Ooooh this is certianly a surprise, you did a good job covering pretty much everything - even the really obscure things like the BPM button which I thought absolutely nobody knew about!! Fantastic work 🙏🙏
6:06 you can actually still find these triggers by copying an old level using them, and it stays the same. You can even change the colors, you can use it without any problem!
For me too but I started playing the full version like 2 years ago with all the custom levels etc too and I still like it but it's in development hell so I kinda wait for now
Yeah it gets forgotten because its a mobile game and a lot of people are biased towards mobile games... Although it also exists on steam too, the stigma remains...
Fun Fact: You can still use the old color triggers by copying a level made during the time they were in the game and putting them into your custom objects
I've recently been getting back into GD, (Beat Clubstep and Toe2) and to come back and have a sneak peek for 2.2 AND a lost bits video is just too awesome.
Note: All of the unused blocks can still be accessed and used in the game, they're just not available in the standard editor tabs. You can make a shortcut for them by adding them to a custom object.
I’ve been a hardcore gd fan ever since a couple months after the release, and I though I had basically seen it all at this point over the countless videos I’ve watched on things like this. This covered pretty much everything and I didn’t know that bpm button ever existed. you learn something every day.
In the first frame of RobTop's Video of the beta, you can see a early version of the Level Editor or the Online levels menu which is different from the final version.
Fun fact: For a VERY short time, the game was called Geometry Jump but rob had to change the name of the game because the game was denied on the App Store because of the name for whatever reason. So he had to change the name to Geometry Dash, He submitted the game to the Google Play Store first so it was called Geometry Jump there, so he took it down and renamed it. (Also if you look in the files, a lot of this have the letters gj at the start of the name instead of gd.)
7:00 That unused Start Position texture is actually a placeholder block. For example it can be seen whenever you select Custom Delete for the text object. Select the text object > Delete > Custom
Thing you missed in the ultimate destruction trailer: If you turn up contrast and brightness at the very beginning of the video, you can see an early UI for the created levels page
Don't know if it still exists, but I remember that there was a level in existence which had the unused fade trigger, and the level was a copyable. So basically, you could copy the trigger from the level and use the unused faded trigger in your own level. I don't know if this level still exists (this was in 2.0), but it was very neat to be able to use it.
There is also a different kind of slope. It appears as an outline slope from pre 2.1 but it has been replaced with slightly a different version. You can still get it though, you must go tho gd colon's account and find the "block ids" level (idk the name), copy it and go to the object 620 (i might be wrong with the id, it is around there), and then add it to custom objects. You will know what it is once you see it
Before 2.2 the scratch image was used in GD meltdown after watching all the ads that can give you rewards in the free chests section. Used in 2.2 but may not be used 2.21
You missed something that I'd like to point out: In the Geometry Dash 2.1 trailer, the dash orbs were triangular, and the dash orb that flips gravity was red. In the release of 2.1, they changed the orbs to arrows, and the gravity dash orb was changed from red to magenta
Um well this is interesting I never thought I would see this ever happened strange because I started getting back into Geometry Dash what a coincidence
Well, there's much more hidden in the game you missed. Like, in earlier versions of GD there were blue coins which had no purpose at first, but later were reworked into silver coins and got a role of being "User coins", which are coins in the user created levels. Or several removed triggers which were then replaced by the current ones like triggers "Counter", "+" and "-", first of which was then replaced with "Count" and "Instant Count" and two others with just "Pickup". Also, you know there were those promo pictures which were teasing the new update of the game? (the infamous "Coming soon" images) Well, some of them contain several details which were rather removed or reworked into something different like the mushroom icon from GD 2.0 promo (it's hat was pixel-rounded before, nowadays it's just square). And some of the 2.0 blocks on the image of new (for that time) "robot gamemode". And that's only the tip of the iceberg... Oh shazzle, I wasn't supposed to mention icebergs...
3:07 Geometry Dash WORLD* Geometry Fash Subzero songs are not included in the official game because the subzero version is a part of the 2.2 update's code.
Every single time I come back to his channel, I always hear some sort of Battle Network music. It makes me smile everytime. I believe the DS version of the ship comp is used in the intro this time
a really weird thing i found in this game is that if you beat a level, turn off internet, and tap on the watch replay button, it actually shows you a replay, but you can’t export it.
Please do the room games lost bits they are very underrated and I can’t find any unused content from these games anywhere. They’re cheap and short, so I’d love to see you try them out!
6:06 I found these textures in the game but it requires gd world and gd, and what you do is make sure you have a account on the main game make a new level that is copyable (make sure to make the name easy to find) verify it, play it then save your account data then now time for gd world to come in now copy the level, now check the triggers tab and so you know this is the beta 2.2 editor after and you can find all The textures right there so that is not a lost bit it's found now hope this helps :) Edit: yeah load your account on gd world and boom it's done or just play high score because it's copyable I think
Fun fact: On mobile, if you beat a level (or use pause screen after death) you can see the ever-play button is still there, though tapping on it doesn’t do anything, if you turn your device on airplane mode, you can access ever-play.
There's one sound effect was unused in the game, the sound is called counter3 (I think) but is just a sound effect that use in a deleted game made by Robert named boomlings and is also the name for the gd servers that robtop use till this day
you missed some, Like an unused spritesheet from the beta builds of the game, Few blocks that have been removed from the editors toolbox but can still be placed by going to levels that use them and copying it, a End trigger that existed since the games release but had no code (also its actually returning in the 2.2 update), a Button in the gauntlets menu that refreshes the page (accessible with hacks), a Ship sprite that lasted I think until 1.4, Some text in the texture files that are probably use for debugging purposes, Google+ buttons, And lastly a sun sprite.
Ultimate Destruction never got to see the light of day because robtop said: It was just a showcase, not intended for public release And they didnt really have the rights of the song
Ah yes, that game that i played a lot during my childhood but i never cared to get past the 5th map But seriously, a friend of mine is amazing at rythm games but still suffered like hell with this (he still managed to beat the last level, but the frustration i saw him go trough just confused me as to why he just kept playing) most of the game relies in memorization instead of reflexes and just tapping with perfect timing In harder levels the game just devolves into a difficulty so precise that it becomes humanly impossible outside of just luck, unless you want to tell me that you can beat the hardest levels consistently without dying
1:16 the level in the mp4 file is called "Ultimate Destruction", and it was originally going to be in GD's initial release, but unfortunately, it was never added to the game. (Oh btw this is the first ever level in GD. This level is 10 years old, at the time of this comment, so that goes to show that GD is aging, and the level id is 3, so that means that this is the oldest GD level. In fact, it's was made so early in GD's history, that Geometry Dash was called Geometry Jump :/)
