    One of the biggest failures is PSA not pressing receivers into trunions and not using swell-neck rivets. It's a cut corner not worth cutting. They should strive to do better and the customers who are so in love with PSA should want them to strive to be better.

I had to send both of my PSA romy kit rifles in for repair. To be fair, I probably won't buy a PSA AK again but I'll enjoy the ones that I have.

      The problem is not well known because no one buying a PSA is putting 10k rounds through it. The pop rivets arent even supported by dimpling, they will fatigue its just a matter of when. The bolt is made wrong, the firing pin channel erodes and your gun shits the bed. This one has a russian bolt so it won't have that issue but I would hate for my tula build to start walking headspace.

    PSA always seems to cut corners on historical reproductions.
    I personally always believe that if a company is trying to produce a period correct piece, they should strive for the historical intricacies, especially a good fitment between the dust cover and reciever on a military production copy that uses parts kits.
    Palmetto isn't a bad company by any means, but they are like the McDonalds or Burger King of the gun world, as by that I mean it entirely depends on the workers who make the product which determine the quality of the product.
    Also Misha are you going to look at the PSA Spiker "Type 56 stamped Norinco" copy?
    They look to be around the $1K mark in terms of cost, and look to be the fixed stock varient, which can either come with the spike bayonet or not.
    Interestingly PSA has a kit for it to make it a side folder Type 56-3, however it looks to not be the correct stock since I am pretty sure the Chinese T56-3 AK's had a cross bar with a plastic holder in the folding stock somewhere to hold a oil bottle and didn't have a spike bayonet.
    I am personally holding off on the purchase of one til I can see its similarity to an authentic Chinese AK, and see if it would be just worthwhile to look for an original Chinese import instead for either quality or authenticity.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No plans on the spiker right now but never know about in the future. The Type 56-3 was a fixed stock gun. The 56-2 was the so=-called bakelite folder. The original stock was unique and used a unique rear trunnion. It had a large bakelite paneled piece in the middle that contained a spring loaded cleaning kit. The buttplate and arms were made from stamped steel, with a blued finish. The release latch was on the underside. It was just its own thing.

    • @RedZeppelinAirship
      @RedZeppelinAirship 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@misha5670 Ah, I see. I thought it was the rare folding stock for the chinese AKs was the 56-3 for a tubular side folding stock.
      I haven't seen a AKS-762 side folding chinese AK in many years. I seem to remember them not having bakelite cheek rests on them and also the stock being tubular instead of stamped, like a RK95 Valmet, however I could be wrong since I haven't seen one in 5+ years.
      My second request would be a video on the Type 84S 5.56 Chinese AK type rifle. I have not seen a deep dive on it on your channel and would love to see some intricities on it if you have one or have the ability to make a video on one.
      I once had 84S, but it was very difficult to find 5.56 AK mags that would fit in the reciever besides expensive 84S mags, and ended up trading it to a friend for a well worn police issued 357 Colt Python from the late 1960s and a Norinco Model 320 Uzi copy. Sadly, I really ended up regretting that trade, even though I likely got the "better end of the stick" in that deal in terms of value of items gotten. Even asked to purchase it back, but he wanted $3200 for it which doesn't seem like a good deal for it.
      That being said, I think the 84S is one of the best 556 chambered AKs I have ever shot, and would actively go out of my way to get one again if life gives me a chance.

    The rivets, dimpling, and bolt specs really turned me off from PSA. Why can't companies simply make things right?? They invested in all the forging tools only to skimp out on freaking rivets and specs???? what is that?

    I bought one of their Russian Tula kit builds a few months ago. For me it's just a collectible and something I may take out and run a magazine or two through every once in a blue moon. That being said, I don't think I should have any problems at least for a good while (not something I'm going to be running hard anyway, like thousands and thousands of rounds through). Agreed, I don't think you'll have any real issues. Only thing i might sugest if you fire it somewhat often is replace the orig recoil spring with an extra power one. PSAs seem a little large in their gas ports, which leads to more gas in the system, which leads to recoil, which over-time 'could' excellerate wear. With a standard PSA, who cares? But when using ventage & collectible Russian parts? Might want to save them if possible. I have done this with some of my own guns too, including earlier Zastava NPAPs.

    PSA guns aren’t exactly supposed to be collectors pieces… idk I feel like there place in the market is to offer a decent gun that you don’t have to feel like your abusing taking it out and shooting it. Some of these imports are guns that for a lot of people are investments like any other collectible. And it’s hard to justify taking a 3k AK out shooting and running drills for practice when you could take a $700 one that has the exact same capabilities and you don’t feel guilty tricking it out with mods… of course a AK is a antiquated platform and if you live in the US it’s more of a Range toy than anything. That being said I like my z pap92 and m70 if I’m buying a AK style rifle to play around and shoot with it be a Zastava ..
    No way should you own any AK before having a very nice AR platform setup ready to run , Helmet ,Comms, Armor, belt ,Nods ,etc… after you have yourself setup for going to war if the need comes one day then go into collecting range toys … the way the world is right now every male in the west should be getting ready to go serve if the Russian and Middle East threats don’t turn around. And if our governments don’t make the decision then we should be ready to take the initiative we can’t allow the west to be pushed around it will be detrimental to our children’s children if we don’t set the world order for the next 50 years again.

      Wasn't aware that they were doing barrel work for others, but even still, aug as the example isn't surprising considering the caliber.
