Test rode the 390 adv today because I was getting confused watching the online comparisons while waiting for the Himalayan. Ended up getting even more confused after the test ride because of how similar both felt to ride. Thank god for your video. Your part 2 will make the decision for me! 😊

I have a adv 390 and i have done 10k kms on it, I dont understand why people complain about stalling it hasn't stalled once unless it is ridden on the 3rd gear at 10 kmph, we have to understand how the ktm engines are meant to be ridden

    • @cruise4224
      @cruise4224 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I agree. Rider needs to bring the motorcycle to right gear and accelerate. I feel this automatically happens once you understand the machine. Having said that, the knocking sound in KTM when I test rode it is irritating( unless it is specific to the bike I rode)

@@vishaalpamulapati7035People complain because the problem has plagued many 390 Adventure owners as well as BS6 390 Duke owners. The most common fixes were replacement of the clutch lever switch and cleaning (and sometimes replacement) of the throttle body. It was fixed for a friend of mine after he got a new throttle body.

Very true...buzz shouldn't be mistaken for Vibration.. in city conditions heat is a given.
Rode them both back to back on same city stretch.
Felt Himalayan tiring to ride in city as it's clutch is relatively harder but it was faster due to better initial torque, thus needed more shifting and breaking. Repeated over again, it was tiring. Also it felt ungainly big in city traffic.
Found KTM needed less work as it stayed slotted in lower gears. Also felt KTM was more sedate and lighter thus safer in city's thick traffic conditions.

I own a 390 ADV. The side by side image is definitely striking how much more ground clearance the 450 has. The 450 is also a very attractive bike. I am not a fan of the 390's parrot beak. I bought the 390 because of the huge value at the time. I believe 450 has closed the value gap. If I was chosing today it would be the 450, however the 2025 390 Adv looks to have best of both worlds.

I've set my mind on the Himalayan. I'm moving up from a 180cc Apache BS4. And I feel that the vibration and heat on the Himmy is significantly less. My hand sometimes tingles after long rides on my Apache, especially if I'm holding the RPM between 4500-5500 ( I took it to multiple service centres and enquired, apparently the 180cc carburettor engine is just buzzy in general). The engine heats up quite a bit in traffic too.

    Hello Bosky & CK
Ivr got the H450 a week back.. Im meeting a lot f these very curious people on road coming and asking these Questiins .. Suspension, heat, mileage, vibrations nd engine noise etc etc.
Just as you said .. its normal to have these for this segment, nd to be honest, the vibrations are way lesser than what ive expected. No issues while riding the lower RPMs (yes the engine feels smooth past 3200rpm)
As a downside i only felt the switches positions
Im 6.1 the riding position js quite neutral. But but when you stand up l, the handle bar feels to be a bit low for my liking. !
Nd im enjoying the new Himi as people calling it.
Ive been using the 90 STD 350 for the last 15+ years

Still into your review Bosky & I’m liking it so far. I get so mad when I see/hear all those unnecessary & unrealistic issues mentioned by those so called bloggers. On the air filter front while I understand it’s difficult for maintenance one big big advantage is that it will avoid so much of dust, sand & muck which otherwise would have been usually sucked through if the air filter was under the seat. I have a first had experience of it & know how much more damaging it is to the engine.

Spot on ! I recently test rode rhe Himalayan 450,.Although I have the Adv 390, it was too tempting to not do so😂. God knows how showa managed to design such a pair of innately active front forks. Yes the seat is a Ballsquashky😂, me being light set and riding in my jeans which do not let me grip the tank well. The pillion footrests are too high set I felt. Like you rightly said the engines are very similar in character. Overall I am a happy owner of adv 390 mainly because of the seat, the light weight and rhe pillion comfort. For the mild trails and tours I take,19 inch wheels work just fine.

If you see it on paper Himalayan has more Torque.
GS is light yes but light in power too.
Himalaya is heavy but doesn't feel heavy while driving.
Himalayan will be pocket friendly to maintain. On the other side GS has high maintenance, BMW charges a premium for everything
Main thing - You can get Himalayan fixed anywhere in India due to service network but that's not the case with BMW GS 310.
Himalayan is still value for money.

On the other hand I spend close to 20k+ every year on my 2016 Thunderbird.
And yeah, might be that the weight isn't felt while we are out on the highway with the Himalayan, but I definitely felt the weight in stop and go city traffic.
I was dead set in getting the Himalayan seeing all the specs on paper and took the test drive just for the confirmation. But now looking at second hand lightly used GS's which is comparable and even less at times.

Good points as usual. The thing with on board display seems ridiculous. Why two screens have to be on at the same time. The integration of a display for navigation in the bike is to reduce the effort of our phones. But the display to be on always just puts the navigation on the dash a useless feature. The thing with plugging in the phone onboard while riding to compensate for the battery drain is just the way things are right now. Our phones have a huge display more information expert navigation so the cluster advertising as a good feature seems off😅

Detailed and entertaining comparison between both bikes. Carry on the detailed technical reviews regarding nuances of motorcycles.
I would request Bigbear customs as a Yamaha fanboy for your inputs and suggestions for Yamaha to launch a 450cc single(for Indian budget consious mind) with very high performance (above 50 bhp and a lower compression ratio than 11.5 :1) with premium components.
It should be in a streetfighter, adventure and sport genres.
All expecting Yamaha to manufacture all their MT07, R7, Tenere 700, MT09,etc... to be manufactured in India atleast gradually. So that Indian public can get real taste of Yamaha without breaking the bank.
Also hope Maruthi Suzuki to launch the 3 door Jimny in India atleast in limited numbers for each and every year. If everything is seen based on practicality alone we cannot enjoy good things.

How is RE and KTM engine quality? as I rode Honda for the last 15yrs and clocked more than 1lacs kms without any issue. I am 5.9inch with 65kg kerb weight. What should you recommend for me. otherwise I have to purchase CB350RS.

Thanks for your response. Sir, my primary consent for RE is it's weight and cone set issues, and engine quality in the long-run for KTM because it is a high compression engine. I have shortlisted a few CB 300F, CB350RS, KTM Adventure 250, 390, and Himalayan 452. Can you help me in this regard, what I should buy. I am 5.9 with 65kg weight. Can I manage RE in broken roads. 1) what was the wait time like? ( I’m being told 5 months, seems very high )

I have a question - I have 2019 electra bs4(22000km), recently on a tour to east & north Sikkim realised that 2 19inch wheels (Michelin tyre) with spokes and carborator is not enough to go with a group modern bikes (like Ktm 390,int 650, meteor 350,Honda 200x). Bike doesn't go beyond 100/kmph, loses lots of power in the heights. Even Honda 200x works better than my bullet. I have one advantage -seat & old handle bar which was relaxing. I don't like my foot pegs ( they are very close need them to be far) & gearing/ gear box. I am On an extreme budget. Don't want to buy a new motorcycle. But if I have to buy what bike should I buy?
Requirements -I am 6feet,have rib injury/muscle pain for 15years. Want a functional ride for myself, wife and a toddler.

That both gives you more legroom and is more natural when you need to standup off-road.
