Hi! This isn't what this video is about, but watching your channel was a big part of convincing me to apply to PhD. With my background, I didn't think a PhD was possible for me. I'm waitlisted at the moment (at UCI), but your videos help me keep what I want to do in front of me and I'll hopefully apply next year if it doesn't work out this year! =]

Oh my goodness!!! Thank you for sharing this with me. I am so proud of you just for applying!! IT IS AMAZING that you made it to the waitlist and no matter how it all turns out know you BELONG and can do it!
Will you keep me updated please? I would love to know how everything works out!
Thank you for taking the time to comment and share your experience. Not only does that mean a lot to me, but it will also help others who are like you feel inspired. So thank you! Than you for being a part of this #FuturePhD community!

@@BrisaMarie Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! I recently learned I was unfortunately not accepted off the waitlist, but I'm really proud I made it on the waitlist to begin with. I was only able to apply to one program this cycle, so I'll have to wait a bit longer to get started, but that's okay. I'm SO glad I applied. I feel really familiar with the process now and feel a lot more confident about my abilities moving forward. I'm actually pretty excited for the next cycle, haha.

Thanks so much for posting. First gen college grad just accepted to ucla masters program in education. I want to focus on indigenous identity from Central America, so I’m sad they said anti blackness isn’t related to latinidad 😢

Just being an academic that does not want to publish is an absolute thing. 😅 I have no desire to publish, possibly doing some presentations or volunteering at conferences, yes. 😊 If you seek to teach and obtain a tenure track in academia then I can see the importance of it. Tfs

Yes! But also if you are at a teaching college you may not have to publish really at all either. Which I think is good to know hhahaa!
But yes, I think it is super valid to know you can be an academic... and NOT publish! Thank you so much for commenting
