    Being a 27 y/o female, I always thought no way I can’t be an alcoholic this is just how young ppl party, but once it became binging every weekend, needing alcohol before anything…predrinking before a pedicure, before the movies, before the mall 💀 feeling like I can’t talk to dudes unless I’m lit, feeling like girls wouldn’t like me unless I’m lit, liking my drunk personality more than my regular personality, said “today im sad” so I get drunk, I said nah it went to far, im definitely gaining weight, constantly sick and hungover, calling off work mondays because the weekend messed me up too much …it went too far
    I’m on my journey to being sober , im only 3 weeks in but going to multiple parties + new years refusing alcohol is something I never imagined for myself
    Working to quit all of 2023 -> onwards

    • @Just_Judah
      @Just_Judah  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I TOTALLY get that. I used to feel like being sober would affect how people liked me as well. I used it as a crutch and social lubricant but you don't gotta get lit just to talk to people and have a good time. I also know what it's like to pregrame before EVERYTHING. You know you're drinking too much when you're pregaming before normal everyday activities.
      Congrats on your sobriety journey! You got this! I believe in you!

      Good luck and stick to your journey. I wanted to quit alcohol at the start of 2023 as well; I lasted 2 weeks and then I fall to the cravings. Getting back on the challenge now. God bless and hope you accomplish everything you wish.

      I’m 43 and if I could go back and tell my 27 year old self to stop drinking you better believe I would. I moved from Ohio to Atlanta for a job and so I “went out” as much as possible in the hopes of making friends and meeting women. It didn’t work and it made me a worse person.
      I should mention, by 27 I was already a functional alcoholic. I went to a party school and by the time I was done I was drinking 3 beers per day, minimum.

    Yes! 'Deal with it' is what I think now. Sober for almost 4-months after a decade of nearly daily drinking. My family members all have their reasons for drinking, and I want to tell them that it's weakness, selfishness, and there is no excuse. They almost laugh at my choice not to drink, as if it is a weakness. Nothing beats the benefits of not drinking, as you know.

      Congrats on your 4 months, that's amazing! Glad to hear that you're on that path. In all seriousness, the drinking never solved my problems back in the day. It would just mask the issues instead when I needed to just deal with it!

    The 'high' of quitting the drink, being sober and healthy in mind and body, winning the battle of it having a grip on your life, infinitely outweighs the temporary buzz you get from throwing booze down your hatch all the time just to numb yourself for a short while.
    Never has just not doing something been so greatly beneficial.
    And to those who encourage you to drink or who somehow coerce or belittle you.. you are far stronger than them and they simply can't handle it.
    Try quitting. One day at a time.. before long, the benefits will make you forget the drink entirely and it will not be a part of your life any more.
    You will be happier, healthier, fitter, more energetic, have more time, have clarity, feel your real feelings, process your emotions better, drop excess weight easier and save money.
    It's possible.. so take the first step!

    10:53 Super important. Booze floods us with dopamine and makes it hard to deal with the reality of life: it’s not always a party. Not always rough either, just a-okay. Another important thing I’ve realized in sobriety is that good god my life was boring. All I did to have fun was drinking. It dawned on me that if I’d like to stick to this, I should find some actually enriching things to do. Joined a book club, started hitting the gym, and I’m planning to get a bass with the money I’m saving and learn how to play it. Thanks for sharing, man, it’s helpful to hear from folks who have gone down this road and found it was actually a pretty good decision.

    136 days alcohol free today. The hardest part for me getting over alcohol was not wanting to drink instead of feeling like i'm not allowed to drink. Once I got that mindset it made it easier. I went two years abstinent and dry.
    Most peaceful two years. Something happened and I went somewhere that brought back old trauma. Drank broke my abstinence, grandma died, and used drinking to cop with my heavy work days. Gained a ugly soul tie continued for 6 months. Until lost two jobs quitting but mainly cause I was over worked tired miserable and drinking my time off away.
    Now I'm on day 34 sober, reclaiming my abstinence. Cut off the soul tie, received a new way to income produce. & I'm finally back at peace.
    Drinking goes hand in hand with abstinence for me. Lord the past 6 months were horrific. But I'm trying not to beat myself over it.
    Just focus on becoming a better version of myself. Cause the drunk me is not it!
    I started using ashwghanda which is a vitamin and has helped me alot with my anxiety and other triggers. I take it faithfully everyday.
    It may only be 34 days. But I'm aiming for another YEAR minimum.

      @Just_Judah  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm happy to hear that you're back on the right track. My condolences to your grandma as well, may she rest in peace.
      34 days and beyond! You can do this for that year, just keep choosing the abstinence and sobriety. I'm glad that you cut that bad soul tie and stopped drinking. A bad soul tie can be pretty horrific. And I'm glad that you got a new source of income!
      Ashwaghanda is fire as well! Been taking that and other herbs and vitamins lately. Best of luck on your journey! Bless up!

    It's good you gave it up at a young age. You will have a better quality of life. I'm 65 now. Drank for 50 years. Currently 2 years sober.
    It has definitely been a struggle in the past, but life is good now.
    I am thankful/blessed, that I'm still in good health. It usually, doesn't turn out that way for most. Hitting the gym 3x a week. Eating healthy.
    Gettin it done!!
    P.s.

    I have been struggling with staying sober for a while. I just got off a major binge last Saturday at 9pm from last Wed to then. I spent over 800 on only fans content, alcohol and junk food. I said some messed up sexually harrasing things to the women in my life who I've now lost from my life which I deserve. It's never been this bad for a long time. So it's day 4 now and I'm doing everything I can to stay away from my triggers and just listen to people who are sober around me and trying to do the aa thing plus therapy. I'm so ashamed of myself.

    • @Just_Judah
      @Just_Judah  ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Shame is natural. You're human, so it's unavoidable to feel shame about SOMETHING in your life from some point in your life. You just don't have to let it rule you. There is always redemption. There is always the room to create a better version of yourself and live out life as that better version of yourself. It'll take time and dedication, but you can escape that cycle! I believe in you. Sending prayers, peace and positive vibes your way.

    Only 2 weeks sober but pretty happy about it since I drank way too much the past 4 years and always got bad "hangxiety". It's great seeing another young person speak about giving up vices (I'm 23), I feel that society makes out that drinking is almost synonymous with being in your 20s.

    • @Just_Judah
      @Just_Judah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll be 31 next month but my best advice for you at your age is to slow down on the drinking as soon as possible! It isn't going anywhere, so you don't have to constantly drink it. I wish I would have recognized that sooner.
      It's good that you're recognizing early how it makes you feel and how you want to change that. Kudos to you! Congrats on your 2 weeks, wishing you the best on your journey!

    great video, i truly do think your advice is heartfelt and genuine and provides decent advice to those in our position. i asked my dad the other day how come as a teen why never really smoke or drank, despite growing up in the peak hippie era, he told me because he was always fine with himself, never saw a need to get high/drunk, and often had a natural 'life' high. it surprised and almost shocked me i hate to say, because then and there i realized i have never once experienced that in my almost 20 years of age. it really did make me stop and consider what i am doing, beyond that this video was the icing on top to this put things more into perspective. thank you for your video and for your advice, continue to make videos to inspire people

    • @Just_Judah
      @Just_Judah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing! That really puts things into perspective on my part as well. The people that are truly happy with themselves and their life usually aren't people that smoke or drink. They're "high on life".
      We all had a point where life was enough for us but at some point we pick up a habit that makes us feel like it isn't anymore. I'm just glad I realized I needed to get back to life being enough. Good luck on your journey! Peace!

    I've watched a ton of these sober vids since quitting a month ago (they seem to help reaffirm the mission), and gotta say this one's got some real Yoda sh!t going on in it. Just a very direct and real, no BS assessment filled with nugget after nugget of wisdom. I was functioning like you, but I needed to test a theory that most of my problems in life stem from this constant attachment to drinking and the inability to stop, and turns out I was pretty much right. Literally everything's been better since stopping. I also read a book called "This Naked Mind" in the beginning, can't recommend it enough to peeps who wanna quit or need some help along the way. Really solid read that gets right to the heart of removing our desire to drink. Knowing what I know now, I don't think I ever wanna go back to drinking again and giving away my power to that poison. Anyways, thanks for the solid vid man and best of luck on your journey!

    This is one of the better videos I've watched on this topic. Very well done. I've been a heavy drinker for about 20 years. Started with domestic light beer, then strong craft beer, and finally on to bourbon. It got to the point where I could drink an entire fifth in one sitting. My ex-wife cheated, divorced me, and took my 2 sons. I didn't know how to process how I felt, and discovered that if I drank enough it would shut down my brain function, and I could sleep.
    I'm giving sobriety a go. I don't like who I've become, and it's all because of alcohol. Thank you for the video, there's some solid advice and takeaways in it.

    I was completely straight edge from July 2016 - September 2022 - not even a sip of beer then I had five months of drinking. Jan 13th this year I decided to go back to that way of life as its my default state and stick to it until death. I don't mind alcohol but the lack of control and hangover and what it does to your brain and memory just isn't appealing to me. I'd rather face this life sober. After a while it isn't even difficult you just don't know any different.
    Great video dude!

      Wow, that was a long period of being a straight edge! But if you could do it for that long, I have no doubt you can stick to it lifelong. Once you make that decision and stick to it, you'd just live life as if it's not an option to drink! Good luck on the journey!

      @@themaestro5946 I lost about 30-40 pounds altogether. Still working on it though!

      @@themaestro5946 I have never really been overweight or underweight. Many, many benefits if you stop drinking - actually the benefits completely crush any good point one might think alcohol provides. I have been able to hit times I did when I was in my 30's - doubt that would have happened if I continued downing beers.
