I've had a female Golden now for 3 years and I feel ready for a second dog. I am thinking between a Rottweiler and a Cane Corso. That confirmed my opinion of herder (surely the rooster preferred to be left alone 😅) The Cane Corso is more stubborn of nature, but as she (they) are very intelligent they can learn fast. I think on the island the Rottweiler is overbreeded and the combined breed will come forward with a stronger breed as both are of gentle nature but still good watch dogs. It will make a perfect sub breed. Rotti-Corso (recognised breed). What is your opinion?
I have always had big dogs. From pit bulls to a mastiff pit mix. And a Staffordshire terrier. I got my first Cane Corso and he is absolutely amazing and he's three months old
I love both breeds. Both big and powerful dogs. Cane Corso’s are beautiful, but in my opinion nothing tops the pure beauty and power of a Rottweiler. 💪🏼❤️
@@descendancedenoefilsdadam1028 This is typical comment coming from someone with a lack of knowledge. The original German (European) Rottweiler is massive and powerful (not a dog you wanna mess with), with a big broad head and powerful jaws. Same can be said about a Cane Corso . Some Cane Corso's are stronger than Some Rottweilers, and vice verse. A Rottweiler is easier to train. A Cane Corso is more stubborn. 90% dog owners considering these two breeds, should choose a Rottweiler, because most people can't handle the strong personality of a Corso. Their character also reflects that. Cane Corso has a VERY STRONG character. And that is what makes it one of the best natural guard dogs. And it is fast, so good for hunting, if you get the old original (lean) type. It's prey drive is high, as Will explains here. I love both breeds. (and has owned a Corso) But I would not choose any of them as my next dog. Too many health issues with these breeds. And they are Working breeds! For a job as just loyal family guardian companion, I personally would choose a Dogue de Bordeux or an English Mastiff. They are just more "lovable" and calm in general (not as effective as "working dogs")
@@Wushu-viking I'm based in France a country that have a well known knowledge about European breeds, I also had numerous including an European Corso long lean type that I rescued because his owners altough young were unable to manage his energy as a Martial artist competing in combat sports and fencing I have the opportunities to analyse many fights the Rottweiler is an impressiv dog but not a catch hunting dog like the Corso lean version or the dogo in 3 minutes these dogs will submit and be killed by both of these breed there are not catch dogs at all. They are butcher dogs like the Dogue de Bordeaux which I have a personnal preference against the Rottweiler. The Rottweiler is a vicious dog dominant breed but he will surely found his master with a Corso. And the Corso bond very strong with an Alpha or Sigma owner this is just not the kind of dog that you unleash in the street to its prey drive. Mine is classified as Corso Pitmix by the American despite being a Corso, mine is high , superlong body and neck and lean muscle and still weight a lot with also a lon muzzle for a Corso.
Cane Corso cannot be compared to a Rottweiler the dog that tries dominate it’s owners. Cane Corso is way more trustworthy and more powerful dog. Beats Rottweiler in any field
You hit the nail on the head with Rott’s !!! Great video! Bruce is so handsome indeed! I love Cane Corsos . They are so affectionate and elegant . But I prefer Rottweilers . They seem easier to train and socialize . Cane Corsos seem to be higher maintenance .
I have a friend that wants to re-home her Boerboel and Cane Corso mix. I just met her yesterday, and she seems to have a good temperament, but she is one and has only received a little training. How risky is it. Can I still forge a strong bond with her?

I find our rottweiler a bit submissive to the cane and wonder how to increase his confidence.
Thanks man! I always wanted Rottie but now I have the chance to get CC puppy, the problem is that I have 3 bunnies in the house and I would like to know if there is a chance to bond them all together.
I've got cats and a deaf border collie. I'm wanting to get a pup that will grow up to guard me and my country home. I'm in my 60's and in good health. I'm curious what you recommend. In the past I've German Shepard, collie, husky, great dane and dalmatian. I'd appreciate any advice.
Hello, I'm a new subscriber to your channel. Really enjoying the several videos I've seen. A great amount of good detailed information. And love the new lead dog collar you've come up with. Thank you and blessings.
The Rottweiler is my favorite dog breed. Although I respect and acknowledge the Cane Corso's abilities. I'm not a fan of mastiff looking dogs like the English and Bull mastiff breeds. So it's mainly for me a superficial thing. My neighbor has a very majestic black Cane Corso and he's a big boy and surprisingly very gentle and doesn't really want any of my Rottweiler, Boxer, Amstaff mix. My dog is extremely powerful yet at just 24" at the shoulders and 85lbs. 😅 He has a Rottweilers head on a Boxers body, so he's extremely athletic and has a strong bite hold. Most Rottweilers are big babies when they are with their families and are very gentle with children. Both breeds are very loyal, lovable and intelligent. You can't go wrong with either breed if well socialized and properly trained in a loving and confident leading household. These strong breeds demand solid leadership and won't accept anything less or they will take over that position quickly.
Randomly came across this video, and enjoyed it, you are very enjoyable to listen too.. Ty, I how ever could never be an owner of either dog. I'm scared of my brothers two Bull Terriers... It's a Chihuahua well it was R.I.P baby boy. Cats damn it, now I have cats..
@@bigbadrash782 there weren't a lot of Neos or CCs after WWII- it was difficult to get food for humans and even harder to feed large dogs. All over Europe many large breeds almost went extinct. After the war finding 2 CCs was difficult because of this but the similarly sized Rottweiler was slightly more available. To help the breed survive Rottweilers were added to the mix. You can see this in some current lines they look more like Rottweilers colored like CCs while other lines look distinctly more CC. Either way nowadays they are pure CC
I have a Italian Mastiff Corso most strongest dog I ever owned in my life. I love the dog weighs in at 1:40 alert smart and loving dog intimidation without a doubt. Happy trails
I've had rotts and am considering a corso. This video was very helpful, tipped the scales further into the positive for me. Just waiting for our "little change of scenery" to provide a nice amount of space.
I have had a German Rockweiler and currently have a couple of cane Corso‘s. I could see it from what I recall. I have established a better connection with a cane Corso as far as temperament I can’t really believe a German Rottweiler is a bit more aggressive cancer survivor and I think they both work really well with kids. I hope that helps.
@@azimwilliams2303 it does! Thanks. We had American rotts. They were beautiful and had great temperaments, super smart. I'm glad to hear from people who have experienced both breeds.

Your video's are brilliant, very interesting and educational , always loved and wanted a rottweiler, but I'm running out of year's now. For now I'll stick with my mix , German shepherd/ lab and best friend, who thinks he's a lion .
I am trying to decide between a rottie and a cane corso. I've had experience training dogs and have done excellent with sit, stay, heel, down, and perimeter training my dog. I also grew up around rotties, but haven't had to train a guarding breed myself. My parents got one when I was little and then we kept one of her puppies so there was always at least one rottie in my home til I was 16, and they were very well behaved. My current dog is a mix, so I'd love your thoughts on what you'd lean to (or others in comments). Other significant note (based on my study from your vids) is I can easily meet the exercise requirement and intend to take the dog with me everywhere basically, and I do have 2 kids around 10.
Sadly we're unable to give specific advice on which breed is best for individuals as there are so many personal factors. But we hope the content we've put up on each of the breeds you're looking into plus the videos we have on generally choosing the right breed for you helps with making an educated decision!
Really good video I had 2 Rotts in the past and loved them and now have a Cane Corso and I really love hem and will be the only breed I will have the rest of my life both are great dogs
I have always liked both these breeds and even own a Corso and a Rotti/bull mastiff now. The characteristics mentioned are pretty spot on. Thank you for another great video. PS your beard is looking good lol
I have bred and raised dobies in the 80 /90’s my first rott I gained free from another breeder as a friend as they were moving and couldn’t take her . She was 10 weeks old . I kept her till she was 9 yrs old breeding dobies. She last away then. Now it’s been 30 yrs since I had a dog! I have a German rott 4K dog from the #1 kennel in Germany. And I would not count out the breed! She’s loyal and loves my grandchildren but she shows her aggression when needed! If you want a rott you better prepare to be able to hold bk a 100 lbs dog cause with curso’s and rotts? They are strong ! When they want to go! Now my rott runs free and she has killed raccoons, possums, birds, squirrels. On her own ! They are very protective! And when they “go” you better be ready to hold them bk! Cause they will drag you! Btw the rott will kill a pit bull! 1500 psi on there jaw continuing biting you! Unlike pitts that bite and lock
U posted some false information,so lemme just say that Rotts do not have 1500 psi,..more like 400 and something ,Cane corsos have like 700 and something.
IMHO: Nope. Both of these breeds will take the pain if they feel that their 'services' are needed on the other side of the invisible fence line. Once they go into fight- mode, pain is no longer perceived as a deterrent, but as another good reason to take action. Especially the Cane Corso has a very high hardness.
With the assumption that proper socialization and obedience classes are in the picture, which of these two breeds is better with small dogs and children?
I've had rotties for yrs, amd just recently had to put down my 7yr old blue nose Pitt due to internal heath issues. As a family we ate still in morning over our beloved "blue" but my kids are already looking into getting a new puppy and were split between both cane and rott. Our problem is that we have a 2 story home w lots of stairs and I know we would have to carry th2 cane up and down stairs for 18 months and after about 4-6 months that's gonna be a problem. Do you have any recommendations??? I want a rottie and my kids love the cane corso.

Actually Molossians are also a type of dog that's considered the "grand dad" of a lot of the bully or mastiff-type breeds. Both Carne Corso and Rottweiler are part of the FCI group 2.1 of molossoids...like Boxer, Mastiff-like breeds like Mastino Napolitano, Dogo Canario... except bullterrier breeds, because of the terrier in them they belong to the terrier group 3 (i think 3.3?). the part of the roman cattle/war dogs is a nice story (some also say it was Hannibal and his troops that brought them to Southern Germany when he went to besiege Rome ), However I am not sure if there is actual historical evidence for it. I would be careful to present it as facts instead of a possible origin story. due to there being similar type broad-headed working dogs, maybe with different coat structure depending on the weather, in a lot of other regions in Europe. I think it's very likely that there wasn't a singular event that brought this type of dogs to different regions of the continents where it was useful for property and life stock guarding. Since there had always been cultural exchange and trading even over big distances in Europe, North Africa and Asia Minor I think the chance is rather high that trading (for example at big regional cattle markets) played a role in spreading this type of dog over the continent where it was then bred to fit the different working and weather conditions. A lot of the medium to big dogs in Europe faced near-extinction during the world wars not only due to being used in the war but also due to hunger. Now of course some people ate the dogs, but also some of the people just weren't able to feed their families and repair their houses from bomb damage let alone feed such a massive dog even more so if you're short of men and boys, due to them being dead, POW and/or too mentally/physically traumatised to work. they probably ended up either being killed or just starving after no one was there to care for them anymore. this was of course not great for the breeding base in those countries. Some breeds have been rebred after the war with only a handful of animals. that's of course not good for heritable diseases like some heart conditions, stuff like hip dysplasia or cancer.
I have both and couldn’t imagine living without either. The Rottie is a boy, Corso is a girl. She’s a lot stronger than the Rottie. They are both cuddly and lovable.

Corso can be used as working dogs in Police and army. And can be awesome at it. But they mostly use Rottweilers, because there are more breeders/dogs around. Both very good working dogs. Rottweilers might be better in some tasks due to their herding instinct, and easily trainabilily. I guess that also might be why they use them (same reason many use German Shepherds. Even though these 2 breeds here, are stronger and more fearless, the Shepherds are more agile because of less mass/muscle. Another problem with a Corso used to catch criminals... you want the dog to hold on to people, not to crush them. Another reason they use Sheperds mostly. Mastiff dogs could be too powerful for catch and hold tasks. They have high aggresion when it comes to being protective. If it sees the criminal as a threat to the pack.. well, sucks to that criminal. But as protection dogs.. Pure excellence. If somebody were to attack my wife or daugther, fine by me if the dog kills that person (then I wont have to).
Si può nutrire il cane corso quasi esclusivamente con crocchette di qualità? In tal caso quanto è la spesa da sostenere per un Cane corso adulto , solo per l'alimentazione? Is it possible to feed the Corsican dog almost exclusively with quality croquettes? In this case, how much is the expense to be incurred for an adult Cane Corso, just for food?
Native to Greece? Are you mad? It is now known that the Corso dog descends from the ancient Roman molosser "Canis Pugnax". And the presence of this noble breed in Italy has been confirmed since the Middle Ages. In 1591 Erasmo Valsone in the poem “La Caccia” quotes: “the Corso great power, boldly attacks the beast and holds it back: since he has taken it, the tooth does not know how to loosen”. In 1881 Giovanni Verga, in his “Malavoglia” wrote: “He bites worse than a Corso dog”. At the time he was being trained for combat in war, for which he had a great predisposition, but even then his most suitable job was the defense of the territory. And this is precisely the main use that was made of it in the ancient farms of southern Italy: defense of farms and custody of livestock in the wild.
I am still not clear on the actual differences between both breeds in terms of exercise needs and mental stimulation. Even the character seems no different really, provided the dog comes from a good breeder. Can anyone please help me out? Thank you 😊

Just found this video. We have both. Male CC and female Rottie. A firm hand is needed with both. Thank you for this video
You hit the nail on the head with Rott’s !!! I had a large Male 150 pounds and he lived to be 12 years old but he lived inside with A/C he father and grandfather were Guard dogs at a plant at night MEAN LOOKING and he was feisty , very protective wouldn’t let anyone around me MISS HIM DEARLY HAD TO VOICE UP AND SAY THANKS 🙏🏻 FOR GIVING A VERY CLEAR REPRESENTATION OF THE BRED I would of swore u were talking about my ROCKO explaining the traits 🙏🏻🙋🏼♀️
I Had a Rotty through 8 hard years. We have a 14 mnth female cane corso now It's impressive how quickly you summed up what my last decade has included. Thanks
I have a combination of both breeds.. her name is Tiva and I couldn't have possibly been blessed with a better smarter more loyal loving companion ... I wish I could upload a picture and not because she's my dog but she's one of the most beautiful dogs you've ever seen I get so many comments on her...
Your videos are great man you hit the nail on the head.. I see all the traits of both breeds in her and it's so wonderful.. she is without a doubt love of my life and my best friend.
I have had both but last year got a Corso and he is my favorite by far. Nothing against the Rottweiler though.
Great video! Bruce is so handsome indeed! I grew up with two rotties, I had my own dogue de Bordeaux who was so very similar to Bruce, sadly he passed almost 2 years ago at the age of 10, I'm now looking to welcome a cane corso into our lives. Thank you for all you clear, educational, and realistic honest videos! 😊
I dog sit a corsow tottweiler cross and she is a handful! Very strong minded. Your vidios have really helped me look after her and understand some of her behaviors. Thank you!
Cane corso and chihuahua in my house - both perfect family dogs in this case ❤ They are teaching each other and learning one from another 😊
....i luve both of breeds....its too hard to choose one....
Love the clip of Bruce Wayne
I have a German Rott and now getting a Blue Corso in February. Also have a Bully so ready to see this family mix.
I love the Cane Corso. Almost got one, but settled on a female Dogo Argentino instead and I'm very glad I did. Sweetest dog I've ever owned and very good with other dogs of all sizes.
I have a cane but I really want a dogo once I decide to get another dog. How are they with small children?
@@Lin.D.SaY. my female is about 8 weeks older than my grandson and she is very gentle with him. They’re both nearly 3 now and there has never been an incident and they are around each other nearly every day. Only exception is bumping him over by mistake because of her size 😂
I do my best to get people to watch your channel . You know what you're talking about.
I absolutely love these videos. I had a Rottweiler, Doberman, bull mastiff and mow a Cané Corso and the CC is by far my favorite dog breed.
That is awesome!
Why?
we just got a puppy Corso.. She is proven to be alot of work but it a huge lover..
Cane Corso is majestic breed for sure 👍🏻
It really is!
Fenrir Cane Corso Show i would really appreciate if you can make a video on Cane corso kibble diet according to age and supplements to go with it...thanks
.. currently i am feeding Orijen ...and rotate it with n&d...
Great video! Would like to see a Cane Corso vs dogue de Bordeaux video. With temperament rating on the dogue.
Great suggestion!
Excellent overview of the difference between breeds. We have a rottweiler puppy and there is a cane corso pit bull in our puppy classes.I am happy to here in the class they will be ok and can stay friends afterwards.
2 of the best dogs you could ask for.....you did a fantastic job educating us. Thank you
Thanks for watching Alex, glad you enjoyed it!!
Great video, I have a 2 yo female Cane Corso.. she’s awesome
That stomach issue Is true. One of my pups had it.
Did you mention how the Rottweiler was instrumental is resurrecting the Cane Corso, after WII?
How so? Never heard this.
@@madginger3634 cool, never knew this. I’m going to look into it more. Always like to know more on the history of the CC. Thanks 👍🏾

I'll take two of each!
Will thank you for your beautiful and confidence building TH-cam videos.
We just got a Presa canario pup what is your thoughts.
I am so glad that you know where the Rottweilers originated from I praise your research great video love both dogs have had Rottweilers all my life and yes I am subscribed to your channel
Your video's are brilliant, very interesting and educational , always loved and wanted a rottweiler, but I'm running out of year's now. For now I'll stick with my mix , German shepherd/ lab and best friend, who thinks he's a lion .
Great show, Id like to buy a alano very soon Ive seen them work in Spain and are a beautiful breed but no one ever talks about this breed ?
I got 2 sisters cane corso 5 months and super smart potty trained
Really good video I had 2 Rotts in the past and loved them and now have a Cane Corso and I really love hem and will be the only breed I will have the rest of my life both are great dogs
Thanks for the support!
I have always liked both these breeds and even own a Corso and a Rotti/bull mastiff now. The characteristics mentioned are pretty spot on. Thank you for another great video. PS your beard is looking good lol
Thank you for the support!
I had 2 Rotts and now a Cane Corso the Rotts were great but I really favor the Cane Corso now
Interesting, Thanks! I am in the Corso camp.
Thanks!
In a nutshell the Cane Corso is more predictable than the Rottie and slightly more tolerant?
Are the Odin collars still on sale?
Hi Will, we are moving to a new build house and will not have a fence for a period of time. What is your opinion on an invisible fence?
IMHO: Nope. Both of these breeds will take the pain if they feel that their 'services' are needed on the other side of the invisible fence line. Once they go into fight- mode, pain is no longer perceived as a deterrent, but as another good reason to take action. Especially the Cane Corso has a very high hardness.
Very informative, thank you.
With the assumption that proper socialization and obedience classes are in the picture, which of these two breeds is better with small dogs and children?
Been around a lot of Rottweilers never Cane Corsos but pretty sure I would choose a Rottie
I need 2 of those collars for my corso’s!! But website doesn’t show them 😕
All our current products are listed over on www.fenrircanineleaders.com, we keep updating our stock and products so keep and eye on our website for the our latest releases!
I use to breed Rots for years and my sister did for 20 years. No longer. But once a litter had 2 blond pups. The color of golden Labs. I freaked out! 😡👹 But came to learn very, very rare...
Kindly make a video on cane corso kibble diet and supplements...thanks
Thanks for the suggestion!
Will, I play flirt pole with my dogs basically everyday (olde english bulldogge and American bully both 75-80lbs) i enjoy getting them to jump while chasing. Would you say this is bad for there joints?

Amazing content thanks for sharing... I think would be owners have all they need right there....
If I may ... having owned and been around both... its really hard to not favor a well breed Rottweiler
My wife and I have a Rottweiler but we also want to get a Cane Corso.
Can i get both Rottweiler and cane corso
Rottweiler male and female??
And
Cane corso male and female??
The one thing I didn't notice in this video being a rottweiler owner is, how do rottweilers and cane corso's get on living together.
Great video 👌

My rotty grown up close to horse track, he grow up whit my friends sharplanina dog, those two were best dogs in the world if they dont see a horse , then is open season ...
Thats Odin collar is named after my Cané Corso puppy huh 😂
I am an indian . Not much known about dogs . But saw both dogs .
Cane corso may be more powerful. But rotti look more classic than corso
Can a male
Rotty and female
Lab x collie live with a female cane Corso ?
Mastin Espanol, good with children, very low prey drive, good with other dogs.
Great points you covered. Thinking about switching breeds . I haven’t have animals in 6 years and all I had were poodles . Lol but sheesh these two breeds are a lot of work but definitely more protective. My poodles all they cared about was food lol. Had them for 15 years.before they passed
Hope our videos help you settle on the right breed for you!
Rottweilers are the best breed
I've raised Huskies and put boxers thought I wanted a Cane Corso but now I'm worried sucks there amazing dogs😞
first person
I have a metal kennel and he's got bolt cutter teeth ate through that put a hole in my couch arm I didn't get mad though I love him
Rott is a versatile dog, certainly smarter, I don't know if a corso can be used in the police or the army.
Yep even in military
So sorry to hear about your corso
Thank you!
Thank you 😊
Why do ypu need someone to tell you how to excercise and stimulate? Pretty obv. Tbey both need to run.
Bruce Wayne !
? What is done to their ears and why? I don't understand mutilation to the ears or anything tails, etc. Why is this done

Shar Pei and Rottweiler just wondering do you think I'd be able to manage a Cane Corso

@@d.j.wellington I found the shar pei and rottweiler to be equal in a lot of ways and strong as each other just the shar pei fur let's them down because your constantly having to use flower of sulphur to fix skin allergies chows have a huge stubborn streak but they are strong to but depends what your looking for in a dog coz chows take a lot longer to train because of there stubborn streak so a lot of patience is required but the rottweiler gets every command first time just a shame they get a bad rep cos rottweiler fantastic dogs it's all how you treat them it's not the breed
