  • I often get asked how much my Cane Corso costs. But the question that should be asked is how much does it costs to own a Cane Corso. I go over all the expenses broken down per month so you know how much it will cost to own a Cane Corso.

One cost I did not go over was the cost of destruction of your home and belongings. An untrained dog left without knowing his place in the pack can have destructive tendencies. I highly recommend checking out these training programs www.fenrirdogtraining.com/?affcode=381736_08bmp5qc

I came across this gentleman's YT profile from doing research as my prep to own a cat. I'm planning to get a British Shorthair however a lot of animal psychology can be cross referenced. I follow Rachel at Senza Tempo Cane Corso and am subscribed to her and this helpful and informative gentleman came up in the recommendations. It's all relevant and all good. Something to be learned even when the talk is about a different species. I appreciate all the knowledge they have to share. I'm glad that I have learned so much about this breed of dog. I can't own one but when I see them I appreciate and respect the owners for good ownership and if I could own a dog this would be my preferred breed.

I don’t have my cane corso puppy yet but so far this is a breakdown of what I’ve spent thus far:
    Puppy: $2500
    Puppy Supplies: $250-$300
    Insurance (Nationwide): $65 Per month
    Obedience training: $420
Food is tbd - we will be putting her on the BARF diet, we’ve already located a farmers market to purchase the meat from.
Luckily my house already had a 6ft high fence all around, I also have approximately an acre of land.
Overall, not too bad. But prospect owners need to be prepared to handle the monthly costs associated with dog ownership.
I’m very excited to get my puppy btw ☺️

I’m glad Jason did this video. Taking care of a giant breed dog the right way is very expensive. I now have a Cane Corso but my prior dog was an English Mastiff (230lbs). The costs escalate substantially when they get older. My mastiff was $6,000+ for vet, food and medicine alone his last three years. That’s if nothing goes wrong. Four days in the hospital with pneumonia was $6,000. Two days with bloat was $4,000. Vet bills are 4-5X higher by comparison to a 40-60lb dog. You must have a car big enough to accommodate your dog. An giant breed is not going to fit in a Camry. If you have the means, Mastiff breeds are definitely worth it. They are the most loyal, best friends you will ever have. My English Mastiff lived 9 years - about 2 years longer than the average life expectancy for the breed. But please, if you can’t or won’t spend the money to give these dogs the life other dogs can have for 25% of the cost, it’s best to choose another breed.

I live near the sea in NZ, took her in and she is in heaven. She learned to be so sweet to me and our other digs and cats, and is the kissingest dog I ever had. I spend more on my Corso's a month than I do on myself. My children are grown my dogs are family. I also take my dog's to daycare for socializing. They love to go. I live on 40 acres in the Idaho rocky mountains but had to put up a fence for my dogs safety. Porcupines, Skunks and other wildlife are dangerous. I learned the hard way when my Nero took off after a Moose.

I appreciate this video even though I 🤮 at the thought of all that money lol. When my husband put it on I instantly told him I didn’t want to watch it because I’m the person that doesn’t think or even wanna discuss the cost. He’s the opposite BUT I’m happy to say that even after hearing what you guys spent it didn’t deter the fact that we do want a Corso❤️Lucky enough our home is already fenced in so that saves a lot. Currently we are planning on adding one of these guys to our home but most likely aiming for maybe winter time when his job slows down and he’s home more just so he can be more involved. It gives us time to prepare and just really get us ready. Unfortunately many many years ago when I first was out on my own and “adulting” I had the idea that I wanted a Saint Bernard and without even giving it a second thought I got one.He grew up without any kind of training. He did understand the common commands but that just wasnt enough.I babied him and he definitely walked all over me.He listened but it was only when he felt like it :/ It was 💯 my fault.Eventually he became aggressive even towards me.I would be laying on the couch and he’d come up and get in my face and bark and it was the kind of bark that was intimidating.Things just got worse from that point and he did end up biting someone in the face.Thankfully it wasn’t a bad bite and didn’t require more than a washing and bandaid.By this time I knew I messed up and should have taught him.It was to the point even I was afraid of him and you can’t be afraid if you want to have a happy healthy obedient dog.I knew I didn’t want to put him down,I knew it was my fault that he was the way he was and I reached out to a few people and I finally came across this woman who also had Saints. She didn’t even give it a second thought and offered to take him and I knew it was for his best interest and even though it was sad and it made me sad AF I did it for him so he could have a great life.I did not want something else to happen that would end up with him having to be put down.I was legit the definition of a poor pet owner.I was young and dumb and didn’t think about all what a animal needs to thrive. Now here I am older and wiser kicking myself in the ass because it could have been so different if I had just taken the time.Love your videos and I absolutely adore Bruce❤️It’s heart warming to see the way he is with you and your wifey.

Things to keep in mind: Any dog med-large sized or bigger.
You find out it needs a hip operation for a genetic defect, or it blows out a knee (CCL,) often exacerbated by weight
$3000-$4000 per hip or knee, AND there's no guarantee it will be OK afterward.
Overnight emergency stomach issue (just monitoring no surgery, was just like E-coli) for one of my dogs was $1000 over 10 years ago.

What a magnificent, beautiful dog! I've started poking around and contemplating finding a buddy for my 6yo Olde English Sheepdog who isn't small/medium by any stretch and is incredibly athletic and showing no signs of slowing down. I agree with you on everything you said, and hope anyone considering a Cane' Corso will take all of that to heart if they decide on this breed. One thing so many, including other dog owners, don't take into consideration is the diet they need. And it is expensive, a small fortune, actually. Mine eats better than me often, lol. Thanks for sharing, Bruce Wayne (lol).... you rock buddy!!

Good and candid analysis. I spend much less on feeding with kibble, though (roughly $60 a month, including cheese treats). The training cost is spot on, but maybe add puppy training. In my case, I purchased a truck to carry my dog in the back and a $650 cover to protect him from the weather while in the back.

I concur with the initial costs here as they fall in line with what I had to spend when I brought my Alaskan Malamute into the family over 20 years ago. We currently have four lovable mutts, but I'm thinking a Cane Corso may be the next pure breed we bring into the family. Be blessed.

Thanks for exposing the true Italian pronunciation. I’ve met many Cane Corso owners who pronounce it “Cain” Corso. It’s awkward when you tell an owner they don’t even know how to pronounce the dogs breed name. They usually shouldn’t own one and where typically bought from a backyard breeder for 600$...

Brother, I had a friend that had one growing up. Now with hat said I have had my blue nose pit for about 12 years. He's coming to the point we regret, but with medical issues I was advised to put him to sleep. I had began looking into another blue nose potty, but the Cane Corso has always been on my list that or the dogo, you have led me to make the choice into the Cane Corso. We have contacted a local trainer that is willing to train, as he does the local police dog training. But I wanna say thank you because of your videos, it convinced my fiance that this is the best choice for us. She had been worried because she was told by coworkers and family they are a very aggressive breed and shouldn't be allowed around our children. You truly are great with this breed thanks again.
