@ I ordered this one in September and I’ve had it for about a month so I’m not sure how they are deciding what order to send out units I also had a black one but I believe that was a review unit that I never used
Hey man, very solid review and overview! I just got mine in black and love it. It's a solid upgrade from the RP4P and it's also a solid companion to my Steam Deck OLED. Thanks for going over everything, the info and perspective is helpful for a non-tech savvy person like myself. Looking forward to more videos in the future!
I'm about to buy myself one of these shortly after the holidays. Out of curiosity, how long did you have to wait between placing the order and the tracking showing you it was on the way?
I’ve had mine for few days. It’s so nice the OLED and controls are responsive, my buttons are fine no loud noises. I have Anbernic 556 and 505 and prefer this. It runs most PS2 games perfectly. Had to mess with the emulator settings on the 556 with a lot of PS2 games. Frontend is fast and smooth as well. Very cool.
I like the Game Cube color but I had to go black. Got some nostalgia colors with the rp2 and 2+. Went clear purple for the 3 plus, but this one just looks too new to be nostalgic. I wanted sleek, modern, and the oled making the black borders dissappear is definitely a bonus. You're right though it does look like it could've been the Vita 2 or something.
for auto modellista... use the pal version for ps2 (needs to be that version or the japnese version but pal version has english menus) the driving dynamics are totally different and you can actually play/have fun
Thanks for a detailed, honest review, appreciate you keepin it real with the controls, they will work for some but for many, it will be very cramped and uncomfortable. 🍻💪🏼
@@tonyrosario1940 not always though I think it’s a balance with this thing it’s nimble and in a lot of games has amazing ergonomics it’s just some games will feel worse as a consequence but it’s never “bad”
Great video, subbed right away! I love that you showed a lot of gameplay, including some that aren’t super common in these types of video. Maybe one request would be to add the game name, emulator/core and setting in the corner of the screen if it’s not too much trouble? I love it when other channels do that.
16:26 NEED FOR SPEED CARBON! I love love love that game but I notice it isn’t playing the best on my PR5 with nethersx2 emulator. Maybe I’m doing something wrong or maybe it’s the limits of my device. I notice that the menu lags the most for me when it renders a car. The music is a giveaway on how it’s running.
best review ive seen so far, something you can do next time is maybe som "secret console" game testing with third-party games. Anything from Hades to Octopath to NFS HPR would be greatly appreciated, just avoid showing first-party games.
Really enjoyed that review.... No I want one.... But that will take me well in to double figures on Handhelds! 🤣 Ive found myself collecting Tham as well as Games now! Ahh well, keep up the great work! 👍
Great review. If you're interested in technically competent racing games with, uh, unique handling characteristics, besides 'Auto Modelista', then seek out 'Driving Emotion Type S' by SquareSoft. Made for PS2, it was Square's last racing game. It's also unique in that it's a CD-ROM game instead of DVD-ROM, so you'll have BIN + CUE files instead of an ISO; and it doesn't take up very much storage space either. Unfortunately, it has very weak self centering in the steering. I think it was made for a sim racing wheel. You can get used to it on a controller by making use of your brakes before was turn and counter steering after you clear the apex...
My main concern is the stick placement, if the sticks have to be symmetrical I do prefer them both being on the top like the wii u as well If it becomes too much of an issue atleast there will be grips sold on etsy
what a nice video. would love to see squad busters and fall guys for android on it. also curious how to runs the ps2 megamans, the dragonballs, PES marvel vs capcom, tales of the abyss. and anything not too intensive on the nintendo switch!
I have quite a bit of secret console games. A TON of them work very well! Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Dave The Diver, Animal Crossing, Pokemon luminescent platinum, and bunch of indie games work at 100%
That GameCube colorway is looking NICE! I can't understand for the life of me why clicky buttons are a thing though. It's like they don't expect us retro gaming nerds to have spouses sleeping next to us. lol

It sounds like you're playing the US version of Auto Modelista. There are basically 2 different versions of the game: the original release that came out in Japan and Europe, and an "improved" version that was made for the US and released in Japan as the "US Tuned" edition. The US revision controls horribly, and is not the version of the game people are usually talking about when they praise it. Try and get ahold of the EU copy (PS2 only, unfortunately), and you'll probably like it much more.
@ most likely not there isn’t really any reason to this has a snapdragon 865 which was never even designed for android 13 but due to the demand of customers wanted a bit more compatibility they delayed the launch and built their own custom rom for it
Thank you for the review. The one game I can play forever and which I couldn't play (apart from streaming) on the RP4 Pro is Alice Madness Returns. My bet is RP5 will fare much better with Winlator, but still not enough. Maybe next RP, with a newer SD (and left stick on top).

LOL I feel the same about Auto Modellista! I can do pretty well in both racing sims and arcade racers, hell even kart racers. I cannot for the life of me figure out Auto Modellista. The driving is too floaty and the cars are too fishtail-happy. 😆

@jordiclaes5031 Nah Im a tournament 1st runner winner in Tekken Tag 2 using dualshock and Ive also finish these games 100% completion rate on PS2, even Kingdom Hearts 2, I doubt even 10% of Kingdom Hearts 2 players can do that let alone defeating Sephirot in hard difficulty.
