Skoda Kodiaq Sportline Review

  • Everyone, please welcome AutoBears review of our first press fleet car, The śkoda Kodiaq Sportline. This Sportline joins the range along with the rugged Scout to compliment an already very appealing Kodiaq range. Offered with Petrol or Diesel, Manual or DSG and 4WD as standard, it truly addds to the Czech brands appeal. We had the top 187bhp TDI engine with DSG and has been a refined cruiser. Ride compromised a bit by those 20in Vega alloys. I want to say a huge "Thank You" to Škoda for loaning AutoBears the Kodiaq SUV and look forward to bringing more content to our viewers. Enjoy!

    A very impressive SUV, recently drove one at a press event, punchy, handles well and roomy. We’re very impressed with the Karoq too, very clever vehicles.

    I’ve had my Sportline for around 2 months now, looks great in black. Went for the 2.0 TSI which is good to drive but very thirsty! Had a 1.4 TSI Edition model previously which was well spec’d but a little underwhelming to look at and a bit underpowered. Kodiaqs are practicality at its finest I have 5 young children and it’s perfect for getting us all about in comfortably and a great alternative to a boring people carrier, top review btw 👍

    • @AutoBears
      @AutoBears  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      James Murphy thank you for your comment. Glad you’re loving your Sportline. Yes the 2.0 TSI is thirsty, hence my comment of offering a FWD only version to boost economy. But as an engine it is a fine unit.

    Hi, I loved the video. I've now subscribed! Well done!
    You mention a few times about the MPG and efficiency of the Kodiaq - in your experience in your testing of real world driving, what MPG did you achieve on average?
    (Obviously everybody has a different driving style and geographical area but what do you think you achieved realistically? Mixing Motorway and in town?)
    I like the Kodiaq and I like the idea of the 4wd (We live in Scotland so snow is quite likely!) mated with a DSG box but probably need it to consistently meet or exceed 40mpg for it to work out for me. I have a 3 year old, DSG 2.0 tdi 2wd passat estate at the moment. I think the Kodiaq and Superb share a lot of the platform with the Passat in terms of chasis, size and weight - with normal driving, and I can be quite heavy footed, I achieve 48mpg from that.
    Thanks again!

    • @AutoBears
      @AutoBears  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      David Craig thanks for your comment. Living in Milton Keynes I was kind of cursed with mpg as you have a few roundabouts to negotiate. Town driving brought around 34mpg and managed to get 46mpg on the motorway. With careful driving you could hit 40 on a regular basis. I hope this has helped and thank you for subscribing.

    I’m debating about changing to this, avid skoda supporter, had 2 octavia vrs from new and currently have a sportline superb! Have the kodiaq sportline in mind but the Tiguan r line is also creeping into my head!! After watching this one I’m leaning towards the skoda! What are your thoughts! Also what a great review well done

    Great review mate. You have a knack for TV. How do you think this compares with the Superb Sportline for family?

    • @AutoBears
      @AutoBears  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jason. Thank you for the comment and sorry for the delay. The Superb is the flagship and in estate form the boot cannot be matched. Only the 5 seater Kodiaq can beat it and that's only available on lower specced cars. I also think rear legroom is superior in the Superb and fitting a child seat is very easy as a result.

    • @AutoBears
      @AutoBears  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lee M thanks for the comment. I’d personally choose the Kodiaq over the Tiguan Allspace as it is slightly roomier for those in the 3rd row and the Kodiaq feels more thought out than the Tiguan.

      Thank you for your kind words and question Andrew. I personally think that the Tiguan interior design looks a Škoda interior and visa-versa. This does feel better designed than the Tiguas and has the edge on interior quality. A true surprise.

    • @AutoBears
      @AutoBears  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      askaniuk its more comparable to the 5008 as they are both 7 seater cars. The Peugeot drives great and has the incredible interior, however some may be divided by the small steering wheel. It is difficult to choose between them.

    Why do you need a 5 seat version? You can fold down the 2 rearmost seats if you need extra boot space.

    • @AutoBears
      @AutoBears  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gary Taylor thanks for the comment Gary. It’s a great option to have with the 5 seats as it offers class leading boot space. A lot of consumers who buy 7 seater SUVs often have no intention of using them which makes the 5 seater a great option.

    • @JeanV1986
      @JeanV1986 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also: weight. The 5 seats version is 120kg lighter than the 7 seaters version. And boot space suffers as well.

    • @mrgt3201
      @mrgt3201 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't get me wrong I've always wondered why people think they need a car with 7 seats. Unless you've got 4 or more children then in the real world I doubt you'll hardly have any need for them. When our children were younger we had a Zafira because we have a large family. If we'd only had 3 or less children we wouldn't have even considered a Zafira or any other 7 seat car.

    • @runawayronnie
      @runawayronnie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@falveyscabsglenbeigh Free? Depends your definition of free. Irish cars are VERY expensive compared to UK, perhaps one of the most expensive in whole of Europe.
      I've just used Irish configurator. I've had to add metallic, upgrade to larger alloys, upgrade to the larger infotainment, add electric tailgate, add headlight washers, add Keyless entry and seatbelt reminders. And that's just to match UK std spec.
      The UK list price of the car I've ordered with options is £37500. In Ireland, the exact same car comes in at Euro 52,000 which is approx £7000 MORE than we pay in the UK. Ouch !

    • @falveyscabsglenbeigh
      @falveyscabsglenbeigh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      runawayronnie the reason they are more expensive here is because of VRT it’s a government tax.
      If you buy the sport the panoramic is included plus 19” alloys,keyless entry.
      We just bought a 2020 demo 5000km.
      €43,000 also had side steps,virtual dash,steel grey,ambient lighting,7seats,9 inch infotainment screen,adaptive cruise control and a dsg gearbox
      All cars are more expensive in Ireland because of the tax (vrt) even if you buy the car in the UK you have to pay the VRT when you register it here.
      Anyway my point is when you buy the sport here it comes with the panoramic sunroof as standard you actually have to take it
