I was debating on buying two 3DS systems this summer for multiplayer with friends on the go (Mario Kart, Super Smash). Something I can throw in my backpack. But this video convinced me that I only need one RP4 Pro, bluetooth controllers and a portable monitor for a much bigger library.
Thanks I was trying to remember the name of that Kirby game. Where you can fly around on stars with your friends, absolutely love that game I put countless hours into that as a kid. I have had the RP4P for a few months now and its easily one of my favorite things ive ever had, brings back so many amazing gaming memories. All with very little effort and with better resolution and countless software customization to do. Worth every dollar of the $199 I spent! ( Anyone who is thinking about buying one, get the grips it makes the experience even better and its only 15+ dollars, makes long sessions a breeze )
Great video Kurt- thank you for the summary on this - I'm looking forward to the RP5. If you keep it docked, will it wake from sleep with external controller?
Thanks heavens! I am from South America, and it amazes me that I have looked for this modality everywhere and that apparently no one has thought of it. Could it be that no one plays with anyone anymore?? My best memories of my playing life are precisely those pitched battles in Super Smash Bros. (I still smile thinking about Luigi laughing while he is thrown off the screen) and indeed I found several of those experiences on PS2. I'd like to recommend you try ATV4, X-Men Legends, Gauntlet, and the crazy tag team fight mode (and ability to do insane combos) in DOA2. Even letting myself win to balance the game makes me very happy, the important thing is to laugh and share. Greetings and congratulations for your channel.
Thank you! I'll have to give those games a shot. I love playing splitscreen multiplayer whenever possible. Luckily my spouse plays games so it's easy to find someone to play with regularly haha
Aaaah, the old N64 multi playing. I loved it. For me it was either Killer Instinct Gold or MK Gold on the N64 and Street Fighter Alpha or Tekken 3 on the PS1, god I hated those load times. Can't help it, I grew up on the Arcades and fighting games were KING. If you think you have real skills, take it to the arcades and kick people's asses while talking trash to them. Or stand there take your trash talking to when you lose. Fair is fair. There is nothing in today's gaming quite like it.
Love the video, I'll definitely be trying this, how's the latency feel thru bluetooth on the controllers especially with all 4 synced? I feel like the only caveat is just fiddling with the settings, but it looks like you have it nailed down. Atm I have a rp3+, but the power from the rp4p definitely looks better, I was also looking into more portable-like controllers, or even just hooking up a wiimote and call it a day as a gamecube/wii clone, or both!
This is one of the main reasons I wanted the rp4p. I have a rog ally ex as well, but honestly, I think I'm going to sell it. I have a gaming laptop for the latest and greatest. I just want something fun and portable as a handheld and this fits the bill perfectly especially paired with 2 8bitdo controllers
The connection from us hub to TV depends on the hub device. Mines work perfect with 1 hub but the other hub it won't even display. So maybe try others as well 🤷♂️
I had the same problem in the past, I'm not sure which setting fixed it but this is what I'm using for Kirby airride: Video backend - Vulkan, Shader compilation mode - Hybrid Ubershaders, Compile shaders before starting - on. Everything else is pretty much default settings on Dolphin.
I have a problem... when I pair the ps5 controller to my RP4P, RetroArch reads it in the Device Index as "Retroid Pocket 2 Plus for Android 11" and not as "DualSense Wireless Controller", so I can't play multiplayer because all bluetooth controller are read the same way. I tried with DuckStation and it works there. The problem remains only with RetroArch. Would you know how to help me? Thank you very much
Hmm that's strange, it's possible you might have an outdated retro arch installed. For me, when I press any button on my dualsense or xbox controller, retroarch immediately detects the controller and it appears under device index.
@8Bit BongoI have been looking for this exact F***ing video for like 30 years. If you would buy 4 new controllers, what would be your choice? Thanks man and here is your like+sub.
Thanks for the Sub! And I'm glad it helped you out. As far as controllers go, I've always just used my Xbox and PS controllers to avoid buying anything but if I had to buy bluetooth controllers, I'd probably go with the 8Bitdo ones, people seem to like them, the ultimate one specifically. And they aren't too pricey. But keep in mind I haven't tested these, I probably will in the future though!

Glad it helped! I've been playing a ton of multiplayer gamecube games with my friends and spouse. Totally worth it.

I agree about the grips! I'm going to order some.
Retroid do have a dock….. don’t they?

Very useful! Thank you!

Agreed, nothing quite like it. Soul caliber II was the fighting game I played most growing up and it can get heated.
Of 007!!!
thanks for the video i plan to buy a dock and another controller cant wait to play with my friends on the couch

I didnt notice any latency playing with 4 people! And I’m sensitive to those kind of things haha

I still use it all the time for multiplayer, love it.
My question is do you have manually set up /map buttons each time you want to play with a controller/ docked?
looked this up so i can beat psycho mantis on my MGS playthrough. thanks!
Glad it helped!

Yea I had another hub I used on my mac but that didn't work with the RP4 pro, the anker one does work though so I recommend that one for people.
If my friend and I had retroids can we play on our own device? Or is multiplayer only local?
How did you fix the kirby air dash black background? This is the issue I'm having

$200 portable handheld, rp4 pro ftw!
Just got here, and already liked the video (●'◡'●)
