This is what I was thinking about for Crazy Taxi, because now it's been like 10+ years since the re-release. So maybe those copyrights ran out for the new songs. Probably the same for OG JSR
Are you that lazy to get an old DVD for PS2, XBOX, Game Cube, XBOX 360, PS3, PSP, XBOX ONE, PS4, Switch; one of the two Genesis Minis or any of the many Atgames consoles? Man, you don't even have to be rich to get most of those for the Genesis. That's just plain laziness.
It genuinely sucks that they are delisting all of these, but I imagine that they maybe have some new rereleases planned? That's the only reason I can think of as to why they'd do that.
That's what I'm thinking, and it would make the most logical sense, but again, who knows. Maybe they just wanna get rid of it just because... they can.
you know one of the things that makes Sega so cool these days is how cool they are over fan games and rom hacks and stuff. Even if they don't seem to know how to make a good Sonic game lately (shots fired... okay I haven't played frontiers yet so I can't judge) they're not stopping other people from trying. That's why them delisting all of these games feels like such a slap in the face for long time Sega fans. Welp, I have most of those games anyway, I still S3nK from Steam so that's good.
The reason behind Sega delisting games is likely because they want to encourage players to focus on their newer releases. While this may be a strategic move for Sega, it negatively impacts game preservation efforts. Sadly, this decision further complicates the already challenging task of preserving gaming history.
Yeah. I stated this in terms of why Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio are on that list, but even I still don't agree with it. Since those games are how those IPs got started to begin with. I just think it's silly to remove these old games for those interested in wanting to try them the "legal" way.
Or they want to move their old games to Gamivo. After the delisting of the original non-remastered classic Sonic games, SEGA moved Sonic 1 to Gamivo as a Steam digital key. There's a chance SEGA may do the same with the other classics.
@@RisingSonic17 I just discovered it from a video called "RTX 3070 vs RX 6700 XT - Which is Better in New Games?" made by this user called Testing Games. I bought the Genesis Collection not too many days ago, and I do have the Sonic Mega Collection for my Gamecube, and I do have both NiGHTS into dreams and Christmas NiGHTS into dreams for the original Sega Saturn. But Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi, I wish I had them.
Some people don't have those same older consoles anymore either because they're not working or just wanted to upgrade. Some don't have PCs and such. Sure, these games have been in other previous consoles, but not everyone has the finances to go on ebay to get a lot of those classics and hell, I wouldn't wanna buy a lot of older games from randoms who juiced up the price and main devs aren't even getting money from it. Accessibility and preservation should be important. Especially when, even some consoles don't have backwards compatibility or support certain games.
Sonic Origins is inferior to the actual classic games, thanks to the different physics engine not suited for the old level design, and replaced music. It's not as horrible as the GTA Trilogy, but it's still the same dangerous mentality; delist the old to make way for an inferior re-release. No game is safe from this.
While I like Sonic Origins, I DO know when others are right, and that statement of being inferior to the actual classics is totally true, but as you said, is much better than the GTA Trilogy, still that doesn't excuse to prevent other people playing the older versions (like in my case for example, I still find myself playing the original Sonic 3... & Knuckles more than the Origins versions... especially if I don't want to play as Amy).
