    Hey Grant! Any tips on making emission maps like these for video games? Any way you can maybe bake this emission mask you made into an emission texture?

    • @sttate
      @sttate 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can games even do emission maps? I thought emission maps relied on ray tracing.

    • @robbertzzzzz
      @robbertzzzzz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sttate games can definitely do emission, that's how lit effects like fire and lasers are done. Baking these is similar to baking a diffuse I suppose if there isn't a dedicated emission bake in blender, or else just doing it in photoshop using the multiply blend mode works too.

    • @sttate
      @sttate 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robbertzzzzz Yeah but aren't they actually just point lights that are faking emission?

    • @robbertzzzzz
      @robbertzzzzz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sttate no, definitely not. Emissive materials in game engines typically don't even emit light, although that's changing now more and more game engines are supporting rtx cards. Emission in games basically is a bunch of unshaded colours, the strength of which can be used to create bloom and HDR effects. It's basically identical to emission in eevee, as eevee is really just a very high quality game renderer.

    • @grabbitt
      @grabbitt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      eevee doesn't do emissions either but yes you can fake it with bloom :)

    I just finished your sculpting playlist and you've literally jumpstarted my 3d sculpting journey!
    I would LOVE if you made a full texturing tutorial about the dragon. It seems to be pretty advanced and would be a great challenge to those who've dipped their toes in sculpting like me!

    Hey Grant!
    Amazing work as always! I'm just wondering, why most of your character sculpts are leaning towards monsters or oddly shaped man like maybe an ogre or dwarf? Don't get me wrong though, those are some good stuff.
    It's just that they are kind of too much monster-ish vibe. Maybe on the next sculpt tutorial throw in some cute stuff in there, you know. 😂
    Maybe like an anime girl? Something similar to Yansculpts or Follygon artworks would be a good content! 💯
    I hope you consider. Regardless, awesome work, Grant! 💕

    Grant thanks for this playlist. One question, if you will upload this model to a SketchFab portfolio, how will you bake to obtain an image with the final result?, I made a model and I have a mix shader after the Principled BSDF and I am not sure how to bake it or make the mix in Sketchfab

      @njs811271 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can also put your black/white maps into a single texture by default in ArmorPaint. Saves a pretty good amount on calling.
