My cane corso is 2 1/2 years old. She is everything you describe. Owning a corso is unlike any other dog I have owned. Her bond is so intense and her ability to assess her surroundings is incredible. Love the videos! Thank you so much!
Absolutely agree, you definitely feel that extreme bond every day. You are their person, and they are you companion 24/7 and they will be happy to do whatever you need and ask for
My first interaction with a Corso was watching a Corso walk with an elderly gentleman who used two crutches walk his dog. The dog knew his owner was infirmed, and how to walk with him. The dog is incredibly in tune with his owner, and didn’t pull or misbehave with his owner. The owner only had to tell her what to do, she did. I became an instant fan.
I have no children. The first time Lucy interacted with a child I was terrified. I hovered over her, prepared to pull her away. She is not only gentle with children, she is protective. If a group of dogs are playing wildly nearby, she puts her body between them and the children to make sure the kids aren't hurt. She will correct dogs being too wild with kids and has the most insane level of patience with kids' behavior. If I have a toy she wants and tease her with it, she will try to take it from me. I have watched an 8 year old swing a toy around his head and thought for sure she was going to jump on him for the toy. She stayed calm for over 5 minutes, clearly recognizing she shouldn't jump on him. Truly the most amazing dog I've ever owned.
They’re AMAZING at reading the body language of people around you as well. When my corso was only 4 months old, we took him into town. He let families and others pet him, but when we were standing in a parking lot, a homeless guy started approaching me. He started barking like crazy and the guy turned around and walked off. He knew something was up with the guy lol. I’ve never felt more protected than I do with this breed
I just rescued my first Cane Corso. I can’t explain just how much I love my Cane Corso Lucy. I am not an inexperienced owner, I have owned Rottweilers and an English Mastiff. I want to thank you for all the info you give us, you have helped out so much with my training. Lucy has come a long way. Being a rescue dog you don’t know what your going to get. However being a Cane Corso you know how intelligent they are. With a lot love and socialization she is an amazing companion. Thank You
I love your videos. I wanted to share a problem that came up with one of my Corso's. I ended up in the hospital for several days. I asked my daughter and son in-law to stop at my house to feed, water and let my dogs outside for awhile every day. My Cane Corso's know my daughter and family but refused to let them into the house. My daughter said it was scary as if they were different dogs. I'm amazed that the Corso knows when a situation is not normal. I socialized my dogs, they are loving and friendly when I am with them. I just wanted to bring this problem up and see if others have experienced this with their Corso's. It really floored me because my daughter and family are not strangers yet were greeted with hackles up in attack mode.
I'm on my second and there's honestly nothing quite like them. My mom actually told me if I didn't get another Cane after my first passed at 13 she was so we'd have one in the family.
I'm Brent a lost in Oz KIWI!! I discovered Cane Corso 11 years ago, a small A4 sale add beside a till in a butcher shop in Townsville Nth Qld.. 2500 a pup!! Who pays that for a dog? The 16 year old cashier explained I have and why 2500 was cheap!! I left the store 1500 poorer to pick up the last pup in the litter, A chocolate brindle boy... I named Kane. I am so proud to call him my friend. He is everything you explained in perfect detail, This breed has been the single most enlightening, fun and loyal love of my life. Oh yeah....Australia was a convict colony... Those convicts had babies and so on... Now that convict DNA is in Australian society everywhere... If you have a Corso in Australia be very careful to read local dog by laws, They are different state to state and can change overnight without warning. I experienced the worst of Redneck Australia and biased against my Corsos... Kane's ladies I had for him were 3 years old b4 I bred... Their second liter died inside them when they were killed by local council ranger... That had harrased fined and bullied for 2 years b4 they got them. I now have 4 Corso KEAS pups and Kane ❤️ R.I.P MIA AND KEA I will never forget you girls.. Brent Kane, Belac, Wookie, Wombat and QT√
My girl is 16 months old. You are so spot on. She is so amazing and I did use your training videos with her, along with Jason, upstate canine, and a few others. I have 8 grandkids...she is amazing with them!! Sometimes a little too wiggly butt, but it's her love wiggling out!! Lol We travel alot and socialize her regularly. She protects the RV, and she will watch for me to say who is and isn't ok. I cant say enough how amazing they are.
I love your videos and just got your Cane Corso training bundle - in preparation for when my husband and I are ready to buy one. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and experience! You actually make me excited for the training aspect [almost] as much as bringing a Cane Corso into our home!
My girl is 15 months and still socializing always. She does great with people while we are out and about at social places. When at home her guarding is outstanding alerting to people or anything around our property. Walking the other evening and this guy comes out of the bushes and she let him know she meant business. She literally stood in front of me blocking him from coming forward. I told him to stay while I crossed the street and she continued to watch every movement he made with her under growling even after we crossed the street. We continued to walk and she would turn and look backwards to make sure he was gone. She is on point but I always have her under controlled. My second girl and will never own another breed they are so smart and always aware of the surroundings and alway alert.
@@jamzy2126 It depends on where you live if you are a renter. In the States, Corsos are a restricted breed for many apartments. The only way around it is if you are renting a condo with a very open-minded landlord.
My Cane Corso, a now 5 month old puppy. we've had him for around 3 weeks after rehoming him. Very friendly and sociable guy, fine with other dogs extremely obedient and attentive, much more so than my American Akita (they get along very well). Basically, a little gentleman and I love the guy to bits, having quickly built a very strong bond with our family. he gets plenty of exercise and long walks. Im an experienced owner of GSD, Doberman, and American Akita. one issue I have that I have not experienced with my other dogs. He randomly but very rarely has growled at me from a distance quite aggressively from across a room, does not seem playful or communicative like I've had in the past, and not snarling teeth showing, just a deep growling and a nasal pre bark exhale (most will know what i mean) but no bark. But he looks directly at me and does it. He's also done this to my wife, I cannot understand why he does this. He is otherwise completely submissive and affectionate to everyone, no resource guarding or aggression otherwise whatsoever. I'm just now concerned by this, we have two young children in the house. If these are early warning signs or otherwise common behaviour for this breed, I need to know, but still highly doubt it this would be a breed commonality. any experienced owners feedback very welcome.
As a proud owner of 4 Corsos i agree 100 percent with you on all that you said. Amazing breed and easier to train than our shepherds as they seem to be less hot headed they are happy to just listen to you and stick to you like glue 😅 even in new places they don' t go wandering around just do long distance smelling from next to us.
We're currently looking for a cane corso female and already have a male Rottweiler. I'm so curious towards them! (Since I've never owned one). I love sensitive and powerful animals, and my dreams and intuition are steering me towards this breed. Our Rottie still has his tail, but I must say he's always been so careful towards our stuff and aware of where his body is! Even when he was a pup. My boyfriend definitely has knocked over more glasses from the coffee table than the dog😂 We've never punished him for knocking things over, he's naturally this way. When a ball accidentally lands near his food or water bowl he even tries to push it away with his tongue instead of his mouth, because he thinks he's more careful that way🤣
great video, as always. Particularly the 12-month-border regarding the protection skills (strangers) is absolutely perfect timmed ;) thats right, it was the same here ;)

Well I know, each individual dog behaves differently and all dogs require the appropriate training and dedication. However, will it be fair to say that having two male cane corsos may require slightly more supervision/training than the experience I had with my bullmastiffs?
Hi Will, I just tried to find an email to ask a few questions, however I could not find an email to ask! haha. Love your videos and the way you are with all the dogs. We have a decent yard and property for our area. We have a large garden with room to run. We recently have 2 9 week old male cane corso puppies from the same litter. We are aware of possible littermate issues. We plan to be able to counter it at our best ability by making sure one is cared for by myself and the other by the rest of the family (my wife and 4 kids) Im not aware of any extra issues this may cause. Also, any other comments would be greatly appreciated.
I own a almost 3 year old male his tail is not cut and his ears are still normal it was illegal to have them done but when he got his shots I asked about it and learned that it wasn’t allowed and that was a positive thing for me anyway.. Yes, Cane's know how big they are and know they can knock things over. One of the few breeds that are aware of their size.
My cane corso is definitely not aware of how big he is but he only just turned a year old.
