No reason this can't be part of the prime universe. To me the designs and lens flares aren't really an identifier of one timeline over the other. That's just growth of technology like the ships continued changing between '66-2002. Looks pretty great
The tech of the Abrams universe is noticeably different and somewhat more advanced than that of the prime Universe. The Abrams Constitution Class is as large as the Galaxy Class of TNG for example. Then we have Klingons that have not lost their ridges, which strongly suggests the augment virus did not happen. The Abrams universe or Kelvin timeline is a distinct and separate reality to the prime Universe.
Amazing! Maybe this is just me but "lets catch that Horizon" sounds as iconic as any of the exploratory remarks by the main Captains in Star Trek, so simple yet it sums up a lot of what Star Trek is about.
I am, admittedly, not a great fan of Star Trek, but I'm always willing to watch fan made productions for the sheer ingenuity and skill exhibited by so many talented 'amateur' film makers. The Future of Star Trek and similar lies not with the huge budget, studio blockbusters, but with the independent film makers. 'Chasing the Infinite Sky' is a great piece of work and my congratulations for being able to bring this project to its fruition. You should quite rightly be proud of yourself. Roddenberry would be grinning from ear to ear in appreciation. Thank you.
The more I see these fans films - even if technologically and visually stunning as this one is - the more I appreciate what an experienced actor brings to the table. Every amateur actor in this short looked like my neighbor pretending to be a Star Fleet officer. Being in character, and having a camera presence to pull off even a simple scene, takes talent and LOTS of training.
This was SO GOOD, I watched 58 seconds of Credits..... just to Read the Names of the Dedicated, Industrious, Creative, Knowledgeable, and GIFTED Crewmembers( read as "Personnel") that WORKED on this Project!!!!!!!!! OUTSTANDING JOB!!!! ps, Trekkies are Better than Fanboys!!!!!!
+Atari Kid The only reason the Discovery looks bad is because they used concept art that was never used. The reason why it was never used is because it looked like trash. The director just didn't get why the art was thrown away.
@The LemonSHadow That concept art was done for Planet of the Titans. A show developed by Roddenberry for TV that was pitched in the 70's and never got the greenlight. That's the reason it was never used.
This isn’t a millions of dollar funded movie production to the haters talking about lens flare, etc.. In other words, reserved all of your nit picking for high budget productions. For what little this guy had, this is beyond outstanding. Someone should hire this guy to write and produce the next Star Trek film👍
holy shit, this is Fan CGI? this looks like.. lost footage from the Kelvinverse. this is 10/10. Hell, it looks better than the preview from Discovery. Amazing footage.
Thank you for your views and support of our small fan piece! It really means a lot and is very appreciated. Feel free to watch updated ultra widescreen version on this same channel th-cam.com/video/0XzBxb-n8FY/w-d-xo.html I also put our short on Vimeo in Ultra Wide 21:9 format. Thanks again! vimeo.com/196973313
Well done! Watched it several times... felt like I was there.. I love it when the Albatross comes out of Quantum warp... Oh! the music fit very well... The ship design looked solid, the engines looks muscular and well designed...
+Alvision100 Your welcome.. lol just watched it again. I fall asleep now dreaming of travelling in a star ship to the other end of the universe . It is very positive . Tired of the negative. I believe in this future , one of hope.. Sweet Dreams
Greg Outman, I absolutely agree with you. I have watched this gem about 25 times, as a 'pick-me-up whenever I am feeling down. I seldom regard anything in the future with optimism anymore, but when I watch this emotionally-engaging labour-of-love...I feel good about the future again.
(standing ovation). This is good. Insanely good. It is gorgeous, emotionally powerful, and quintessentially Star Trek. And, you managed to do it within the absolutely draconian guidelines set by CBS.
I've read some of the comments - expressing "why this is not Star Trek." I fundamentally disagree with those comments. This is THE MOST Star Trek. Take a moment to think about Kirk's love for his starship. He LOVED the Enterprise. He LOVED exploration - and pushing the envelope. This film is a love letter to space flight. A love letter to leaping beyond the horizon. For that reason alone, it is REAL Star Trek. Maybe one day they'll write a story for this ship and crew. Until then, the filmmakers wanted to remind us that Star Trek isn't about war - or military ranks - or Spock's ears. It's about the joy of curiosity.
Six years on, and your exemplary accomplishment still evokes waves of emotion within me. For some reason, I always thought of this endeavor as a one-way trip. There is a certain implicit tension in the dialogue and musical underscore which leads me to this conclusion. In my interpretation, everyone aboard the Albatross understands that their participation in the mission signifies an irreparable 'farewell' to everything they have known before. The objective of their journey is to chase an ever-fleeting horizon, an infinite sky, punching through innumerable multiverses by virtue of their ship's 'Infinity Drive'. Periodically sending quantum-entangled dispatches to their zero-point launch coordinates, even though 'Star Fleet' ceased to exist millennia ago, relativistically. The crew of the Albatross remain perpetually bound to their ship and to their collective cause: Forward. Ever forward.
Don't listen to the complaints....this vid looks amazing ! I used to see stuff growing up on a 12" black and white TV, With ghosting images. The space movies, had plastic models, on a string, with a smoke bomb shoved in the back. The smoke went out, and then rose vertically. You had to use your imagination. Today's young people, and some of the ungrateful older ones have no idea, just how fortunate they are, to have movies look and sound REAL. When a movie was in the theaters, you had to wait 10 years before it came to TV....IF IT EVER DID. There was no DVDs, Bluray, or vhs (only for the rich) !
this is undoubtedly the best fan made Star Trek short story that I have ever seen. as a life long Star trek fan (not a trekkie ) I must say that I will anxiously await your next production.
In my opinion, it's time to make a new series for Star Trek, based on these ships. A new story, a new universe, more aimed at exploration. I love Star Trek, but the constant is that they always get into conflicts. Think a little bit about the real and true idea of Star Trek, Until you had the conflict, but where is the real exploration of new worlds, where no man has ever been?
Nice! No, scratch that: DAMN NICE! The engine-to-fuselage ratio makes the ship look like the Federation's version of a hot-rod. This is beautifully done.
I think G.R. would be pleased. I could see sitting down to watch seasons of stories based on this. Awesome job guys! Please keep it up. I know I would love to see more.
Beautiful ship, and the work captures the Kelvin timeline. Maybe one too many flybys of the ship, but still brilliant. I never get bored of watching this.
I'll start with what I didn't like to get it out of the way. 1. JJ Abrams level of spas cam. I don't think that works well for Star Trek 2. Water effects on the camera lens looks like a cheap filter effect. Things I do like. 1. Ship design! The Albatross looks really nice. 2. The visuals - aside from what I mentioned above - look very good. 3. The end deep space mission looked a little off at first but then I got the 2001 hyperspace trip vibe and I think I understand what you were going for. This was definitely a labor of love and I'm sure took an awful lot of time. I think you did a good job.
Thanks for your input I appreciate it. I'm Glad you liked the ship configuration of the Albatross. This micro labor of love took two years to make on my spare time. Thanks for taking the time to watch.
I agree. Comparing the Kelvin timeline ships with the original series and the old movies, the kelvin ships just look a lot better. JJ Abrams did a great job with the designs!!!
+The LemonShadow I think they were heading in a similar direction in the TNG timeline anyway, just look at the leap from the Intrepid class to the Sovereign. Everything was becoming more elegant and swoopy etc
The second part is just amazing, the visuals and music couldnt be better balanced. Incredibly beautiful, I wish the new series could communicate this sort of feeling to the viewer. Well done guys :)
could be a gas cloud or something, well with liquid parts, or well species 8472 lived in entire liquid space after as example, anything could be out there "where no one has gone before"
Idazmi7 nice to see someone else gets it. while i would have loved to watch Axanar, i would also love to shove my boot up alec peters aft compartment. ruined it for everyone. not just the fans, but the actors, the production people, everyone who has ever worked on star trek. none of these people can ever do something Trek related that isnt on CBS's payroll again, which means no more Tuvok, no more Chekov (ST Renagades) no more Sulu (ST New Voyages) no more Apollo (ST Continues) 50 years worth of people who love the family they are part of BARRED from every doing anything in it again as a fan....all because of Alec Peters' greed.
right. i just wanted to watch it. i very much enjoyed Prelude. but i'll never defend it as being right. however i wouldnt blame the entire production team or cast of Axanar. just Peters. he should have backed down.
also just found out that Koenig and company simply took off their combadges and are making Renegades anyway, just dropping the star trek name. so Kudos to them!
Magnificent work! On par with the professionals and a true work of art as well as a good illustration of the spirit of Star Trek. This is begging to be made into a series.
I could not agree with you more...The music and the images transcend narrative structure...and elevate this endeavor to the realm of 'art'. As you say; a 'true work of art'. '-)
Absolutely fabulous production quality. The "rain on the lens" effect was extra special. Too bad independent labs like yours aren't allowed to produce fan feature films. God's peace & grace
"Quantum Warp." Should be called Q-Warp to differentiate it from normal warp drive! Plus, we all know a certain entity would be tickled pink to hear it get called that...
"This is what I love. The thoughts and considerations for details. This clips has the look and feel of a big studio production, for a piece that is fan-made" - my words when I shard this a few moments ago. Amazing stuff. Hope to see more from you
If a short fan film can capture the true essence of Star Trek and be awe inspiring enough to pull one back into the hope and dream that is the beating heart of Star Trek, then I believe there is still hope for the future of humanity in the dark times we reside in. Well Done!
This should have been the new series, this would have been even better than Axanar and for me that line "lets catch that Horizon" fits amongst all the other great lines in Star Trek.
I'm quite impressed with the visuals and with the design of your starship. You managed to make an interesting conceptual even with all those Draconian rules Paramount has laid out for new Star Trek fan films. Congratulations. I would love to see this developed into a fuller storyline.
God man, All the sound effects from the Kelvin timeline are awesome, and it's really amazing to see the beautiful looking ships you can create either the Kevlin Nacelles
I was a big Airwolf fan as a child. While working on the sound effects for the project, I added a mixed sample of it mixed in with various other sounds for a scene. Several people noticed. That's cool.
My confession, I am not a big Star Trek fan, now...now...don't get me wrong, I am a Star Trek fan, just not as big a fan as I am of Star Wars. That being said, HATS OFF to Alvision100...this is TOP NOTCH ! the visuals are spot on and the CGI is fantastic. Now if we can only get Star Wars fan films with this level of dedication and professionality.
Paramount needs to call you for a job....right now! All you "critics" (fan nerds), need to keep yer traps shut...Put up or shut up. This guy put up, in a BIG way! THIS concept should be the next show, with YOU as the creative driver. Many thanks and tons of KUDOS!!! Thank you!!!
That is the Best Star Trek fanmade piece of short story I have ever seen.Well Done!In FUTURE I hope have more of this amazing light speed and so on.Anyway "Thank-you".
The visuals are absolutely amazing, if only you could do a canon timeline one! I would definitely act in it if you’d let me. Lol. Take my word for it. With visuals this good you should be doing something bigger than this!
Well, its impossible to make any kind of story on the "cannot exceed 15 minutes in length" restrictions that CBS/Paramount put upon fanfilms. We are reduced to SNL skits and clip-shows now
Dude this is so frackin cool. Fantastic visuals. Why in the hell CBS won't do a TV show EXACTLY like this??? YOU guys deserve that. Thank you for this video. I love Star Trek! And Women!! Whhooot!!! =D
I find it amazing that your 5 plus minutes🤔 of fan based work is way more interesting compared to anything coming out of Viacom or CBS,,,its a straight slap on their faces.,,,well done 🖖😷
It's hard to say with all of the strict guidelines. We would like to start researching and writing the conclusion to this voyage. It would take some time though.
At some point within the potential conclusion of your 'Infinite Sky' voyage, I would love to see a representation of the 'Probability Cascade'...the idea that Quantum Drive enables a ship to catch sight of the multiverse horizon...where myriad uncountable probabilities can be seen stretching fore and aft...impenetrable, but observable when traveling within the realm of Quantum Dilation. I truly appreciate the choices you made for underscoring the imagery in your project. The music evokes within me an emotional reaction, a genuine sensation of awe and wonderment. Well done, well done. :-)
Almost a year since first posted! My favorite version right here. My excited opinions and angles for what they are worth. Just wishing to give this some high praise. It richly deserves such and far more. CTIS- Chasing The Infinite Sky isn't just this web film alone, it is an imaginative alpha mode beginning in perhaps it's own series keeping the name. Captain Benjamin Storm- looks like a really good relate-able and respectable leader. He has a loyal pilot or helmsman- of whom there is the sense that this big guy flying him out to the Albatross is looking out for Ben. Maybe he is actually family stationed on the same vessel. Who knows? Nice dynamic potential in its own right. Happy crew- seen in Cpt. Storm's welcoming, adding to the feeling of a good non contrived space captain that the crew are inspired to work with. Felt the feeling of fresh adventure testing the new quantum drive. (3:33) Lightning like effect from an unfamiliar technology in the nacelles- What is the quantum drive? It's mysterious- The Albatross's unique capabilities may be the new sci-fi thinking that creates further technological possibilities. The Albatross is special- is seen as an exploration vessel here not a war machine- It's thrillingly cutting edge and fast. What will it discover? (3:15) This part of the universe is breathtakingly beautiful- worth everything to build this & to get here and take in the awe of this natural galactic spectacle and phenomena. Movingly beautiful music told a story in itself and was linked in nicely- emotive. You took the audience on a pioneering journey. The mistakes- in the grand schemes of this fresh sci-fi story are easily forgiven- who is an exacting expert on science fiction fantasy? If it really needs correction make sure not to lose the imaginative qualities that are making this so endearing. In a way this was a fitting celebration of the 50 years since the 1966 Star Trek release. Thank you & all involved-
Wow thank you! I truly appreciate your kind words. It means a lot that so many people appreciate this micro movie for it's simple meaning of hope, exploration and expectation.
Thank you. This 57 year old still dreams of Starships.
This 38 year old also dreams of starships and being able to leave our system.
Add a 65yrs young and all the star treks I've seen from the beginning. Always wanted to fly out in space. Still dreaming....
This 53 year old dreams of green Orion slave girls.
56 here and I wish I were on Vulcan, Andor or Tellar right now.
I still dream of starships, fantastic voyages and chair of Captain on the bridge...and I want not stop the adventure!
Although I'm never a fan of Abramverse, I must say this is beautiful.
Then get out.
I completely agree.

Wow that was overly sensitive. Almost comical.
Amazing! Maybe this is just me but "lets catch that Horizon" sounds as iconic as any of the exploratory remarks by the main Captains in Star Trek, so simple yet it sums up a lot of what Star Trek is about.

This is what Discovery should look like. The Albatross is easily one of the most beautiful ships I've yet seen!
+Atari Kid The only reason the Discovery looks bad is because they used concept art that was never used. The reason why it was never used is because it looked like trash. The director just didn't get why the art was thrown away.
+Atari Kid What do you mean by "actually"? What you said doesn't make for any kind of counter point to his statement.
@The LemonSHadow
That concept art was done for Planet of the Titans. A show developed by Roddenberry for TV that was pitched in the 70's and never got the greenlight. That's the reason it was never used.
CGI looks a ton better than Discovery as well.
Special effects are way superior...But Albatross is a hideous name for a star ship...Discovery is just plain boring.

Still my favorite Star Trek fan film! Love the visuals (especially the water droplets). Such an amazing starship design! Fantastic work!
The effects work is exceptional and it captured the spirit of the federation, exploration, push boundaries seeing what no one on earth has seen.
holy shit, this is Fan CGI? this looks like.. lost footage from the Kelvinverse. this is 10/10. Hell, it looks better than the preview from Discovery. Amazing footage.

Beautiful work, I would have been convinced that it was a movie trailer.

Shh dont say that out loud cause CBS and Paramount pretty much are on a witch hunt to kill of good quality fan films
+eaglerocks123 CBS has only gone after one fan film : Axanar. Others like Star Trek Continues, they have allowed.
+eaglerocks123 TRUE THAT! Spot on!!
So true. he got the warp bubble bending space down as well! also liked the lens flare!
Thanks Martin. How is your fan film coming along?

It is a most excellent 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd effort ! Keep up the good work and good luck in your endeavors !
Wow This is Truly inspirational, and high quality visual work. BRAVO!
somebody give this man the funds to slap together a full movie
But then CBS would sue him
The second part is just amazing, the visuals and music couldnt be better balanced. Incredibly beautiful, I wish the new series could communicate this sort of feeling to the viewer. Well done guys :)
Thank you! That really means alot!
I have to say, this is one of the best fan made movies I have ever seen. the graphics, and sound effects are fantastic.

could be a gas cloud or something, well with liquid parts, or well species 8472 lived in entire liquid space after as example, anything could be out there "where no one has gone before"
Did the studio pay you to say that?
not the best it uses jj stuff
of gods and men and renergades is better
A Kelvin-Trek fan film. Definitely makes it one of a kind.
tru
That’s funny! Most ppl aren’t getting what you are saying here, but I get it.
For those of you who are not in the know....:
One fan. One Kelvin fan.
Congragulations! You managed to follow Paramounts annoying new Fan Film rules and still make an awesome movie! Bravo!
What are the new fan film rules?
Here a list of the CBS Bullshit Rules:

Best kind of fan-made StarTrek are the ones that’s alway enjoyable to watch again & again. This is among them.
Absolutely fabulous production quality. The "rain on the lens" effect was extra special. Too bad independent labs like yours aren't allowed to produce fan feature films.
God's peace & grace
Beautiful, they could use ya over at CBS for Discovery.
Wow...... i so agree. This looks 1000 times better than the sneak peek at Discovery.
@Robbie Ward you are right. The Discovery looks just awful.
Give me a break, you whiners.
+Steampilot Yeah because they pulled the Discovery design from an old design that never maid it. This design was concept art that was never used!!!!!
Shhhhhhh you'll get the CBS monster awakened!!! ;)
Wow! For the first time (Since Axanar) some fresh and decent Trek Fan fiction has come out! Very Well done!
I almost can't believe that's a fan film!! beautiful sequences, amazing sound ! This short film has potential to turn into a web series! Bravo!
That was beautifully done. TY.
very nice, great job with lens flare JJ Abrams would be proud of 😀
"Quantum Warp." Should be called Q-Warp to differentiate it from normal warp drive! Plus, we all know a certain entity would be tickled pink to hear it get called that...

That scene at 2:50, simply awe-inspiring. It feels like that ship really could exist.
It is very appreciated!
+Alvision100 the whole thing was amazing! That bit and onwards were just my personal favorite parts.
I was a big Airwolf fan as a child. While working on the sound effects for the project, I added a mixed sample of it mixed in with various other sounds for a scene. Several people noticed. That's cool.
This is very well done for a fan film.
This is AMAZING!!!!
It's well done period, fan or pro. It's biggest problem is that it's too short.
Totally agree, awesome stuff!!
It has to be to not piss cbs off.
Now that! Was a damn fine piece of work! Great job!
Such a gorgeous starship design! I want a Star Trek series with This Ship! 💖🖖
Wonderful!
BEAUTIFUL to look at. Great pacing. Excellent feel. A fine contribution to the Star Trek Universe.
Albert!! This is EXCEPTIONAL!!! Why haven't you've been discovered yet!!! Off the Charts Man!!!
Love the look of the Alternate Universe, the ships look sexy and you did a great job of capturing this. Everyone on the team should be proud.
Weng's Man this exactly describes me.
I like the Ship.
I LOVE your "Reliant Class"!!!!
Michael Schultz thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I was watch this several times and still think the special effects are awesome. well done and i hope there are future projects in the works
Thank you, watched this today. AaaMmmAaaZzzING!!!! - Props to all that helped you... What a wonderful short film.
Very nicely done! Well done to everyone involved.
"Remember when we used to be explorers?"
As little child i always wanted to explore everything. But school killed the this wish long time ago.
Visual effects were very well done.
Excellent job, very well done, thank you.
Thank you and thanks for watching.
The albatross would make for a great 3D printed model! Very nice design. :)
Awesome video, nicely put together
Looooooool, these ships look EXACTLY like the type of the federtion in the kelvin-timeline. soooo awesome
I wish these were the quality of visuals we got for Star Trek discovery. Phenominal job 10/10!
I find it hilarious that Star Trek Discovery trailer looked very sloppy and your fan film looks so amazing.
The visuals are absolutely amazing, if only you could do a canon timeline one! I would definitely act in it if you’d let me. Lol.
Take my word for it. With visuals this good you should be doing something bigger than this!
This looks better than the Star Trek Discovery teaser.
Great short, thanks for adding to the Star Trek Universe, May you Live Long and Prosper
this short masterpiece puts sugar on our mouths. Even the little flaws brought good issues to discuss. Lets like it people!
Nicely done, but thin on story obviously. I admire all of the hard work that went into the making if it nevertheless.
Well, its impossible to make any kind of story on the "cannot exceed 15 minutes in length" restrictions that CBS/Paramount put upon fanfilms. We are reduced to SNL skits and clip-shows now
30 minute restriction not 15. I guess all those 30 minute Star Trek Animated Series stories are not possible today?
*****
Incorrect. 15 minutes for a self-containted story, and no more than two episodes or parts for a total of 30 minutes.
Correct. It cannot be a single 30 minute piece.
So lets see some 30 minute two parters like the 30 minute animated stories and move on
Star Wars recently suing again
This is a masterpiece, wow.
Although I hate the Kelvin timeline ships... I did enjoy your movie.
Well done guys.
Trek Fans will keep our franchise alive.
Dude this is so frackin cool. Fantastic visuals. Why in the hell CBS won't do a TV show EXACTLY like this??? YOU guys deserve that. Thank you for this video. I love Star Trek! And Women!! Whhooot!!! =D
Respect from another Trekker, awesome job! Hoping that we all put our differences aside and start doing things as humanity, united.
That was Outstanding!!!
That 'standard orbit' looks more like a ship with a drunk navigational officer
Its standard to drink on the bridge
Still better cgi than Justice League
MAH MAN!
Wow. That has to be the most beautiful vfx I have EVER seen. Just. No words.
Honestly, this amount of views and under 1k subs?! This guy deserves a million!
I find it amazing that your 5 plus minutes🤔 of fan based work is way more interesting compared to anything coming out of Viacom or CBS,,,its a straight slap on their faces.,,,well done 🖖😷
Graphic already look better than CBS's teaser for ST:Discovery
It was a teaser put together quickly if you did your research
czdaniel1 not really excusing how crap the trailer looked. If a Amateur can produce far superior results then a whole team!
This is a FAN FILM?
Wow, very nice. I would have thought it was a studio release. can we expect more from your team?
It's hard to say with all of the strict guidelines. We would like to start researching and writing the conclusion to this voyage. It would take some time though.
I really hope you find a way or at the least find some outlet for your great talents.
Many thanks for a job well done.
Thank you it is very appreciated!
didint the enterprise have a quantum drive ???
It's beyond me how a fan can create this level of production! This looks f*%cking epic. Please make more!
The effects are quite beautiful. Well done.
Incredible, first rate! Make more, much more, please!
Fan - friggin - tastic!
I love your take on the Miranda class starship. I still wish to see a good JJ design of the Excelsior class, I love that class.
