I recently retired and bought a CC puppy as a companion. I spend 24-7 with him. Although he's quite young he's Highly intelligent, extremely athletic, fast, vocal and can be very loving. You MUST remain calm and set boundaries immediately with this breed. You must lead them. Always.
Amen to that! I have 5 of these beauties. I am a retired breeder registered with the ANKC of Australia. I have used all my dogs as both conformation show dogs and IGP sport. Weekends used to consist of conformation showing and IGP training (as a member of an IGP club and attending workshops with international trainers). I am still working on building the skills required to compete in IGP with my dogs, as I did enter this sport with them at a late age. I may have to reconsider reopening my breeding doors, as my 5 are getting up there in age. All 5 have demonstrated the characteristics to understand and move between the conformation show ring and the high ignition intensity of IGP. This is a breed of dog that lives up to their historical bloodline. It also shows that with consistent environmental and socialisation training, these dogs can and will give you more than you give them.
My boy is nearly 8 months, what a brilliant dog such a perfect guard dog, loves everyone but if he sees a stranger around the house look out! He knows when the children are coming out of school he goes by the wall and waits for them to pat him as they go past😊 he's such a clever dog sooo loving to me and my partner, only thing is he doesn't like us going out of his site, he really is my best friend, love him to bits x🏴
My bitch was highly socialized as a young puppy with humans until her jabs were clear. She went to daycare to learn how to mix with other dogs. She is scatty as the day is long but wouldn't change her for the world. The 'off' switch was trained into her right away. She is exactly how you describe her breed!
Very true. Mine definitely sleeps w one eye opened, she hears things we at home don’t hear, like the gate opening when the Amazon guy comes around or any delivery person, sometimes we don’t hear it but she’s able to isolate all sounds except what she thinks it’s a threat.
I got my CC when she was 9 weeks and she was born in June and is almost 7 months but is absolutely the greatest breed I’ve owned or have seen..I Love my Fur Baby.!!❤❤❤❤
Hello , i just have a mix of Caucasian Sephred. I looking on ur's videos a long time and i extremly loves a Cane Corso and want to get it to my next dog, i going to do alot reserch about CC and i finally find You! Thanks for ur Work. I have alot of work to do become a new owner a CC. Greeting from Poland sorry for bad english
This last one is 100% true. It's so easy to teach Corso to relax at home that it's just impossible. With my puppy it's now like i have two different dogs. Inside - he is sleeping most of the time and he wakes up to change place to nap and for food. Outside he is just absolute dynamite.
Aww so that's possibly why my Corso loves to sit on my feet when he comes to me. He always comes checks me love then turns outward watching everything going on while sitting on my foot. I thought it was possibly a dominant thing bc he's only 13 weeks and testing still. But it never comes across like that. So this makes more sense. He just wants to be as close to me as possible I guess. 😊
Does anyone know how you tell how the jowl will develop when choosing a puppy? Keen to pay attention to the traits that will ensure he has jowls that slightly hang over the sides vs the more open mouth look.
I live in a Caribbean country with quarter acre of fenced in property, do you recommend a Cane Corso for us to keep as an outside dog. All of our dogs are primarily outside dogs, meaning they don't sleep indoors (they have their beds etc. Located in our porch and adjacent open air garage area and are allowed indoors during the day time) ? Since our girls are all up there in age now we are looking for options to assist with protection of us and our property. Any advice on a breed that is suitable will be much appreciated.
I would not have them as only outdoor dogs. They are too attached to family and owner to be left outside all the time. Look for outdoor or livestock protection breeds that enjoy being left outside. like the great Pyrenees is a great example
I'm adopting an 8 months cane corso cross penna. Any advise would be appreciated. Is it going to be difficult to gain his trust after him being given away and him coming to live in new surroundings.
I've had three total. A male that I got as a puppy and two rescue females that were one and two. A few things Will left out that you might want to be aware of include: 1) Get used to slobber (I've seen it as high as on the ceiling) 2) If you have more than one, they like to "talk" to one another when playing and it can get really loud. 3) Get used to having a 100-150 pound lap dog. My male is particularly bad at this. One word of caution....if you do adopt one (and good for you for doing so), you should be an experienced owner and please socialize them well. These are awesome dogs but are serious beasties. The first time you hear them crunching through (not just chewing on, going through) a monster raw serrano bone you'll understand what I mean.
My cc is afraid of even her own shadow I don’t know why she turned out the way she did but she’s three, very large she likes to go for car rides, but she doesn’t like to be around people, and then yes I try to socialize her I still try.
I inherited a 125 pound four year old CC after my son passed away. “Romeo” knows me, but it is quite another thing to be his handler. I have a chihuahua who thinks he is the boss😆. It has only been a month since I have had him…I was quite overwhelmed to say the least. I have had to deal with the sudden death of my son at 45, and taking in his best friend. I am watching all of Will’s videos and doing the best I can…so far we are doing ok😊
I love dogs...all dogs. Unfortunately ,some people do not do the work to train them properly or give them the exercise they need. A cane corso attacked me while I was walking on the street in front of its house. I do not blame the dog. Its owner was not responsible in keeping it in the yard and in not giving it the needed stimulation. Thankfully, I got away with a bruise on my leg and puncture wounds on my arm. Its because of owners like him that give the poor dogs a bad rap.
Trying to convince my husband to get a cane Corso.. we have a bullmastiff and I love her to death.. but she is a bit too lazy for me. I am interested in a variety of canine sports and I can't with her. We are considering a Doberman but I just love mastiffs so much. I just wish my hubby would be on board 😩
@@SimplicityForGood technically it’s in the mastiff family (but that’s arbitrary). The working mastiffs in general are less “baggy” - your corsi, presas, dogos, etc.
@@lp9476 I see.. between the Boer boel Dogo, Corso which do you think have the best health and live the longest if all three are from good working lines? and which do you think is going to get into least domination fights over the years when meeting other dogs? or do you think is not breed based but indiciual based how that will develop in each dog no matter the breed of these threee?
@@SimplicityForGood they’re all extremely intense dogs, but my experience says the corso will be the best, socially, with other dogs - and the dogo will likely be the healthiest. It’s all individual and there are no guarantees, of course, though, as you say!

Will.. did you really just put down conformation? literally the sport that breeds for better structure and health... you've either goa misconception.. or don't know anything of the sport... you definetly shouldnt be feeding into a misconception especially with your large platform.

Best dog I have ever owned, she is 18 months old and we have trained and socialized since 8 weeks.
I adopted a dog who ended up being 50% CC 50% Rottweiler. I've never felt more safe in my life. His circle is small but def loyal to us.
I got that exact mix !
@@felipefelix8027 such good dogs. We are lucky to have them. Lucky to have any dog but you know.

I’d say realistically the dogo.
