I feel this HAD to be the result of rushed development,given how they promised all this unused content to be reincorperated and it still goes unused but at least still referenced in say the multiplayer mode shows they had to have been pressed for time without a doubt
In the steam page, they said SOME of what was cut from the original game was going to be brought back, (a.k.a Robo-Squidward and Patrick’s Dream) not all of it, and they did keep their promise because they did bring those back, just in multiplayer, something we knew for a long time.

It’s so disappointing that they decided to re-scrap all of the scrapped content, and just put it to the multiplayer modes. I would love to play the unused bosses (Robo Squidward and Musclebob) I would also love to play the unused Patrick’s dream stage. I wish they just kept it in instead of making them small islands in the multiplayer modes.
I had a random idea of repurposing Patrick's unused dream as "Larry's Dream". I thought it would be amusing to have the weight-lifting, health-conscious lifeguard secretly dreaming of sweets and junk food. Lol

The only thing in the video that could be in the game was Patrick's dream, which was removed both times for different reasons. Nobody is rioting in the streets for the Shelf cut of BFBB
The unused objects/levels appear in those places because they imported the old levels to the new engine. They forgot to remove those objects/levels in particular but removed the others because they were way more obvious. That's why some unused content from the original game is also seen in the remake, and why others aren't.
So wouldn’t that be evidence that they did have more time to work on the unused content? If all placements, levels, and assets copy and pasted would free up way more time for something original.

Considering we have the pieces for the scraped contents already In the game on PC if it isn't at all added back in officially modders will try and find a way to do it anyway.
I found a lot of original models still in the files for this game, such as original Strongarm Robospongebob, original Robo Plankton, and original King Neptune, I'm assuming they used the original files to model over as reference and left some pieces from the original game as Easter Eggs for players of the original to still find and enjoy
Spongebobs gay I’ve gotten the cowboy robot glitched out twice and it’s the funniest thing to me. It makes him float in the air, while having a little seizure
Poor patrick. Doesn't have a Semi boss. Had 2 things that had to do with him being scrapped. His robot version explodes meanwhile the other 2 just get turned off
I was actually so hyped that the box said that they used cut content. Ofcourse I was most excited for Patrick's dream world and Robo Squidward. I also thought they would've implemented an option in the menu where you could switch to the unused thunder and love tikis. Unfortunately nothing of that happened.
They should add the boss fights and Patrick's dream as a "hard mode" of sorts where it just adds them where they were originally intended, instead of leaving them as scraps in the multiplayer

My guess is they had code to follow for the rest of the game, but they didn't for the scrapped stuff so it would've taken too long to put that stuff in.

Because the multiplayer mode was announced and they started suggesting that they'd put stuff in there instead. Later when people visited the studio they talked about how there was a charm to things like the blank Patrick's dream and that they don't want to disrespect the original by adding in content that they weren't happy with. So it was left out, and more suitable cut content like robo squidward and more playable chcracaters. were added to multiplayer It was this choose CE to be faithful that led to them not recasting voice actors like Me Krabs even though Clancy Brown is always available for SpongeBob related projects, they wanted to be faithful to the original, even in the parts where the original failed
Game Dev Here. That checkered texture is common as a default in many modeling/texturing programs. Its like those purple and black checkerboards you see sometimes on unused models. IIRC Unreal engine objects have that as the default as well. Likewise a lot of the textured duplicates are likely just leftovers from development that never got cleaned up, the unused textured objects are probably some poor sob that was just retexturing objects without knowing where they went and did some by accident. When you plot stuff down in unreal sometimes you'll dupe something and just hide it instead of deleting it.

Edit: It turns out that the old game was made with RenderWare, that was also utilized by GTAIII, Vice City and SA. Interesting.

I would totally love for Patrick's dream to be added, it was the thing I was most excited for when they originally announced they were adding cut content. I'm still happy with the game but there is so much missed opportunities with regards to Easter eggs and cut content rather then simply packaging it all in the multiplayer.
I wish they would have added the unused stuff in as some sort of alternate campaign, like maybe an "Original" campaign that stays as true as possible to the original game and a " Rehydrated" campaign that includes the unused stuff and maybe some other small changes, maybe like something you would unlock after finishing the the Original campaign.
2:28 that might be an empty box used for loading screens & transitions. Similar looking boxes are present in lots of other games for that purpose at least and tend to use the checkered texture as well.

8:56 I think I know why Patrick’s dream is a dark void instead of this. In one episode of Spongebob, Spongebob is somehow “dream hopping” as I like to call it, and when spongebob get’s to Patrick’s dream, it’s a white void with Patrick riding one of those pay rides at supermarkets.
I'm honestly disappointed the unused things mentioned such as Patrick's dream, Squidward's Robot battle, and the Anchor armed Spongebot Squarebolt went unused in this game. I'm really hoping there will be an update where these will be added in somehow. Seriously, before this game released, I wanted to see these playable in full not like as part of the Multiplayer mode they added.
Honestly I’m very happy with how they stayed true. I would have been very disappointed if they changed anything because this is a game I hold very dearly to me.
Maybe someday they could add an extra content section, for stuff like all the unused maps you can just immediately load into, and even just replay fighting bosses right then and there.
I do remember, in an interview with the devs before the game's release, that they claimed to bring back Patrick's Unused Dream. But I guess it proved to be too much...
In a later interview, the same devs said that they walked back on that decision as they wanted to be faithful to the original and thought it would be better to put any cut content into the multiplayer mode.
They had a great budget all things considered, and they made good pace for most of the dev cycle. They CHOSE to not implement the content a month or 2 in as they wanted it to be faithful to the original final release

Not too sure about the Speedobob musclepants phase tho. (Side note, i wished that the sock in the theater could've made special dialogue from patrick with it, it would go like "wow spongebob, you found my other other sock!" "it looks the same as the others patrick" "yeah but it's my first sock". that's all i can think of that's kinda like the writing of BBFB). Final thing i guess, if THQ shows a BBFB 2 of some sort, it could have a level called "spongebob's nightmare, it's shows spongebob deepest fears and thoughts of what he think his friends and boss might think of him in the farthest back of his mind, which also uses that infamous (i think) unused bubble buddy line but for patrick or squidward instead. The reason why the shelves inside the wall or barnacle boy in the mermalair computer are still in Rehydrated, as well as the leftover geometry data, is probably because Purple Lamp used a level editor tool for the original BfBB called "Industrial Park" to basically port over all the levels and areas from BfBB to Rehydrated, so they could then recreate them as faithfully as possible.
@@TetraBitGaming Perhaps they only removed the ones they actually knew about? Like maybe they simply remodeled those shelves without even knowing that they're not actually visible. As for barnacle boy in the computer, they may have done this cause it's a simple development trick, and/or maybe just as a funny little nod to the original game. Who knows.
They could have added the extra levels and bosses without changing the experience, when christian whitehead “remade” sonic 2, he added a new zone and nobody thought the experience was too different
ok so i guess a lot of people still don't know but rehydrated was made with a community made tool called industrial park. industrial park copied all the files and worlds and purple lamp built off of that. that's why barnicle boy is in the merm. computer, the 2 shelves outside spongebob's house, and the sock in the theater. If you guys have any other question's I can try to reply to all of yall. edit: pats dream and muscle bob fight were added because ALL of the files were used in bfbb rehydrated. so much so that the file for the flying tiki is named lovey (the og name for the flying tiki was lovey dovey for the original game). also fun tid bit there is a trigger to get out of the muscle bob fight at the door that was again imported from the original game.
I am annoyed. I almost bought this on launch day. I loved the game as a kid, and was really looking forward to seeing the lost levels. Though I’ll admit it’s a neat arena, it’s very much not what I had in mind.
Even without the old cut content, I still think it’s an enjoyable way to relive the original. I’d say give it a chance if you ever have a spare $30 sitting around

Though, I would, if they included at least a few new things (and maybe if they had stuck more closely to the original graphics, though this is may be a personal gripe). Meatbag One thing I am curious about is, what did they do with that fucking rolling ball room in the mermalair? In my experience that was the worst, most painful spatula in the game. If they re-worked that.... I’ll still won’t buy the game until it comes down a bit in price, but I will be way happier to get it.
I was also disappointed they didn’t add Patrick’s ice cream dream or the other phase of the SpongeBob robot fight into the main story. I was still satisfied with the game cause the original game is my favorite game ever. But it definitely would’ve been nice to add the other unused stuff into the new game. In all honesty I wouldn’t think adding Patrick’s ice cream dream and the muscle sponge bob robot fight would change the main story that much. Either way with Patrick’s dream you’ll get a golden spatula. And they already show robo muscle bob in the main story..might as well add the unused fight
They could've done with a bit more time, but they were on very good pace. They were just remaking the game, not making a game. That's why you'll be able to paint a Bob Ross painting in a couple of minutes by following a tutorial but take days to make one of your own design.
This gives a lot of insight into how they made rehydrated, it seems that they just used everything from the first game but some code got deleted and some shaders got deleted thus the grey brick looking texture, and that’s why the shelf behind the pineapple was ‘updated’ because the shader it was using before got updated I don’t think it was intentionally added they just reused the first map and changed specific things and left most of it the same as the first game just changed textures and models

I have a really cool idea for scrapped content, A special extras/secrets mode which unlocks stuff with milestones for example the option to refight bosses once defeated, Levels like glove world if you complete goo lagoon or Patrick’s dream if you reach 60 spatulas and complete spongebobs dream and all others,also you can get platinum spatulas and gold socks to give to Patrick, also ,extra characters for when turned on special busses will appear with the characters, A boss rush once all bosses have been defeated, and a mega boss rush with harder bosses for all spatulas, and the unused muscle bob phase, And when everything is completed you will unlock a special cheat menu with special debug commands. Possibly also an option to make it look like the original but tbh it would take too long for that, also I realised this is long and need to finish so I hope you enjoy. Edit:Maybe also a hard mode
From what I've heard the reason for Barnacle Boy being inside the computer in the original was actually due to a limitation in the game engine where they had to have an interactive model or something. Could be the same for this one as well since they probably reused most of the original engine and just ported/updated it.
there was someone working on a battle for bikini bottom remake with the same "rehydrated" name, so purple lamp stole "rehydrated" but the guy started developing another spongebob game called "bikini bottom tales"
So my idea on why some things have stuck around 1) barnacle boy is just the thing you're talking to in that area, so it makes sense someones there 2) i think because how the shelves look, maybe they are reimplimented to replace other shelves through the game? Like how the stars on a pokemon trainer card works, as achievements 3) the shiny object probably was originally intended to show up where mrs puff stands at a later point, but got forgotten

The reason most of the unused content returns is because they used a program to place all of the objects from the original game into Rehydated so they didn't need to replace everything. That also explains why the 6 maps are in the original game.
While I was more neutral on the Robo-Squidward fight, I really wanted to see the Patrick's Dream stage and MuscleBob fight return. Neither really would have messed up the flow of the game, either (Patrick's Dream was just a one note joke that could still be implemented with the unused stage, and MuscleBob could just be another boss phase)
Hey Tretabit! In this game I discovered a glitch that make you out of bounds! You need to be in the back of “The Reef”, jump out of bounds and fire a missile, and when the hand shows up, you keep pressing up! So then the hand will leave you out of bounds!
I think the best explanation for as to why some of the same hidden objects return from the original game is because they re-used the original game's code, meaning objects are in the same places that they were in the original. As to why some but not all, it's possible that changes were made to the code which broke links to other parts of the code, which resulted in some of the objects not loading. It seems pretty ridiculous that they would waste time manually placing the same out-of-bounds objects in the remake.
The Patrick Dream segment was going to be implemented, but they thought that the remake should be faithful to the original and that they shouldn't get to play God over what stays and goes
That checkerboard texture seen throughout the video is the Unreal Engine 4 default texture that gets applied to any meshes that haven't been given their own texture.
I feel like that at the base, all assets were probably imported into whatever level editor they have. Each of the assets were probably then gone through by each 3D artist, and then remodeled/textured. If they found something wasn't used they stopped modeling and texturing. The things that are missing were probably things they found they didn't need to model again. I believe all the things from the old game brought to the new one was probably really just a pipeline thing, and not super secret secrets, or anything.
Some people think they got the same files from the original, and put them into this game. So they didn’t have to remake Every. Single. Thing. Something like that, at least.
whats even worse is that they immediately started working on the cosmic shake, which is why we basicaly got no updates/new content I hope they get more time for this next one :/ also, as an explanation for the pat's dream & robosponge level, they imported the world geometry from the original into the game so that all of the level proportions would be correct, and they were originally much larger when they were imported, and the scaling/jump height/etc were all adjusted appropriately. I imagine the robosponge models were probably taken too.
Here's my 2 cents from working in Unreal Engine a bit. 2:10 That barrel looks like it has some material data to it. Odd. The shelves were almost definitely considered when they were redesigning the starting area but since they didn't use them they left it out of bounds. 2:58 That is 100% an easter egg. The original game had it as a workaround for the interaction due to the engine. The cube is likely the interaction target and the Barnacle Boy model must have just been put in as a joke. 3:25 The duplicate duplicatotrons were removed since they instead just made the duplicatotrons able to spawn larger groups (You can see this in game in multiple areas, not just where there used to be extra spawners) 9:30 That's probably a direct import of the original model. That would explain the scaling issues and missing textures. The onions seemingly being there as static meshes could be issues with the import method.
TetraBitGaming, I was just able to walk outside the boundaries of Downtown Bikini Bottom. Like, I could explore and go inside basically anywhere, except for the characters not being there and collisions not being on. It was funny, tbh. 😆🤣😂
5:48 Actually, I obtained that sock, completely by accident. See, I was standing behind the movie theater and using the cruise bubble, when Hands suddenly came on screen to grab sponebebob. I was jumping around as I was dragged off-camera, and when I respawned, I was INSIDE the movie theater, gazing out through the "invisible" walls. I didn't record it, and I don't know how to recreate that. But I swear that it happened.

That's exactly how these things are done. Mario Galaxy even hides billboards behind objects for the exact same reason. It's a big time saver

Ofcourse I was most excited for Patrick's dream world and Robo Squidward. I also thought they would've implemented an option in the menu where you could switch to the unused thunder and love tikis. Unfortunately nothing of that happened.
They should add the boss fights and Patrick's dream as a "hard mode" of sorts where it just adds them where they were originally intended, instead of leaving them as scraps in the multiplayer

@@helloilikemoney They were rushed, yes. But it was the Devs own decision to not add back old content, they wanted it to be faithful to the original and they didn't want to play God over what stayed and was removed, so they removed nothing, and added nothing.
@@Lanosrep They said they were going to add in scraped things from the original and bring back glitches, but they had 11 months to make this game. Plus, with covid, they really only had 8 months. My guess is they had code to follow for the rest of the game, but they didn't for the scrapped stuff so it would've taken too long to put that stuff in.

Because the multiplayer mode was announced and they started suggesting that they'd put stuff in there instead. Later when people visited the studio they talked about how there was a charm to things like the blank Patrick's dream and that they don't want to disrespect the original by adding in content that they weren't happy with. So it was left out, and more suitable cut content like robo squidward and more playable chcracaters. were added to multiplayer
It was this choose CE to be faithful that led to them not recasting voice actors like Me Krabs even though Clancy Brown is always available for SpongeBob related projects, they wanted to be faithful to the original, even in the parts where the original failed

Game Dev Here. That checkered texture is common as a default in many modeling/texturing programs. Its like those purple and black checkerboards you see sometimes on unused models. IIRC Unreal engine objects have that as the default as well. Likewise a lot of the textured duplicates are likely just leftovers from development that never got cleaned up, the unused textured objects are probably some poor sob that was just retexturing objects without knowing where they went and did some by accident. When you plot stuff down in unreal sometimes you'll dupe something and just hide it instead of deleting it.
6:44 At the top right, it says that it‘s a .uasset file, meaning that the remake was done in the Unreal Engine. What about the original game? Was it also made in an older version of Unreal?
Edit: It turns out that the old game was made with RenderWare, that was also utilized by GTAIII, Vice City and SA. Interesting.
The checker pattern on the barrel is just Unreal Engine 4's default/failsafe texture.

I would totally love for Patrick's dream to be added, it was the thing I was most excited for when they originally announced they were adding cut content. I'm still happy with the game but there is so much missed opportunities with regards to Easter eggs and cut content rather then simply packaging it all in the multiplayer.
I wish they would have added the unused stuff in as some sort of alternate campaign, like maybe an "Original" campaign that stays as true as possible to the original game and a " Rehydrated" campaign that includes the unused stuff and maybe some other small changes, maybe like something you would unlock after finishing the the Original campaign.
2:28 that might be an empty box used for loading screens & transitions. Similar looking boxes are present in lots of other games for that purpose at least and tend to use the checkered texture as well.
I think a neat idea for adding the 3 big scraps to the main game would be to have an update that adds a special “rehydrated” mode to act as a sort of new game +

I'm honestly disappointed the unused things mentioned such as Patrick's dream, Squidward's Robot battle, and the Anchor armed Spongebot Squarebolt went unused in this game. I'm really hoping there will be an update where these will be added in somehow. Seriously, before this game released, I wanted to see these playable in full not like as part of the Multiplayer mode they added.
Honestly I’m very happy with how they stayed true. I would have been very disappointed if they changed anything because this is a game I hold very dearly to me.
The other battle arena levels are loaded into the BattleArena_P level. All levels do this.

Maybe someday they could add an extra content section, for stuff like all the unused maps you can just immediately load into, and even just replay fighting bosses right then and there.
I do remember, in an interview with the devs before the game's release, that they claimed to bring back Patrick's Unused Dream. But I guess it proved to be too much...
In a later interview, the same devs said that they walked back on that decision as they wanted to be faithful to the original and thought it would be better to put any cut content into the multiplayer mode.

I’m guessing the lack of full fledge remade scraped content was bc the development team just wasn’t given the time and budget they wanted/needed.
They had a great budget all things considered, and they made good pace for most of the dev cycle. They CHOSE to not implement the content a month or 2 in as they wanted it to be faithful to the original final release
@@Lanosrep could've have added it in when you 100% it, since it wouldn't really intervene with the main story, it would just be an extra feature for completionists. Not too sure about the Speedobob musclepants phase tho. (Side note, i wished that the sock in the theater could've made special dialogue from patrick with it, it would go like "wow spongebob, you found my other other sock!" "it looks the same as the others patrick" "yeah but it's my first sock". that's all i can think of that's kinda like the writing of BBFB). Final thing i guess, if THQ shows a BBFB 2 of some sort, it could have a level called "spongebob's nightmare, it's shows spongebob deepest fears and thoughts of what he think his friends and boss might think of him in the farthest back of his mind, which also uses that infamous (i think) unused bubble buddy line but for patrick or squidward instead. The reason why the shelves inside the wall or barnacle boy in the mermalair computer are still in Rehydrated, as well as the leftover geometry data, is probably because Purple Lamp used a level editor tool for the original BfBB called "Industrial Park" to basically port over all the levels and areas from BfBB to Rehydrated, so they could then recreate them as faithfully as possible.

@@TetraBitGaming Perhaps they only removed the ones they actually knew about? Like maybe they simply remodeled those shelves without even knowing that they're not actually visible. As for barnacle boy in the computer, they may have done this cause it's a simple development trick, and/or maybe just as a funny little nod to the original game. Who knows.

Imagine making a remake with one of the purposes being to restore content that was cut due to time only that have that cut content cut due to time.
They could have added the extra levels and bosses without changing the experience, when christian whitehead “remade” sonic 2, he added a new zone and nobody thought the experience was too different

ok so i guess a lot of people still don't know but rehydrated was made with a community made tool called industrial park. industrial park copied all the files and worlds and purple lamp built off of that. that's why barnicle boy is in the merm. computer, the 2 shelves outside spongebob's house, and the sock in the theater. If you guys have any other question's I can try to reply to all of yall.
edit: pats dream and muscle bob fight were added because ALL of the files were used in bfbb rehydrated. so much so that the file for the flying tiki is named lovey (the og name for the flying tiki was lovey dovey for the original game). also fun tid bit there is a trigger to get out of the muscle bob fight at the door that was again imported from the original game.

I am annoyed. I almost bought this on launch day. I loved the game as a kid, and was really looking forward to seeing the lost levels. Though I’ll admit it’s a neat arena, it’s very much not what I had in mind.
Even without the old cut content, I still think it’s an enjoyable way to relive the original. I’d say give it a chance if you ever have a spare $30 sitting around
Meatbag I intend to pick it up when the price goes down, mostly because I shouldn’t spare the cash rn. Though, I would, if they included at least a few new things (and maybe if they had stuck more closely to the original graphics, though this is may be a personal gripe).
Also, I 100%’d the game about three years back. So new stuff was a bit more important to me (and the multiplayer looks awful to me)

I was also disappointed they didn’t add Patrick’s ice cream dream or the other phase of the SpongeBob robot fight into the main story. I was still satisfied with the game cause the original game is my favorite game ever. But it definitely would’ve been nice to add the other unused stuff into the new game. In all honesty I wouldn’t think adding Patrick’s ice cream dream and the muscle sponge bob robot fight would change the main story that much. Either way with Patrick’s dream you’ll get a golden spatula. And they already show robo muscle bob in the main story..might as well add the unused fight

You might not know this, but the strange asphalt colors used on the barrel and giant rectangular prism are called “Dev textures” for obvious reasons
Considering all glitches on release I imagine the game was rushed most likely later in development considering how good everything else is.
It was made in 11 months including quarantine
They could've done with a bit more time, but they were on very good pace. They were just remaking the game, not making a game. That's why you'll be able to paint a Bob Ross painting in a couple of minutes by following a tutorial but take days to make one of your own design.
This gives a lot of insight into how they made rehydrated, it seems that they just used everything from the first game but some code got deleted and some shaders got deleted thus the grey brick looking texture, and that’s why the shelf behind the pineapple was ‘updated’ because the shader it was using before got updated I don’t think it was intentionally added they just reused the first map and changed specific things and left most of it the same as the first game just changed textures and models
Still holding onto hope they add in the musical bob fight

the reason why those are left over is because they imported the og INTO unreal using a fanmade level editor
I have a really cool idea for scrapped content, A special extras/secrets mode which unlocks stuff with milestones for example the option to refight bosses once defeated, Levels like glove world if you complete goo lagoon or Patrick’s dream if you reach 60 spatulas and complete spongebobs dream and all others,also you can get platinum spatulas and gold socks to give to Patrick, also ,extra characters for when turned on special busses will appear with the characters, A boss rush once all bosses have been defeated, and a mega boss rush with harder bosses for all spatulas, and the unused muscle bob phase, And when everything is completed you will unlock a special cheat menu with special debug commands. Possibly also an option to make it look like the original but tbh it would take too long for that, also I realised this is long and need to finish so I hope you enjoy.

From what I've heard the reason for Barnacle Boy being inside the computer in the original was actually due to a limitation in the game engine where they had to have an interactive model or something. Could be the same for this one as well since they probably reused most of the original engine and just ported/updated it.
I feel like the community could have done a better job and include these now "lost bits"
there was someone working on a battle for bikini bottom remake with the same "rehydrated" name, so purple lamp stole "rehydrated" but the guy started developing another spongebob game called "bikini bottom tales"
So my idea on why some things have stuck around
1) barnacle boy is just the thing you're talking to in that area, so it makes sense someones there
2) i think because how the shelves look, maybe they are reimplimented to replace other shelves through the game? Like how the stars on a pokemon trainer card works, as achievements
3) the shiny object probably was originally intended to show up where mrs puff stands at a later point, but got forgotten

The reason most of the unused content returns is because they used a program to place all of the objects from the original game into Rehydated so they didn't need to replace everything. That also explains why the 6 maps are in the original game.
While I was more neutral on the Robo-Squidward fight, I really wanted to see the Patrick's Dream stage and MuscleBob fight return. Neither really would have messed up the flow of the game, either (Patrick's Dream was just a one note joke that could still be implemented with the unused stage, and MuscleBob could just be another boss phase)
I always enjoyed seeing Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom rehydrated gameplay it looks so good!
I feel like the unused content such as Patrick's Dream and the Robo Squidward fight could've been implemented in a new game plus mode
Hey Tretabit! In this game I discovered a glitch that make you out of bounds! You need to be in the back of “The Reef”, jump out of bounds and fire a missile, and when the hand shows up, you keep pressing up! So then the hand will leave you out of bounds!
I think the best explanation for as to why some of the same hidden objects return from the original game is because they re-used the original game's code, meaning objects are in the same places that they were in the original. As to why some but not all, it's possible that changes were made to the code which broke links to other parts of the code, which resulted in some of the objects not loading. It seems pretty ridiculous that they would waste time manually placing the same out-of-bounds objects in the remake.
The Patrick Dream segment was going to be implemented, but they thought that the remake should be faithful to the original and that they shouldn't get to play God over what stays and goes

That checkerboard texture seen throughout the video is the Unreal Engine 4 default texture that gets applied to any meshes that haven't been given their own texture.
The reason for the unseen stuff reappearing is probably because they worked with the original game's source files
I feel like that at the base, all assets were probably imported into whatever level editor they have. Each of the assets were probably then gone through by each 3D artist, and then remodeled/textured. If they found something wasn't used they stopped modeling and texturing. The things that are missing were probably things they found they didn't need to model again.
I believe all the things from the old game brought to the new one was probably really just a pipeline thing, and not super secret secrets, or anything.

Some people think they got the same files from the original, and put them into this game. So they didn’t have to remake Every. Single. Thing. Something like that, at least.
whats even worse is that they immediately started working on the cosmic shake, which is why we basicaly got no updates/new content

also, as an explanation for the pat's dream & robosponge level, they imported the world geometry from the original into the game so that all of the level proportions would be correct, and they were originally much larger when they were imported, and the scaling/jump height/etc were all adjusted appropriately. I imagine the robosponge models were probably taken too.
They should add a dlc with Patrick’s dream and the final phase, maybe even another squidward fight.
Here's my 2 cents from working in Unreal Engine a bit.
2:10 That barrel looks like it has some material data to it. Odd. The shelves were almost definitely considered when they were redesigning the starting area but since they didn't use them they left it out of bounds.
2:58 That is 100% an easter egg. The original game had it as a workaround for the interaction due to the engine. The cube is likely the interaction target and the Barnacle Boy model must have just been put in as a joke.
3:25 The duplicate duplicatotrons were removed since they instead just made the duplicatotrons able to spawn larger groups (You can see this in game in multiple areas, not just where there used to be extra spawners)
9:30 That's probably a direct import of the original model. That would explain the scaling issues and missing textures. The onions seemingly being there as static meshes could be issues with the import method.

TetraBitGaming, I was just able to walk outside the boundaries of Downtown Bikini Bottom. Like, I could explore and go inside basically anywhere, except for the characters not being there and collisions not being on. It was funny, tbh. 😆🤣😂
5:48 Actually, I obtained that sock, completely by accident. See, I was standing behind the movie theater and using the cruise bubble, when Hands suddenly came on screen to grab sponebebob. I was jumping around as I was dragged off-camera, and when I respawned, I was INSIDE the movie theater, gazing out through the "invisible" walls.
I didn't record it, and I don't know how to recreate that. But I swear that it happened.
