One thing not mentioned about EVs in the USA is the market for EVs has matured. All the 'hype' and fascination with them has ebbed, so anyone who was an 'early adopter' or 'fanboy' (or girl) got one. Now companies like Tesla (and probably the Chinese) have to start the hard work of marketing and advertising to convince customers they should get an EV versus an ICE vehicle, and they have to convince those early adopters to keep purchasing new ones. I'm also unsure about maintenance, battery replacement costs, long-term reliability, and lengthy charging cycles. I'm sticking with ICE vehicles for now.

@@stephkent2736 I challenge you this then. Look up the complete history of burn acreage in the United States for the past 100+ years. Forest fires have decreased by a whopping 90% since recording began. We are at an all time low burn acreage now. It's the same story for things like hurricanes and severe storms. We are at all time lows for those as well. Temperature data from outside big cities and airports (heat islands) actually shows a slight decrease in average temperatures over the past 100+ years. We were told the arctic would be ice free before 2020, remember Al Gores famous presentation about this? Well someone forgot to tell that to the Arctic because sea ice thickness and extent has remained completely average since recording began.

BYD really means "Burn your Driveway". Charging infrastructure is only part of the problem. Currently, the U.S. electric grid can not support higher EV adoption nor can it produce the amount of electricity needed. All EVs do is drain your wallet, increase pollution, increase car insurance rates and increased electric rates.

The EPA should stop using the ICE versus EV comparison, as the data formula (kWh versus gasoline) is seriously flawed. New labels should display the range per kWh and the average cost of electricity by state (e.g., Southern California = 32 cents per kWh, Tier 1).

"England, they have a huge problem with not enough power in order to charge all the electric cars." Really, source please.
The US D.O.T. reports "there are over 192,000 publicly available charging ports with approximately 1,000 new public chargers being added each week". Recall also that for most EV owners DC fast chargers are only needed for long distance travel.
"Lots of restrictions to putting them (EV charging equipment) in your home like permitting." Permitting like any electrical upgrades you'd get done in your home like when you'd put in a hot tub, that kind of 'restriction'? I expect your insurer would want to know that you put in a hot tub too.
Since when would a collision that only bends the fender lead to possible damage to the battery pack? Replacing a damaged battery pack can be very expensive and hence lead to an insurer writing off a vehicle. I expect that this requires more than a mere fender bender in the mall parking lot and such.

Under the Trump administration, with gasoline at around $2.90 per gallon and electricity at less than $0.25 per kWh, the comparison between a Tesla Model 3 and an ICE vehicle highlights the following:
    Model 3 (EV):
    Range: 350 miles
    Cost to recharge: $19.57
ICE Vehicle (30 mpg, 18-gallon tank):
    Range: 350 miles
    Cost to refuel: $33.83
The difference in cost clearly shows that recharging an electric vehicle is cheaper by about $14.26 for the same 350-mile range. However, the real considerations for savings go beyond just the cost per mile:
    Time to Charge:
Charging an electric vehicle can take significantly longer than refueling a gasoline vehicle, especially with home charging or slower public chargers.
While a gas station stop might take 5-10 minutes, even the fastest EV superchargers take 30-60 minutes to reach an 80% charge. Home charging typically takes several hours.
    Distance to Refuel:
Gas stations are abundant and quick to access, making refueling easy even in remote areas.
EV charging infrastructure is growing but is still limited in some regions, particularly rural areas, meaning drivers may need to plan their routes carefully to avoid running out of charge.
So, while the cost savings per mile favor electric vehicles, the time to charge and the convenience of refueling remain key trade-offs. For many, the choice between EVs and ICE vehicles comes down to lifestyle, access to charging infrastructure, and how much the time to charge impacts their daily routine.

I like well enough and my jaguar XJl serves me more than well but, i like electric cars too. All they have to do is improve the EV to provide the many things that are currently reserved for gas cars only. What about a large full size luxury automobile which tesla dosent even make for guys like me who don't drive little tiny cars? Has to be more variety in color, style, shape and make so that the rag top person can even have one. They have to provide a much shorter down time for charging and much longer ranges. I have yet to see an EV that provides the same range as my jaguar XJl which is 570 miles instead of an average of 200 to 300 which is short and shitty. I know it, you know it yet this is what they boast. On top of that, you have to sit awhile to get that short and shitty range. If only, IF ONLY they would improve them to deliver the same fine qualities and improvements and provisions a "normal" car delivers. It doesn't matter what anyone says, the ice will continue to dominate and along with their many fine qualities and features......
