The Miyoo Mini Plus is definitely my go-to retro handheld, especially because of Onion OS. The d-pad may stick here and there, but it's still more comfortable than most retro handhelds at its price range. And while it's ideal for 8 and 16-bit games, I gotta say, it handles its fair share of PS1 games easily too. The portability is its strongest suit, aside from Onion OS. Were you playing Celeste on Fake8, or on the real native Pico-8? You need to turn off Fake8 in the Package Manager if you want native Pico-8 to be the default.
- D-pad - I have exactly the same experience. If I'm soft while changing directions it works fine though. This is a recurring problem for me, to the point of considering upgrading to the RG35XX+ even though the OS is not there yet. - Shoulder buttons - I found that swapping the shoulder buttons (R2 R1, L2 L1), is better, since the inward shoulder buttons are easier to access and L1/R1 are the most commonly used. There's a global option on Onion for that.
I'm not a fan of R1 and L1, either, but the Tweaks app gives you the option to swap R1/L1 and R2/L2. The R2 and L2 buttons are much more reasonable, so swapping them in as the new R1 and L1 helps.

Once you do that, all updates can be done from the console itself over the internet, just like you would with your phone. If you want something straight out of the box to start playing on, I'd recommend something like the Anbernic 35XX plus, H, or SP. Maybe even the Anbernic 28XX if you like mini handhelds.

Another of the numerous reasons PC is far superior to Mac. There's a reason you don't see professional hackers/cyber security professionals on a Mac, unless they're breaking into it of course.
I like my RG35XX Plus for power and the controls, but I don’t really love any of the firmware options currently. I mainly play GBA games, so the Miyoo Mini (Plus) has plenty of power for my day to day, and Onion OS is seriously so damn good
Yeah no, d-pad & back buttons suck and Garlic OS objectively isn't that good in comparison to Onion OS At this price point with the intent of having retro games on the go, I would rather have a less powerful handheld with elite controls than a more powerful handheld with sub-par controls

reddit always comes in clutch doesn't it?
@@stefssj1291 100% for any super niche question you may have lol
I love this😊
Another of the numerous reasons PC is far superior to Mac. There's a reason you don't see professional hackers/cyber security professionals on a Mac, unless they're breaking into it of course.
Just need to save up lol PCs are expensive.
Couldn't even get through 2 min of this video bc I hate the way you say may-you
rg35xx plus is much better for the same price
Care to elaborate on that?
Not me w/ the basic RG35xx lol
I like my RG35XX Plus for power and the controls, but I don’t really love any of the firmware options currently. I mainly play GBA games, so the Miyoo Mini (Plus) has plenty of power for my day to day, and Onion OS is seriously so damn good
Yeah no, d-pad & back buttons suck and Garlic OS objectively isn't that good in comparison to Onion OS
At this price point with the intent of having retro games on the go, I would rather have a less powerful handheld with elite controls than a more powerful handheld with sub-par controls
"In your opinion..."
i got a r36s and i love it cheap and not bad to set up
I purchased an r36s for review as well!
@@8bitbongo for the price it the best i thank
I had the R36S also for short, got a RG35XX plus and I never looked back.
Now I also have a Miyoo Mini plus, both are way better in terms of quality as the R36S.
