Retroid has created an impressive pocket friendly handheld for the price. This might be all you need for a while, but what do you think?
    Update:
Unfortunately color correction on the Odin 2 was set to auto, I didn't notice it at the time of recording and editing. I apologize for that and will make sure to be more thorough in future videos.

Noticed no temps were in basically any of the systems shown pls include in your next video on it as showing fan profile doesn't particularly help if we can't see how using said profile ends up interfacing with console🙏🏽and affects the temps

@@ghostsauce3109 the fan basically runs on its own in smart and full blast in sports mode and you cant disable it, only performance mode has the quiet option .In the fan section of the video I talked about disconnecting the fan and how it impacted temperatures.

Thanks for showing performance/quiet fan settings. All other youtubers just went for high performance/smart fan and got awful battery life. Meh. Battery kills it for me. This is a portable handheld, if I have to plug it in all the time, it defeats the whole purpose of it IMHO. And no, I don't want to use low power settings all the time. Don't tell me it can do PS2, etc if that means it needs to turn it up to full power to play them, again, useless for true portability. If I wanted to play it at home all the time, I'll just use my computer...wait, I already do that, lol. The price is good, no doubt, and it looks the part, but skimping on the battery is a no go. Could be worse, I have the RG405M and love it, but the shoulder buttons and "triggers" were so clicky at first.
Though now, the shoulder buttons have lost their click in less than a year and I don't even use those buttons often, or that hard when I do. But now they're a spongey, unsatisfying slog to use and are so sensitive you can blow on them and they register a press.
I'd honestly prefer the click shoulder buttons on this thing, and I usually hate overly clicky buttons myself. If they're built to last, I'd be willing to accept the compromise.

As of right now nothing is going to beat the 4pro in terms of power and price. The Ace has a chip that compares to a snapdragon 845 and the rg506 is going to be similar to the base rp4.
Unless anbernic comes out with a d1200 chip for the same price the 4pro is going to be at the top of the list in the mid range category.

So the rg506 is supposed to have a d1200 it'll be on par with RP4pro. if this is true but, anbernic will most likely charge more than the cost of retroid pocket 4pro . The rg556 has a unisoc t820 so that will be the comparable model to the base RP4. I believe both devices from anbernic won't do well because the company will over price it and people will favor the 4pro for this reason.

    • @retrohandhelds

I haven't noticed any issues with input lag. The problem with using it docked is that most emulators don't recognize the controllers as player one, so you have to go in and manually switch it every time. I played a lot of call of duty mobile, it's one of the games I show in the video.
For sim support the only one I can think of is the Odin lite.

It can be if you really crank things up, but if you adjust the settings and find the right profile you can get a decent amount of play time.

I find the D1100 to be very inefficient compared to the D900. Kind of like comparing the Qualcomm 870 to the 888. I'd choose the non plus, since not worth the battery life and heat for the higher running games I'd not play on a 4.7" display anyway. I hope the Flip 2 uses the D900.

    • @retrohandhelds
      @retrohandhelds  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

If you look at the scores they're equal in battery life, but the d1100 is a faster chip and you can run more demanding games at a lower power draw than the d900. The reason the battery life looks so bad on the pro is because it can run games that the d900 can't, so you end up pushing it more. High performance mode pulls a lot of power and the fan goes crazy, but that hopefully gets adjusted, a lot of games run great in standard and performance mode.
In the lowest power setting (standard) you can run 3ds at 2x resolution with no fan, and if you stick to things from Dreamcast on down the battery life is good.

Unfortunately it's not always up to the company, the chip has to have Linux support in order for them to have that option. They could have used a different chip but there's not a lot of good options for powerful chips with Linux support.

Just wanna let you know, the time between the PS2 and today is longer than the time from the PS2 to the NES. That generation of systems are by definition retro now so a 16:9 screen is necessary considering a 16:9 screen can display 4:3 with black side bars, but not the other way around for retro gaming.

@@JacobSaip-ev3em Unfortunately that comes down to the emulators, the power boost is definitely there it's just that those systems need more development.
For PS2 unfortunately we're going to be waiting a long time, but 3ds continues to improve. If you want the best experience possible then moving up to the Odin 2 is the best choice, we're a ways away from a big jump in performance at this price.

@@AishRios I have one, the Maxx version. Best handled experience ever and worth the 400 price range. However don't get me wrong about the rp4 pro, what I'm trying to say was that it isn't really a leap forward like the 3+ turned out, nevertheless retroid pocket 4 is still good just for an upgrade swap than to expect a lot.
