I read a book called, “I’m not yelling!” She said something I think is so profound! (I’m paraphrasing it) We are not suffering from Imposter Syndrome. We suffer from Imposter Treatment. Yes, we deal with IS but it is exasperated by how people treat us. Good topic, Beautiful Dr. ❤❤❤

@@BrisaMarie Yesss, I’m a lover of books that physically open and shut, but I was so excited to read this one that I got it on audible. I listened twice. Back to back. I think you’ll enjoy it. ❤️

I'm currently applying for PhD's and have gotten support from professors and my professional mentor and that should make me feel okay but sometimes I get things to them late or feel like I'm not as good of a mentee as they would like, and it scares me a lot knowing all their efforts could go to waste if I don't get into my top schools. I guess this is imposter syndrome mixed with anxiety...

And that is totally understandable! It is important to remember making mistakes and not being perfect is okay. Everyone could always do "better" but what is important is that you're doing your best! And no matter how the results end up, their role as a mentor is to help you learn and go through the process... so it is never a waste if you are learning... even if that learning is slow. Being gentle and kind to ourselves is hard, and it wont change over night... But taking it day by day and really centering your efforts even when they dont seem significant can help reframe how we are thinking about ourselves and our work.
Good luck!! please let me know if you have any questions that I can help with!!
