Great lesson learned today do your research before buying anything. 1650$ is insane for a pc to just play genshin impact. Genshin is like such a low demanding game on top of the fact that it's fps capped at 60 you could literally run the game on a potato. 3:30 what I think hoagie meant was that in terms of future proofing the next gen of cpu from intel aka 15th gen will require a completely new motherboard then what's currently available. Since he has a 14th gen cpu which is the newest current gen it doesnt really matter if he goes with ddr4 or ddr5 motherboard because down the line if he wants to upgrade he will need a whole new motherboard anyways as no matter what motherboard he picks right now will be compatiable with the next gen of cpu. In terms of getting ddr5 to future proof ddr6 is already on its way give or take 2-3 years so by the time he even needs a new pc which given the spec he has wont be for a while he could easily get a way better newer pc. This is why future proofing is kinda dumb if your getting top end stuff. By the time the new great tech comes out because your pc was already the current best for that time period all the new stuff will be incompatible with your curent pc because they require the next generation of parts. Overall great entertaining video and if you ever build another pc please use pcpartpicker or some other online checker to understand the size and limitation of your component I find that they do a great job of eliminating parts that arent compatible with your pc for example the cooler yall bought on pcpartpicker the tool wont even allow you to add that item to your build cause it knows that it isn't compatible with your other parts

imho intel 14th gen are bad for mini itx build since they run ridiculously HOT and need beefier liquid cooling.. they are the hottest cpu in the market. very bad on running tighter spaces. radiator need some larger spaces to radiate the heat inside the very small case... may u could swap to mATX case with slightly bigger space, but yet u still on small factor. like lian li o11 mini or asus ap201 case... ryzen 5800x3d or 7800x3d is best build for gaming itx currently.. they run cooler and low power consumption. u dont really need liquid cooling for it
When you were talking about the memory I think you need to correct it a little bit, You cannot stick DDR4 Ram on that motherboard there just isn't a way to. It is only DDR5 Compatible. Since you're running the 12th-14th Gen CPU series from intel aka the i7 14700k he has to run DDR5 he cannot go DDR4 at all. If he did you'd have to take a trip back to micro center to exchange it. It is not about future proofing there just is 0 possibility of putting DDR5 into the sockets on that motherboard. You did a good job at explaining the differences just a little off on what you could do and might confuse other people new to building PC's. the RAM is mostly a combability issue not only with your motherboard but your CPU as well.
Pretty sure the 14th gen has motherboards, that support either DDR4 or DDR5 RAM sticks, so she is not wrong. it's the 7000 series Ryzen chips, that only have DDR5 motherboard options.

The small formfactor with a 14000 series processor is doomed to be hot af btw. Cooler is always and always will be the Arctic freezer for performance and price. AMD has a lot better upgrading path as well btw.
This is very entertainng tbh, but i am curious thou why go through all that trouble from buying a small case where errors and risks and potentially limited parts could occur anytime than just buying a regular sized case for less of those problems. Just curious thou.
