    Skoda Kodiaq SUV review: carbyr.uk/2ftAHpy
    Watch our latest video: bit.ly/carbuyervideos
    The Skoda Kodiaq is a large SUV that sits as the flagship of the range. It’s less expensive than the Volkswagen Tiguan, a car with which it shares mechanical underpinnings, and you can have it with seven seats. That means it’s a rival for larger and more expensive cars like the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, while only the Nissan X-Trail offers seven seats at a comparable cost to the Kodiaq. In addition to practicality and value, the Kodiaq can also count handsome looks, a good equipment roster and a genuinely decent driving experience among its talents. There’s very little not to like about this long-awaited SUV.

    I just don't understand why this guy gets so much hate. He may have a unique accent and intriguing looks but I feel that he is great at his job, all the reviews are factual without being too formal. Yes Mat Watson is a great reviewer just like James, but if James left carbuyer after many years hard work and then in came Mat changing the style of the reviews; Mat would be the one getting all the hate. I also have a lot of praise for the other reviewer (the pretty one) who goes by the name of Ginny, she is great at her job and despite their two different review styles, the two of them work brilliant together. Good work carbuyer you're doing great, just ignore them haters.

    The American Market is so full of SUVs. But sad to say they missed this one. This is a fantastic SUV. You would think that the Volkswagen group would and send something like this to the states. Umbrellas in the doors , bumper guards to protect the doors it's just a very practical vehicle.

    I really don't understand how every UK journalist is in awe of any VW group product. I find the interiors of this and the Ateca some of the most dated and dull interiors of any on the market. The new 3008 for example looks so much fresher, more premium and more kit than anything of the VW group. I'm convinced UK journalists are paid by the VW group haha!
    We test drove the Ateca and looked at the Kodiak and went for the 3008 as it was better in every category pretty much!

      @@robking6968 I saw this review and your comment and actually went on to see both and bought the Peugeot. After a week having it, indeed the Peugeot has a more flashier interior but now that I have it, it makes absolutely no sense, it's a complete fuss inside to put objects, nothing fits and what was once a wow factor, now make me think I made a mistake. If I could go back in time, I would go for the Kodiaq hands down, the 3008 seems a lot of bling (I am in love with it) but really has no substance inside...

    WHEN OH WHEN Will you do a review of a car in the purpose it was built for , where is the family and luggage as they all look and drive differently when FULL ,what will really fit in the boot ,the childs buggy the suitcases mum dad grandma grandpa the baby seat , all in place is it really comfortable . Will it pull the lot or struggle ?? Also you did not mention the isofix in the rear ONLY 2 so not for 3 children in the rear ??

  • @stuartcraigon2003
    @stuartcraigon2003 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jan Šinkovec I know exactly what you mean but if cheaper plastics in the rear save just $20 a car and skoda go on to sell 250,000 units then that's $5 million...when you think of it like that?!?

    • @dsantosfranco
      @dsantosfranco 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The towing quoted here is not true in the UK, no Kodiaq in UK can tow 2500kg, they can tow upto 2000 kg due to engine and 7 seater specification. To get the decent tow capacity you need the big 190 engine to tow in a 5 seater but for some reason you can't get it in UK in that format. Furthermore, the 150 diesel, 7 seat manual version is not capable of towing at all and can't have a tow bar fitted. That said I have looked over this vehicle and it is certainly up there with my current kia sorento, the rear seats are better in the sorento, but prefer the dash layout of this. Come on Skoda, make the 7 seater an option in all models so we can have a decent tow vehicle!

    • @ffchx129

    What's the obsession that car reviewers have with a soft touch dash? I've never touched my dash. I occasionally place parking tickets on it and I occasionally remove parking tickets from it. That is all. I don't care if it's made of silk or camel dung. In the event of a crash, the camel dung might provide a softer landing, as long as the front seat passenger doesn't open their mouth to scream.

    Problem with Skoda (or almost any car made by VAG) is that everything is an extra, so the affordable starting price is only for marketing and for that you are getting an almost empty shell. Kodiaq with decent spec will set you back at least 35k€ and this is near to some more premium cars. Dont forget, this is still a skoda..

    • @OkulSmoK
      @OkulSmoK 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      frameshade The empty shell rule applies the same to premium cars. For a starting price premium car (empty shell) you get fully loaded Skoda. And whereas extras are pretty cheap with Skoda, they are extremely steep on premium.

    The only gripe I have with Skoda is their VW engine range.
    TSI? Possibility of oil consumption and general failures due to VW's sped up R&D to catch Toyota.
    DSG? Worst iteration of dual-clutch transmission, also - as proven by past experiences - prone to breaking.
    TDI? I don't need diesel for 99% of driving in the city. Besides that: DIESELGATE.
    And there it goes - good price, quite modest looks, very clever interior solutions - all of that made irrelevant due to VW's engines.
    I was really interested in Kodiaq but in the end, the only weapon a customer has against giant automotive companies is learning from experience. And experience with VW engines all across VAG is poor.
    Thanks, but no thanks.
