Thanks for your lunch video! Even though I'm from Southern California all my life and now a retired babysitting grandmother, I love your recipes! So attached to Japanese/Hawaiian cooking. Always satisfies everyones belly! LOL
I was very happy to see your return today, but I can appreciate that your days are so full enjoying time with Ellie that you do need some down time! Your cooking videos with mom and also with your mom and uncles are great and reminiscent of your grandparents’ cooking videos that I also enjoyed. We picked up some udon while in Japan last month with the intention of preparing it with a hot broth but it’s been quite warm these days so this cold udon would be perfect! I want to try your mom’s ponzu recipe too but I’m not very good at eyeballing when cooking thus am appreciative of your mom explaining the proportions of citrus and shoyu. Have a happy summer, and when time permits I hope you and mom do more cooking videos together❣️ As always, thank you for sharing your time and energy!
Thank you so much for the comment and kind words as always! The ponzu is good with a little orange.... makes it sweet. different from the ones you buy in the store.
I made this cold soba without the cooked watercress, and no eggs, i bought the store bought ponzu, was good my cold soba, we didnt fry the spam ate it the way it was, i added our salad on the bottom, and watercress raw with side mayo and shoyu...delicious!! thank you cari!!!
Aloha Cari and Gale, I am a big fan of your Channel. WATERCRESS, you can't get them here on the mainland and I love Watercress. You can find them in the Oriental Market, but nothing like yours in Hawaii. Boy do I miss it. Anyway glad to watch your channel.
@@Caritaira My husband and I were born and raised in Hawaii, I (Gretchen) born in the Big island(Hilo) and Greg born in Honolulu (Tripler Hospital). We left Hawaii 48 years ago, but it will always be our home. We miss the foods of Hawaii, so I love watching what you are making. Love it so much. Keep up the great recipes Love Love it. Gretchen.
I use watercress in a stir fry with ground beef, julienne cut carrots, minced garlic, sliced round onions, light shoyu, oyster sauce, pepper, pinch of sugar and watercress (cut into 2 in. pieces).
(tofu is ono with shoyu/mayo as well ... my dad (from Kauai) used it like a dip/sauce for practically everything!) Forgot to say, Walmart Milz sells Hula Udon.
So happy to see you're back to posting Cari! I think many of us have been wondering where you have been. Life with a toddler can be very busy! I love that your parents are so willing to be in your videos. I always wonder if we'd get a "passing through" glimpse of your dad! 😆 I need to tell you...that's awesome your mom still has her dishes and kitchenware....some of them I remember from my childhood! 🤣
❤ Love your channel! Two tips that I use that you might want to try. 1) Crack the egg on your counter instead of the rim of your bowl. This prevents shells from accidentally going into the bowl. I just gently drop the egg on the counter, very easy. 2) By adding a bit of plain water to your scrambled eggs, you’ll find that you’ll get fluffier eggs versus adding milk.
Hi Cari! Thanks for the video with your mom! I love your guys’ cooking videos. Reminds me of home and gives me more ideas for what to make for my toddler. More local kine kid- friendly lunch videos please!
Shoyu/mayo is our favorite dressing for veggies. My 2 year old grandbaby loves to lick the mayo only but we need to encourage her to eat her vegetable too! Would love to see more lunch videos!!
wow cari i see someone has a can of the amway energy drink, i buy amway too, but more on the bath and cleaning LOC products, i love there amways bar new soap and the color shampoo of amway, good stuff!!!
