' it has no relation to the monsterverse series and is something of a remake to the 54 film which should be good, yeah you got a lot to catch up on when you have over four different Godzilla series.
The first series is the longest of the bunch' if you want me to give you the list of the rest feel free to ask.
The weirdest thing about this movie is how Godzilla keeps showing up like a ninja without making a sound. Also Godzilla was way more powerful than the Muto's but no matter how powerful you are it's still a difficult situation when you get jumped. By the way Godzilla couldn't use his full power either because the electromagnetic pulse from the Mutos was disrupting his Atomic breath. So it was very slow to charge and it was less powerful than it should have been.
Literally everyone was on the edge of their seat when Godzilla first arrived.
Wow! Great upcoming reactions brah! I feel you’re going to love Twilight enough to venture into all the films including the final two movies! God bless you Oscar and yours!
Godzillas facial structure was based on a Bear and a canine.
These are really good movies !! I'm in favor of twilight!! Also, my favorite reactor now! #teammarahmellow ❤️
Thankssss
I still remember when you were under 20 subs your really have come a far way
Dang really!? Thanks, hasn’t even felt long for me.
Kong Skull Island is part of this series - it is a kind of Prequel.
Polic Officer: "Attention everybody:
Gojira, Gojira Gojira Gojira, Gojira !"
Random Women: "Oh Gojira"
Dude, “Wolf” (1984) with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfieffer would be fantastic October movie for you. And no reactions exist yet. What do you say?
Your face at 15:01 😂
Im so glad you liked this so much, youre gonna LOVE Godzilla King of Monsters
only those creative geniuses at Toho could turn the topic of nuclear issues into a monster! a reflection of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. the original 1954 movie was a horror movie, but over time became less and less so as Godzilla faced off with other monsters. Godzilla vs. Hedora was one of the scariest movies I had seen as a little boy, and it tackled the issue of pollution. Then there was Shin Godzilla, the first CGI Godzilla Japan has made, and it, by far, is the scariest Godzilla of all time, and it addressed the issue of "too much bureaucracy in a time of crisis". all these issues surrounding the Godzilla franchise that these movies highlight are man-made.
Not all of them, Shin Godzilla was a metaphor for the 2011 tsunami that hit Japan
Love this movie.
Thx for reacting,im also gonna watch your recent friends show episodes reaction.
Love your videos.
and the next movies all have end credits just to let you know this is the only one that doesn't have it
Lets get fr. Monsterverse would have been better if they kept everything from 2014 movie
im in phillipins😂😂😂😂😂
I love the godzilla movies! If you liked this one then you’ll love king of the monsters! King of the monsters is so cool. I also recommend you watch Kong: skull island!
Those fighter jets (like 99% of military hardware and equipment) are EMP hardened in real life. An EMP wouldn't have disabled them.
Love your reaction 😊 Perfect movie and amazing sound effects 😊
Am like you, this film got a bit of a panning but I like it.
am I the only one who found this design of Godzilla particularly... cute? like he's so chonky and looked so huggable 😂😅
Godzilla isn't the reason for atomic testing, he's the result. Toho was created after the change in Japanese culture following the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Of all the Godzilla movies, this has been the best so far. There was one with Matthew Broderick which was pretty lame and the older ones are campy, but this one was really well done.
I can't wait for you to react to the other Godzilla movies
So my greatest memory of this movie is going to see it in IMAX with assigned seats and this jerk and all his girls were in our seats. I told them we paid for these seats. Look at our tickets and he said well I’m not moving. Guess what I got security and he moved. But here is where it is funny half way through the movie I had to pee so bad but I was not gonna get up I had to fight for my seat and every time Godlizzla was on the screen I didn’t have to pee. He has been my favorite monster since I was 5. ❤
16:13 i kinda have the feeling hes watching the old bad dark version. Hope im wrong
The complaint about the cut aways was a general sentiment about the movie. The sequels took that criticism into account.
I don’t think I would have minded if they didn’t tease it yah know? I actually like how it left us in suspense but it was so mean to almost show us 😂
Still best Godzilla movie to date. Loved Shin Godzilla as well. The other Monsterverse movies not so much. I am very hyped for the new Godzilla-Minus One.
King of the Monsters won´t disappoint you...!
I'm guessing this movie didn't have the budget for longer fights, hence the cut aways. It kind of fits in with the movie mostly being from the point of view of the people. That said, I won't make excuses for it. It's a decent first movie with a few awesome moments but doesn't fully deliver. The following movies more than make up for it.
Brian Cranston literly carryed the Movie, and he dies half way into it. Hollywood knows how to destroy a good story lol. I mean the movie isnt realy bad. the special aeffects are great, the Monsters are good. The Story is a bit numb, and the main Char just dies ^^ But overall i liked those Moves, but Shin Godzilla gave me goosebumps, nothing that Movie did to me.
Well good thing to become apart of the Fandom, with legacy of the monsters on apple TV plus, Godzilla minus zero ( it a new Japanese film) and Godzilla x Kong the new empire
Shin Godzilla is a different level. It really tied the lore together.
Hey could you go see godzilla minus one minus color and then come back here giving your oppinions on it compared to godzilla 2014?😊
You should watch Pacific Rim next.
Only the first one.
Film is pretty dark because you can't see anything it's too dark sometimes
I love these movies!
THE NUCLEAR BOMBS HAD HIGH LEVELS OF RADIATION😵😵😵😵WHICH SPURS GODZILLA TO REGENERATE.😵😵😵😵
I just subbed
This is why analogue is better
GODZILLA HELPS MAN...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
React to the original Godzilla movie even though it came out in 1954 it blows all the American ones out of the water so are most of the Japanese Godzilla movies
Bah, I thought you were watching the original Godzilla. The new ones for me are missing something.
😅 They really need to hire a scientific advisor.
can you watch the creed trilogy???
A lot of people were frustrated with this movie because of the lack of Godzilla (and Bryan Cranston) but I love how seriously Gareth Edwards took this and the artistic decision to only show the monsters from human perspective for scale.
Sadly (in my opinion) the sequels throw all of that out for generic blockbuster tone and Marvel humour, and the monsters are shown so much they stop being impressive.
Godzilla vs Kong is fine, I guess, but King of the Monsters is straight up trash
