I got a bit of teary eyed watching your Ohana, it brought back lovely memories of my grandparents who both also loved to cook together. They to lived & worked on the Ewa plantation on Oahu

Pork tofu is one of my favorite things to eat, plus it’s so easy to prepare. Hot rice…that’s all you need with this dish…maybe some pickled daikon, Sanbai Zuke (do they even sell that anymore), kamaboko with Best Foods mayo mixed with shoyu. Cari, your grandma is so cute. Please keep making your awesome videos with her in them. Makes me happy. Aloha from South Carolina!

Thanks for posting this. This is the closest to my mom's pork tofu recipe she used to make. Get all kine "fancy"kine when I Google, but i just want the simple "shoyu-sugar" style as my family calls it. This recipe is perfect

Yum, looks like another great recipe I have to try! I was glad to hear your dad talk about the pluses of pork. I wanted to tell you that when I made Uncle Benjie’s spam and veggie dish my spam to veggie ratio was heavier on the spam. I just made Uncle Owen’s beef tomato last night and the meat to veggie ratio was heavier on the veggie aside. Lol, I’m one day I’ll get things right, although I really like lots of veggies. Both dishes were well-received by my husband! I thought there would be so much beef tomato that we’d have leftovers, however I think my husband had three servings of the beef tomato, a first! There is barely enough for one serving left.
Thank you and the fam for sharing your time preparing food and videos. I have to say that Reid’s jokes the day you all went to the
Goat Farm and Old Waialua Sugar Mill had my eyes rolling, but they were an improvement over the previous time. Stay safe and take care, and many thanks again!

Hi Janice! Thank you so much for your comment. I love that you tried Uncle Benjie and Uncle Owen's dishes. Glad they were a success. I prefer them with more veggies to meat too! And I will share this with Reid to let him know his jokes are improving! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I almost never leave comments but here goes...I saw one of your episodes then saw this one and decided to try it. My great grandmother from Okinawa used to own a restaurant that got taken away after Pearl Harbor was attacked. She continued to cook though. Many people didn't even get to meet their great grandmother but mine passed when I was in high school so I knew her well and learned how to speak okinawan and japanese sorry so long but when I tried your recipe it reminded me of her made me miss her again but also made me thankful that I had my time with her. Thank you for your videos I will definitely try more now. 😊
