I been using the 390 ADV 2021 model as a daily commuter for the last 2 years. I would say that your skill level will increase if you ride every day - given you're riding consciously and manoeuvring smartly.
I rented it for a day in Bangalore. The bike is not meant for this city's traffic. Of course, you can ride it if it’s your only bike. But the bike itself is not comfortable. It gets terribly hot with bad heat management. No stalling issues whatsoever. But it’s very annoying to ride in stop-go traffic like Bangalore until you find the workaround, which is you actively start to look for gaps in traffic, and point and shoot this thing, keeping it in powerband. That way it’s very eager and enjoyable too. But sedately running it is out of the question (at least comfortably).
If you have this motorcycle and are riding in the city, install a fuelx pro. It will solve a lot of powerband issues, stalling, gear change and foremost the heating issue.
I own ktm 390 adv the only part i hate about it is always engine oil decrease after every 500 to 1000kms. Where i need to wait for it to cool down and let the engine oil come to its level at minimum .then top it up .its difficult to top up because there is no centre stand
You dont have to top it up. I’m sure KTM knows this and they fill 1.7 litres of oil during service to account for some oil loss. KTM as a company has huge R&D and testing teams. They wont be fools to give us 5 yr/75k km warranty and not be aware of this. Still, if you think you know better than them, keep topping it up.
Hahaha. I’m getting that a lot these days Coz those who have known me for less than 5 years have seen me only with a beard 😅 And thanks so much for the continued support ❤️
Who ever buy a KTM bike, strictly understand the character of the engine. In the city it’s easy to manage until u realise about staying at lower rpms and gears. On the highway just open the throttle and relax urself. So nothing to complain that KTM engines lack low end, never ever agree this point, if u own the KTM, love the engine character & handling and adapt urself to the character of the engine and once u r synced ,u r the boss on the road.
I fail to get the torque complaints: it can climb up a steep slope easily, how much more do you need? That headlight though should have callsign of 'hangman' from Top Gun Maverick- "he'll always hang you out to dry".
No issues, it was a gentle way of saying it keeps you asking for more, you don't get it. I'll recommend the movie though, one of the rare watchable ones.
I bought 390Adv standard version recently a month old , I use it daily in Bengaluru traffic. I feel some irritating sound coming from the engine which I feel Annoying. What to do with it any idea ? And ny daily commute is around 40km up and down
First of all, there is no problem. One needs to understand how the Adv works and adapt accordingly. For those who cant adapt, FuelX will give relief. Its like how your confidence increases after 3-4 drinks 😅
Don’t invest money for any fuel optimisers, stick to stock setting and it will grow inside u. Better buy some good gears & helmet. Unless u have some system exhaust, go for fuel optimisation , other than that don’t be fooled by the social media posts & reels plz. Also, for a single cylinder bike, don’t change the exhaust or the headers. U won’t be happy there after.
Can you elaborate more on how the suspension is. Little bit more explanation would have been better instead of just mentioning knee lift, as for a ADV, suspension is the most crucial
Its hard. The rebound is slow. Potholes and speedbreakers can be felt as a jolt to the back if not slowed down enough. Since its an Adv, it makes sense to just thrash the speedbreakers and potholes by just standing up a bit.
@@baahubalii not even close. The SW variant with adjustable suspension is better than the X. But suspension plushness is a double edged sword. The soft suspension setup is good got slow speeds. Once you pick up speed, the X handles like a charm due to the stiff suspension. Its so much fun on twisties
Got your point, So X is better suited for highways. Thanks for the clarification. I'm planning to get a bike for a daily commute which can handle bad roads and also a little bit of touring. Xpulse sounds good for my needs.
@@baahubalii Himalayan 450 also would be good choice. Xpulse definitely has better low down torque needed for city. Check out the Suzuki VStrom 250 SX as well.

Hi Sir! I'm looking forward to buy a new bike. I love Adventure X model but the confusion is I need a bike now but new Adventure is coming but not sure they would bring a X model anywhere soon. Should I go for this which I know its production will be stopped soon or should I buy a new variant or anyother?
I heard someone say - I’ll wait for the himalayan 450 when i bought my X. Then after the 450 was released, the same person said I’ll wait for the second batch of 450s as the first batch from RE will usually have quality issues and they will fix those in the second batch/iteration. Today I have enjoyed over 16k km of riding on my X and my friend still doesnt have his motorcycle. I hope you get the drift here. I have ridden my X more than 16k km in a year. And i bought my X 20 years after my Karizma. Can u imagine what all i lost out in between? Life isn’t about waiting. Does the X fulfil your needs (at least in theory)? If yes, then why wait for the new one? Do you think the next gen Adv is going to be perfect? No. It will be better but then there will always be something else around the corner which will be more promising. Good luck with your choice.
@@prameethprabhu This really does give me a better perspective and clarity at this point as decision making is very hard. Absolutely. The number of gear changes and subsequently the blipping for downshifts will drastically improve if we put conscious thought to it.
As a 390X owner my left leg calves are grown 😂😂
Bought to go on long rides but in reality using as a office commuter
Along with the calf muscles, your left hand fore arms also must have grown 🤣
