Hey guys, welcome to LOST BITS! Where I will cover unused, unreleased and unseen things in various games! With Super Mario 3D Would and Bowser's Fury coming out soon, I thought it'd be a good time to check out the original SM3DW for the Wii U! Super Mario 3D World had a bunch of changes seen from it's early demo build, and the final game also contains a few unused leftovers! Hope you enjoy!

My theory about the colored rails is that these would change color depending on the On-Off Switch's state.

The BEATSYNC track was probably meant to test the timing on the casino mini game. I've heard people say if you hit the blocks in in time with the music it helps with timing so idk
Could have also been for testing the Beat Blocks, it fits pretty well if you imagine it in one of those stages.
Also with the name house, I assume it meant house music (the sub genre of hip-hop)
I can confirm that hitting the slot blocks in time with the music helps; it's gotten me the jackpot most of the time (and usually, I'd miss just because I was off a bit).
That said, the BEATSYNC track seems a bit slower than the slot bonus music but much closer in tempo to the Beat Block piece, so it's probably for the Beat Blocks.

"BEATSYNC" is meant to be a song used for stages that are synced to the music. It was most likely used for one of those bonus areas that could be seen around, for bonus stars. It was possibly a scrapped idea to have one of those bonus areas use the Beat Sync Mechanic that is used in certain stages.

I think the red and blue rails may have had something to do with the flipping platforms like they would pop in and out of existence if you jumped. Imagine a platforming stage where to create the platforms you had to jump. Just my take

I actually heard most of the screen music at around 8:20, not by removing the disc, but the game being very slow to load, on a Wii U. Wii U number one door stopper, not helpful for most other things.

I think those are in relation to the On-Off Switch Blocks found in the same level as those images.
A lot of times, thin 3d forms are given solid primary colors during development because fully coloring them before their code is done can cause the model to "tear"
As someone who has experimented with Nintendo BGMs, that studder basically indicates when the song should loop, if you listen to it raw then you'll hear a studder.

8:09, my disk apparently had to be cleaned and I didn’t know it, until I tried to play the game., expecting the load time to be much faster, but I did have the opportunity to listen to the full loading theme while that was happening. So... yeah.

3:17 In that interest of time, you coulda just isolated the character selection sound from Street Fighter II… This is a bit of a hot take, but when I first came across the boosts in the level "Mount Must Dash", the sound they made, to 13-year-old me (and still nowadays), was pretty much one in the same.
I think the different-coloured rails would've had something to do with the On/Off block.
The little jingle that plays when Its loading, I always have heard it and now its nostalgic

8:11 I got to hear the full track when I first bought the game, because, for some reason, the disc had a hole in it and it crashed on that banner and I listened to it for a solid 10 minutes before discovering it had crashed and I needed to buy a new copy 😞😂
I originally heard the full track of "Getting Ready" (the song that plays during the banter) because the game crashed on my Wii U and would very poorly loop to the beginning. It would do it every now and then but when it happened the first time I thought my game broke and I had to buy a new one.
Still love this game more than any other mainline Mario game tho

I was actually able to hear the extended opening theme. My Wii U is very old and began to broke down a few years ago. Whenever me and my brother popped in this game, it played that screen indefinitely. I remember hearing it and feeling such disappointment. We played the rerelease for hours because we had lost two copies of the game to my broken console.

The joke about the Mario OC reminded me of how, before Galaxy's release, there was some guy on the Nintendo Nsider forums whose OC Mario fan-character and profile icon was "Ice Mario." They posted a rant the day that the Ice Flower was announced about how Nintendo was stealing his OC. If I wasn't a dumb teenager also making bad OC's, I would've screenshotted it, but so much of it's lost to time as Nintendo nuked their Nsider forums in 2007 or so when they reached a certain member count.

My guess for the coloured rails is that they were used in conjunction with the jump flip panels. If you jumped, the rails would change colour, and the whole platform would flip 180 degrees meaning back is forward and forward is back. Only a thought though :)
That's actually a pretty interesting and terrifying idea for a stage gimmick.

The red and blue rails were probably for when you hit the red and blue ! blocks in switchboard levels. Not only would the some track pieces, but the the color of the rails would also change to make it easy to tell what setting the track was on.

btw another way to hear the full track for the menu is if the game is broken and when u turn off the wii u console [cannot go to home menu] it corrupts the gamepad screen for trying to load sprites that are broken

Cool drawing-ified Cat Mario in the thumbnail! Reminds me of this computer app my dad got on his Windows XP almost 10 years back called "FotoSketcher", which had a feature that changed photos to look something like that.
@TetraBitGaming I think I found where the colored rails could have been used, in one of the levels on the space world you get after beating the game, it has rails that are toggled with a switch and change direction when the switch was hit. It's likely they could have used it there to match the color the switch was when hit.
Another tip. The reason why the rails are red and blue is as you can see in the switchboard level, at one part there are these blocks that go from red to blue that switch up the rails. They were originally intended to change the color too but to make it simple it got cut

Those items can probably have the mega mushroom setting more for whatever level editor they developed for the game, just incase they ended up placing them near a mega mushroom setting.

STM_BGM_TEST_BEATSYNC was probably for testing Beep Block Skyway's mechanic (or at least I would assume so).
"BEATSYNC" seems to imply that it was for testing the timing of the platforms and such.

7:44 After this I wanted to play Super Mario 3D world so I dusted of my wii u, then when I entered the disc it just hanged, until I held the power button for 4 seconds and boot it back up again, just to realise how dirty it was (the disc)
Super Mario 3D world is my favourite game and it brings back so many memories
