@@RyanRetro1 then get the odin 2 mini, still the better handheld, same size as the redroid pocket 5, and it has a mini led screen, slightly worse colors, but it will last a lot longer than an oled display. it has the snapdragon 8 gen 2, which is like 34% better across the board. At most the pocket 5 should cost $149. You can get a phone with the same power as the retroid pocket 5 for $99 at your local walmart.
Always glad to see new retro channels pop up. That being said, please protect yourself from ***tendo (the company that shall not be named). Stick to showing third party games for switch. They copyright struck Retro Game Corps twice for showing first party games on his channel. Either way, love the content, good luck with your channel!
Another recommended game, Cricket 19 or 22 on the secret device. Was wxcited to try it on RG556 but it crashed on loading screen in most simulators and at start of match in one

Thank you! I 100% am going to try Linux - I can't wait! I'm going to be getting a new SD Card this week or next in order to try it out and I'll definitely share my findings here.
If you wanna check for audio latency, try music games like DJ Max where you have to hit notes accurately. A split second of latency that you wouldn't notice anywhere else will totally mess up your performance at these games, thats how I found out my headphones had latency
Great video. Ive been trying to get this 'green boy game' to work on the RP Mini and its just glitches everywhere on Y and Skyline. Could it be the Ram difference, maybe the android 13 or some gpu driver situation?
As a "stick on the bottom" person, I have to give you respect for not stating your opposing preference like it's fact. While the "mysterious console" probably isn't the main thing to buy this for, I wonder are the settings you have to use to get a playable experience, for the games that _do_ run on it, impacting your enjoyment? I'd expect lots of missing effects, stutters, and low res hacks being used which might not be for everyone.
I know a lot of people who prefer the stick at the bottom, it's definitely just personal preference. The only thing I've really done is reduce the quality from 1x to 0.75x but then it's using upscaling to make all the text sharp again. It looks fantastic and runs great. I'll go more in-depth on all the settings in an upcoming video!
@@RyanRetro1 sometimes the simplist answer is the one no one thinks of I wish I had of thought of that because I wouldn't mind all the bugs it has at the moment anyway.
I ordered mine yesterday, I'm in Latvia. How long do you think I will have to wait? There is no word about it from Retroid. I was surprised to see that they are actually in France?
Question: when you use the HDMI cable, do you get audio out to the television, speakers or speaker system. I watched another video that says if you use the DisplayPort cable that you will not get audio to the TV, it will simply stay at the retroid device.
Hiya, I'm thinking of getting one of these myself, I would like to know whether it supports all known streaming apps through Android, Netflix, TH-cam, Amazon Prime and most importantly Apple TV... Reason is that I have a pair of Xreal 2 pro glasses and am hoping to replace my in line Android TV (Rokid) that doesn't support Netflix (I've also got a drawer of these things all the way back to Game Park 32-BLU and Open Pandora and most in between...
Nice video mate, I'm currently torn between grabbing a pocket 5 or splurging on a Leigon go for the screen size (overkill for mostly retro gaming) do you think the screen size is comfortable on the pocket 5? Hopefully you can save me £400 😂
Totally up to you mate, I have this and the Steam Deck and to me they're quite different. If I could only have one I'd choose the Steam Deck because it can just do absolutely everything. But this one I'll definitely be taking with me all the time whereas the Steam Deck's size means it just says at home.
Do you have Zelda run natively on it or is it streaming from another device? Like are you using an emulator on the retro five itself? I’m just trying to gauge how good it can run Nintendo games through an emulator natively.

The Odin 2 is quite a bit bigger
Thanks a lot for the kind message!
Hey you should make a list top 10 retro console under 100$
Sounds cool!
Another recommended game, Cricket 19 or 22 on the secret device. Was wxcited to try it on RG556 but it crashed on loading screen in most simulators and at start of match in one
All people thought "how this new channel got a review unit" and now appears the real answer lol, you were lucky Ryan to get a unit sent before others, but you're creating good content everyday, let's hope the shipment starts this thursday...
It's not a review unit. I was lucky and I'm trying to repay that. Hopefully!
Hey Ryan, another great video! Any plan to try Linux share your feelings? I’m really curious about it and plan to use rocknix as my main os.
Thank you! I 100% am going to try Linux - I can't wait! I'm going to be getting a new SD Card this week or next in order to try it out and I'll definitely share my findings here.
You are on fire recently! Looking forward to your linux experience!
If you wanna check for audio latency, try music games like DJ Max where you have to hit notes accurately. A split second of latency that you wouldn't notice anywhere else will totally mess up your performance at these games, thats how I found out my headphones had latency
Do you know if it's possible to access games to external harddrive via the dock?
Great question
Great video.
Ive been trying to get this 'green boy game' to work on the RP Mini and its just glitches everywhere on Y and Skyline.
Could it be the Ram difference, maybe the android 13 or some gpu driver situation?
It's probably just the way you have it setup. I'll go into more detail into it in a future video.
I think I am going to sell my Retroid Flip and buy one of these. It's pretty lightly used, curious what people think I should ask for it.
Sounds good. Hope you love your RP5 if you buy one! You could check out my affiliate link in the description, only if you want to of course haha
Great video, thank you. I will be looking forward to the next one.
Thank you!
Can the RP5 handle the Gamecube titles SW Rogue Squadron 2 & 3?
I have a GC video coming soon. I'll check those games out!
@RyanRetro1 Thanks, they can be challenging to emulate
Just liked and subscribed
Loving the content although im very confused at how you got a review unit when your first video was the rp5, did you come from another main channel?
It's not a review unit I just asked them to send my order early
@@RyanRetro1 sometimes the simplist answer is the one no one thinks of I wish I had of thought of that because I wouldn't mind all the bugs it has at the moment anyway.
Any idea how scratch resistant the front glass are?
I'm definitely not going to be the one to test it 😂
@@RyanRetro1let one of the other TH-camrs - some have 2 RP5s
Do the sticks have enough travel? It is difficult for me to play shooters with the short sticks on my rp3
They do! Much more than something like the Switch.
Really need to make a video to solely set up the Zelda in detail.🤩
I should - It's working great
I ordered mine yesterday, I'm in Latvia. How long do you think I will have to wait? There is no word about it from Retroid. I was surprised to see that they are actually in France?
I'm sorry but I'm not sure how long it'll take. They shipped mine from China but maybe they also have an EU location?
@@RyanRetro1 I see, thanks :)
Question: when you use the HDMI cable, do you get audio out to the television, speakers or speaker system. I watched another video that says if you use the DisplayPort cable that you will not get audio to the TV, it will simply stay at the retroid device.
I'll have to test this and let you know. I'm working on a 2 player couch co-op video where I'll test the audio!
Can you test to see if the FM Radio is locked out ?
D/L NextRadio to check.
Thanks.
Okay I'll check it out
Hiya, I'm thinking of getting one of these myself, I would like to know whether it supports all known streaming apps through Android, Netflix, TH-cam, Amazon Prime and most importantly Apple TV... Reason is that I have a pair of Xreal 2 pro glasses and am hoping to replace my in line Android TV (Rokid) that doesn't support Netflix (I've also got a drawer of these things all the way back to Game Park 32-BLU and Open Pandora and most in between...
Oh that's actually a great idea for a video in of itself. I'll try to check this all out tomorrow and let you know!
@RyanRetro1 thank you sir, great work on the channel too
@@PureWickedAU Thank you!
I ordered mine on Nov 29th. I live in the USA. Does any know if I can expect to get it by Christmas?
I think it'll be close!
It's been 10 days? RP 5 is obsolete now. Onto the 6...
Anbernic attention spam
😂😂😂
Next month's RP8 Pro videos are gonna hit hard
How are you running Exhale of the Crazy? WII U, switch or streaming?
Do you have Zelda run natively on it or is it streaming from another device? Like are you using an emulator on the retro five itself? I’m just trying to gauge how good it can run Nintendo games through an emulator natively.
It's not streaming. It's running on the RP5.
