  • Last time I checked in I was just past the 30 day mark and I was struggling. Now I've been sober for almost 2 months and I'm feeling really good! So I figured I should make an update on how things are going on my road to recovery.

What helped me the most in my journey is to stop searching for a passion that will magically take the place of my addictions but rather look around me and do the things that need to be done.

Very true. The place of your addictions doesn’t need to be filled. It needs to be released. Letting go and acceptance meditations help.

The battle never ends, usually for the spiritually empty cause we lack care for ourselve since we abuse. Everytime I think am cured is when I touch the first drink. Recovery is like crossing every bridge with 1 tight rope and no shoes, Just get back on when you fall off, It is going to take practice to stay straight it took time for us to dig this hole too! Goodluck everyone!

When I quit smoking weed I dream almost every single night and they're crazy vivid. Lasted about a month before things started getting normal again. It made me think about how bad weed affects your REM sleep. My sleep score went up 10 points since I quit.

I’m trying to quit vaping rn. I quit for almost a year and just picked it up again to have a “vice” because I don’t smoke and rarely drink. It’s hard. But I find that the more occupied I am with a list of hobbies to do everyday (write in my journal, play guitar, play Sims, go on a walk) the less I vape. Because I do it when I’m bored. So I try to always be doing something

For me, solutions need to be solving a specific problem.
I go to AA and the problem that solves is feeling alone in my journey. Your videos also help me feel less alone.
The problem is I have more problems to solve than loneliness. I also struggle with boredom and all work no play. Those are very dangerous problems for me because I'll use alcohol to act as a solution only to see it create 3 more problems.
The most impactful solution for me has been writing.
Everything. All thoughts, wants, needs, worries, goals, fears. Literally everything and anything I feel I should write down.
Writing will be a super power on the journey to actual and true self exploration and self discovery.
I'm so used to lying that writing helps cut through the bullshit because I don't have to share it with anyone. And lying to myself in writing just seems stupid.
Andrew Huberman podcasts with Dr. Paul Conti in recent days really goes into the critical importance of and science behind self exploration and awareness.

Dorian please keep doing what you're doing, I relate to these dead on. I went to wilderness therapy rehab at the age of 20 for drinking, and weed (and now that you mention it, video games) . It did feel odd sharing my drug of choice to fellow addicts who were addicted to heroin and meth. But after 2 months with them, sharing our stories, our adventures in the mountains, brewing coffee non stop over a fire, (we all shaved our heads too at one point) we were all brothers, We were all fellow addicts.

Been off the sauce for about a year and a half, but just starting to kick the weed. Glad I saw this. Got big things I need to get done. 20 years of constant smoking is enough, I think.

It's a start. Definitely is better than when you quit all these habits. If you take one day at a time, a year from now you will not believe how far you'll be from this moment. But it's a commitment. It's about what you value more. Anyway, it's good news. Keep it up!

Hello guys, I don’t have problems with alcohol or drugs, cigarettes or anything else, but I need to know how do you cope with video game addiction?
It’s my only addiction I have since was little kid and I wanna get rid of this, so I could focus.
Stay strong kings, you can do it and stop wasting money, time and health for nothing useful, wish you all the best.

I guess everyone has a vice to carry. Personally, I never had an issue with weed or other drugs. To be honest, I never tried anything else besides alcohol, tobacco, and weed. Quitting tobacco was quite hard, I've got to admit. And alcohol, I recently mai of 2023 stopped drinking and consuming it. But I never had the physical constitution for alcohol. A few beers in, about 3 or 4, and I get tired and go to bed Game over.

Weed has health benefits alcohol doesn’t, addicted to alcohol and you like weed. Weed without alcohol is better and “withdrawal” that people talk about is only for prescription drugs and meth, coke etc. I think in general men are too hard on themselves when they like something.

There are no health benefits to weed other then getting you high and helping you forget pain but so does alcohol. I smoked weed foe 10 years and never did I physically or mentally become healthier.
