    Do you need to fix other PC issues?
    Let us know in the comments below, and we might feature the solution in our next video.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ‘But what if my PC shuts down randomly?’ you might ask.
    Well, random shutdowns cause nervous breakdowns. And turn hair grey. A turbulent computer is actually merciless: it can mess up your life, ruin your work or kill your reputation. Therefore, our task today is to address the ‘my pc shuts down automatically’
    drama and bring peace and stability into your life.
    Seriously, why does a PC turn off?
    Here are 12 most common reasons why a computer turns off without warning:
    - Overheating
    - Hardware Problems
    - Driver Issues
    - Malware Infection
    - Battery Problems
    - UPS / Surge Protector Failure
    - Insufficient Charger Voltage
    - Dodgy Sleep Mode
    - Fast Startup Disadvantages
    - Out-of-date BIOS
    - Software Failures
    - Problematic OS
    Work your way down to fix the random shutdowns:
    1. Overheating
    If your PC turns off without warning, heat-related issues might be at work.
    Heat-related problems usually stem from:
    - careless PC usage;
    - fan issues;
    - dust, dirt, hair, and other debris;
    - overclocking.
    Careless PC Usage
    To begin with, heat and your computer are a pretty bad combination. Therefore, ALWAYS keep your PC cool: every time you neglect this rule, you put your computer in a dicey situation. As a result, your motherboard shuts everything down to save your machine.
    To avoid PC overheating, follow these tips:
    - keep your computer out of hot places/zones;
    - get air circulating around your PC;
    - never place your computer close against the wall;
    - do not expose your computer to direct sunlight;
    - do not use your computer in humid conditions;
    - use a cooling pad (if you are a laptop user);
    - if your PC seems alarmingly hot, change the thermal paste.
    Fan Issues
    If your video card fans, case fans, or processor fans malfunction, they cause overheating.
    Dirt and Dust
    The truth is, dusty computers tend to bite the dust first. Dust, dirt, food remnants, hair, and other stuff can overheat your computer by preventing proper air circulation.
    Overclocking
    If your PC has been overclocked, its components may not be able to meet the increased power demands.
    2. Hardware Problems
    Hardware issues can force your computer to shut down randomly.
    - Check Disk Utility
    - Check whether your hard disk drive is working properly.
    3. Driver Issues
    Faulty or out-of-date drivers can lead to random shutdowns in Windows 10
    4. Malware Infection
    If your computer is acting really weird and keeps shutting off spontaneously, you should scan your system as soon as possible - such symptoms are indicative of malware infection.
    5. Battery Problems
    With time, laptop users tend to run into battery issues. So, if your venerable laptop has become too unpredictable and keeps shutting down without your permission, your battery might be the one to blame for this kind of misbehavior.
    6. UPS / Surge Protector Failure
    Do you use a surge protector or an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)? If yes, make sure the device in question is not the root of the evil: plug your computer directly into the power outlet and see if it works properly.
    7. Insufficient Charger Voltage
    If you use resource-heavy programs or apps, you may need a charger with a higher voltage capacity.
    The preferred charger voltage for excessively used computers is from 100w to 240w.
    8. Dodgy Sleep Mode
    Sleep Mode is a great option if it works properly: it preserves energy and lets you wake up your sleeping computer within just a few seconds. However, Sleep Mode may become dodgy in Windows 10 and cause random shutdowns instead of anticipated sleep.
    9. Fast Startup Disadvantages
    The Fast Startup option helps your computer boot up faster. Unfortunately, Fast Startup may account for spontaneous shutdowns.
    10. Out-of-date BIOS
    If unexpected shutdowns keep happening, consider updating your BIOS. This procedure must be performed carefully - otherwise, your PC can be irreversibly damaged. Therefore, if you are uncertain of your expertise, we recommend you to seek professional assistance.
    11.Software Issues
    Certain software issues can trigger random shutdowns.
    Watch out for:
    - Corrupted or missing system files
    - Non-optimal system settings
    - Faulty apps
    - Junk files
    - Windows registry issues
    12. Problematic OS
    Windows issues deserve particular attention. To prevent them from hogging the limelight, we’d better discuss them here.
    So, if nothing seems able to put an end to this ‘shutdown nightmare’, you might as well admit that your OS is not OK. Things might have gone wrong after your upgrading to Windows 10.

    Hello, I have a HP stream cloudbook 11 which intermittently / randomly shuts off without warning. The longest it stays on for is around 5 mins, and shortest is a few seconds. However, there was a period when it stayed on long enough for windows 10 to install and seemed to work okay for a while. The laptop does not have a fan and it shuts down even when the laptop is cold. the laptop shuts down even when in bios. I have tried the following but the problem persists:
    1. checked the heat sink and applied a fresh thermal pad
    2. Disconnected keyboard, trackpad, screen, WiFi card, etc
    Any idea where on the motherboard the fault could be? Thanks in advance

    I have a problem where my laptop randomly decides to turn off at 34 or 29 something percent while unplugged, it might be because i accidently had it plugged in during a power surge or the battery is so bad that it can't even hold a charge anymore, i did a virus scan and got nothing i changed my power plan and it weirdly made my laptop turn off at a different power level.
    I don't know what to do at this point so i might consider getting a new laptop all together in the future, because ever since i've had this HP laptop, i always tend to have certain issues with it like stuttering, black screens, freezing, etc.

    • @auslogics
      @auslogics  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Here are some potential solutions based on the problems you’ve described:
      1. Laptop turning off at a certain battery percentage. This could be due to a battery calibration issue. You can try recalibrating your battery by fully charging it, then letting it discharge until the laptop shuts down. After that, charge it to 100% again. If this doesn’t work, the battery might be faulty and need replacement.
      2. Laptop issues after a power surge. Power surges can cause various issues, including damage to the USB ports and other components. If you suspect a power surge has caused the problem, you might want to consider taking your laptop to a professional for a hardware diagnostic.
      3. Stuttering, black screens, freezing. These issues could be due to outdated drivers, system file corruption, or even malware. Make sure your drivers are up-to-date, especially your graphics driver. You can also run a system file check (sfc /scannow in the command prompt) to repair corrupted system files. Lastly, ensure your antivirus software is up-to-date and run a full system scan.
      If these steps don’t resolve your issues, it might be worth considering a thorough hardware and software check by a professional.

      In this case you may want to try the following:
      1. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
      2. Check for Dust.
      3. Test RAM. You can use a tool like Windows Memory Diagnostic or MemTest86 to check for potential issues with your RAM.
      4. Test your laptop with a different power adapter or battery (if available) to rule out power-related problems.
      5. Check for error messages in the Event Viewer (you can find this in the Control Panel). System logs might provide information about the cause of the crashes.
      6. Consider a fresh OS install. If all else fails, a clean installation of the operating system might help eliminate software-related issues. Ensure that you back up important data before proceeding.
      7. If the problem persists, even after attempting the above steps, it may be beneficial to consult with a professional technician or the laptop manufacturer for a more in-depth diagnosis.
      Given the age of the laptop, it's also worth considering the lifespan of components like the GPU. If none of the above helps, it might be a sign that some hardware components are reaching the end of their operational life.

      @@auslogics I can safely say that I diagnosed the problem. Now I know when it's turning off and restarting. And sometimes when it freezes and before getting restarted I hear weird beeps

    • @auslogics
      @auslogics  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Based on your description, the issue is hardware, overheating or power supply related. These recommendations apply:
      1. Check for Overheating.
      2. Update Graphics Drivers. Visit the official website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) and download the latest drivers for your GPU.
      3. Check for Memory Issues. Run Windows Memory Diagnostic:
      - press Win + R, type mdsched.exe, press Enter.
      4. Use the original power adapter to eliminate power supply issues.
      5. Check for System Errors.
      If the issue persists after trying the above steps, we recommend consulting with a professional technician, especially if the laptop is still under warranty.
      Remember to back up important data regularly, and if you're uncomfortable performing hardware-related tasks, seek assistance from a local technician to avoid accidental damage.

    • @auslogics
      @auslogics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are several possible reasons that could cause such an issue:
      - Hardware problem (having a different file system, the drive gets disconnected, and if it hasn’t been accessed for a long time, it may go to Sleep Mode (disconnect);
      - Software problem (partitions have different file systems (apfs for macOS and ntfs for Windows) which can't be accessed from another OS, and the OS can’t access the new file system without correct drivers or a special program.
      We can recommend using a cloud for transferring files to another OS. Also you can try programs made by Paragon Software.

      @auslogics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Modern laptop batteries perform several functions including voltage control to power the motherboard. Once the RAM has been changed, your motherboard power settings most likely have been changed too, which can’t be controlled without the battery. In order to resolve the issue, we recommend using your laptop with a battery.

      1. Insufficient RAM or processor’s power. In this case stopping all unnecessary programs and processes before running 3Ds Max should help.
      2. Overheating of the processor or graphics card (if integrated). Please make sure your laptop is clean of the dust and well ventilated.
      3. Your laptop’s performance does not allow running the program.
      4. Corrupt 3Ds Max files. You can try downloading the installation file from the official website and see if it helps.
      5. Corrupt system files. Check for available Windows updates (Settings >> Windows Update >> Update) and install them all.

      With continued use, the battery life will decrease over time. If the system shuts down at 45%, it means that the actual charge is just 1% at the moment, and you may need to replace the battery. In the meanwhile you can avoid unexpectable shutdown by applying the following settings:
      - click the battery meter on the taskbar, and then “More power options” (search “power settings” or Advance power settings in Start menu on Windows 10);
      - click “Change plan settings” on your current power plan;
      - click on “Change advance power settings”;
      - scroll down and click the + sign of the battery to expand settings;
      - click on “Low battery level” and change “On battery” to > 55%;
      - click on “Critical battery level” and change it to 50%;
      - click on “Critical battery action” and change it to “hibernate”.

      Random shutdowns can be caused by several reasons:
      1. Physical damage of the motherboard (in this case you will need to take your PC to a service center).
      2. Graphics card and CPU overheating (please check the temperature of each module, you can use the AIDA64 program).
      3. RAM malfunctioning (to check the RAM you can use the Memtest86+ program).
      4. We would also recommend checking your system for errors with Auslogics BoostSpeed.
      5. Please try checking your PC for viruses as well (you can use an antivirus software such as Outbyte AVarmor or a similar program).

      We recommend checking the laptop's functionality in the system BIOS. Boot to the system setup screen and try moving the laptop, to see if the system turns off even in BIOS. To enter BIOS, restart your computer and press the F2 key when the laptop logo appears. If your laptop does not turn off while in BIOS, we recommend checking its hard drive in a service center.
      If your laptop shuts down in BIOS:
      power reset your laptop if its battery can be removed without disassembling the case (if that is not the case, we strongly advise against disassembling it yourself).
      - shut down your Windows if it’s open
      - if it is not and the system has power, hold the power button until there’s no power
      - unplug any external peripherals connected to your laptop
      - unplug the power cord and remove the battery from the battery compartment
      - hold the power button for about 15 seconds
      - power reset (power light should blink briefly)
      - reconnect the power cord now and turn on your system.
      If the laptop keeps working with no battery in, please check the battery health in a service center.

For this, open Control Panel => Power Options => Processor power management. Change the value next to “Maximum processor state > Plugged in” from 100% to 90% or lower. Check if the problem is resolved.

    • @auslogics
      @auslogics  ปีที่แล้ว

      The charge level indicator in Windows might not show 100% charged due to a change in the battery capacity. We recommend testing your battery’s capacity and calibrating it if necessary (to reset the battery gauge, so it will accurately display the charge level). You can use the powercfg command to test the battery or one of the free programs (BatteryCare, BatteryCat, BatteryMon, BatteryInfoView). If your battery level always shows 0% and the laptop turns off once unplugged, your battery is probably damaged and needs to be replaced.

      First, please make sure that your laptop is charged. Connect it to a power cable and try to turn it on. If this doesn’t help, remove your battery and try again. In case the laptop doesn’t boot, we recommend taking it to a service center.
      You can try to determine the source of the problem by yourself, to understand how big the issue is. Find your drive indicator light, press the power button and see if it lights up. If it does, the problem is probably with the graphics card or matrix. If there is no response, the hard drive might be at fault. You can also check if the laptop’s screen is in order by connecting it to a PC. If there is no image on the computer monitor, the laptop screen is corrupt. Computer monitor showing an image means that there is a problem with your motherboard or drive.

    My acer vx15 1050ti turns off when i play tekken 7 after 3 mins. I tried to undervolt it and it became better. But i dont know what is the cause of the problem. Is it the ram, cpu, gpu, motherboard, charger. Im drained by this problem, my head hurts. 😢 is there someone with the same case and have idea how to fix? Thanks!

    • @auslogics
      @auslogics  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Given that undervolting has improved the situation, it's likely that the issue is related to overheating. Undervolting can help reduce heat generation, making it a common approach to prevent thermal throttling and sudden shutdowns. Here are some specific considerations for each component:
      1. GPU. The undervolting improvement suggests that the graphics card (GPU) might be running too hot. Ensure that the GPU drivers are up to date. It is also advisable to monitor the GPU temperature during gameplay using tools like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor.
      2. CPU. High CPU temperatures can also lead to shutdowns. Monitor the CPU temperature during gameplay. Consider adjusting in-game settings to reduce CPU load.
      3. RAM. While less likely, high RAM temperatures or faulty RAM could potentially contribute to stability issues. Run a memory test to check for any issues.
      4. Motherboard. The motherboard itself might not be the primary cause, but it's the platform for all components. Ensure that the laptop's cooling system (including fans and vents) is clean and functioning properly.
      5. Charger/Power Supply. An insufficient power supply could lead to instability. Ensure you are using the correct and original power adapter for your laptop. A faulty charger might not deliver the required power.
      In summary, the most likely culprit seems to be related to the GPU or CPU overheating. Continue monitoring temperatures, and consider adjusting in-game settings to reduce the workload on these components. If the problem persists, you may want to consult with Acer support or a professional technician for a more thorough diagnosis and potential solutions.

For this, press Win+R => type in control => select ""Large icons"" from the ""View by:"" menu => Power Options => turn on Balanced (recommended) => click on ""Change plan settings"" next to ""Balanced (recommended)"" => press “Restore default settings for this plan” => OK. Reboot your laptop once it's done.
      One of the most common reasons for such problem is overheating, especially when the system is loaded by games or other resources-consuming applications. Please make sure that your laptop is nor overheating and the fan is not blocked. Another common reason for a laptop to shut down is dust. If you haven’t cleaned your device in a while, we would recommend taking it to a service center for a check and clean up.
      If overheating is not the case, check the state of your battery. You can do so by connecting your laptop to a power socket and see if it shuts down after a couple of hours of work. If it doesn’t, most probably the battery needs to be replaced.

      If your PC can stay on for at least a short period of time, we recommend using BIOS or utilities such as SpeedFan for temperature and power supply voltage monitoring, to determine if the problem is caused by overheating or voltage fluctuations.
      If the PC can't be turned on even for a few minutes, check the power supply and cables, to make sure that everything is connected and works correctly.

    I'm assuming it's my OS so i've tried this method now and i hope it will fix itself.
    My laptop just refuses to give me a warning even though i have all my settings on and all problems have been fixed according to system errors.
    If this doesn't solve it, i mean i can live with it but as of right now i just want everything back to normal, just in case i made sure to reset all my setting back to default and see if there's anything that could potentionally solve it

      The issue you described usually occurs when the Intel Management Engine (ME) fails to initialize properly, and triggers a watchdog timer that forces the system to shut down. The Intel ME is a subsystem that controls various functions of your device, such as power management, security, and performance. However, sometimes the ME may get corrupted or incompatible with your BIOS or firmware, and cause errors and conflicts that affect your system stability.
      To fix this issue, you need to clean the ME region in your firmware image, which is the part of the BIOS that contains the ME settings and data.
      Please pay close attention that this process is risky and may damage your device if done incorrectly. Therefore, please proceed with caution and backup your important data before attempting it. If you are not comfortable with modifying your firmware, you may want to contact HP support or a professional technician for assistance.
      Cleaning the ME region means removing any corrupted or unnecessary data and restoring the default configuration of the ME.
      For this you will need the ME Analyzer tool, to analyze and modify the ME region of your firmware image, and UEFITool, to extract and insert the ME region into your firmware image.
      • Backup your current firmware image by using a tool like FPT or Flashrom, or by downloading it from the HP website.
      • Open UEFITool and load your firmware image file.
      • Find the ME region by searching for the GUID {1BA0062E-C779-4582-8566-336AE8F78F09}.
      • Right-click on the ME region and select Extract as is to save it as a separate file.
      • Open ME Analyzer and drag and drop the ME region file into it.
      • ME Analyzer will show you the information and status of your ME region. If it says "Dirty" or "Corrupted", you need to clean it.
      • To clean the ME region, type the command "clean" and press Enter. ME Analyzer will create a new file with the suffix "_clean".
      • Go back to UEFITool and right-click on the ME region again. Select “Replace as is” and choose the cleaned ME region file.
      • Save the modified firmware image file by clicking File > Save image file.
      • Flash the modified firmware image file to your device by using a tool like FPT or Flashrom, or by following the instructions from the HP website.
      After flashing the modified firmware image, your device should boot normally and not shut down after 30 minutes.
