Is KTM 390 Adv-X good for technical trails?
In the previous episode I told you that we rode through a technical trail after exploring the hill. In this we video I have covered the same. May I know where did you get that front number plate holder? I'm still waiting for my number plates but don't like it to be fixed under the headlight

I also had chat with Varun but in one of your latest shorts found the number plate was fixed in middle of the visor where Activa clamp can only be fixed at the top 2 screws only. I'm referring to your 14th Apr 2024 shorts with name "Did you know?" In that shorts may I have you done to fix it in middle of the visor?
Sir, i am very much confused between getting 390x or the standard one. Do you think missing out on cornering abs make much of a difference (safetywise etc)?

@@Sauron8 i wouldn’t recommend the 390 for beginners. Suzuki V Strom 250/Triumph Scrambler 400X would be easier to manage.

@@Sauron8 Go for it then. There is nothing that can’t be learnt. Abhishek Bachchan learnt riding for Dhoom and jumped straight onto a superbike. After all, we are talking only 373cc. My suggestion is to get skills from professionals who can help you you get the best out of your machine. Good luck 🤞🏻

What will you choose today KTM adv 390X or Triumph Scrambler 400X?
@@dipyamankhamaru4748 Even today I would have chosen the Adv-X over the Scrambler 400X or the Himalayan 450. As compared to the 400X, The Adv-X is more suited for long highway runs due to better wind protection, more luggage carrying capacity, more choices of accessories availablity and better service network. Plus not to mention, Adv-X is a time tested product which is still an unknown for the 400X. For example - the alloys of the Adv were further strengthened from 2023 onwards which means it can take a beating off road. That is still an unknown territory for 400X. As compared to the Himalayan 450, Adv-X is more mad, lighter and just more fun. Plus. I dont wanna deal with the reliability or the tube tyres of the himalayan. It doesn’t mean they are bad bikes. These are my reasons for still choosing the Adv-X.

@@kp6425v i’m 5’8 and i dont find any challenge with the ride height. Technique is more important on technical trails. Thats where the name comes from
Saw this video after I'd booked the X, cemented it for me. And now on re-watch, I too had the same situation taking the bike everywhere, even off-road, before the number plate had arrived (paper number plate 😅)

Who ever buy a KTM bike, strictly understand the character of the engine. In the city it’s easy to manage until u realise about staying at lower rpms and gears. On the highway just open the throttle and relax urself. So nothing to complain that KTM engines lack low end, never ever agree this point, if u own the KTM, love the engine character & handling and adapt urself to the character of the engine and once u r synced ,u r the boss on the road.

Hey amazing video Just amazing I am currently confused between super meteor 650 or KTM adventure 390. My priority is to travel with my wife as pelion. Very confused between these 2 bikes
@@devagyasharma519 Thanks! But what is the confusion? Confusion arises when we are stuck between two similar motorcycles (example - 390 Adv vs Himalayan 450). The two motorcycles you have mentioned couldn’t be further apart. One is a cruiser and one’s an ADV. If you only want to ride highways and good roads, Super Meteor should make more sense. If you want to ride highways, good roads and everywhere else too, the Adv390 makes sense.
Cruiser motorcycles don't make sense for Indian roads you'll just end up wrecking your tailbone by the end of the year ..advs and scramblers are a better deal

Wow. After watching this video I realised I have not done trails at all. I think you are right when you say that learning this can be very useful even if you are not going to do off road. A small patch of gravel can be so dangerous on a highway. At least one might develop better instincts.

@@veereshr Yes! I rode these trails on stock MRF tyres. The front was completely worn out which was replaced a couple of days later.
Some super tight and technical trails there, good riding skills.

I wouldn't dream of taking it to technical trail 😅. Yes , as you said going up the hill js tough but trailing down is even harder especially with this bike . One more complaint or feedback i received from other riders/autorickshaw drivers were regarding the radiator sound. Man , its too much for anyones liking.
@@prashantha_k An year back i too wouldn’t dream of treading in such places. But i have gradually worked on my skills and now these kind of trails are fun. True! The radiator fan is quite loud. When i was editing this video, i heard the fan sound so many times 😀

What do you say about air filters? Is stock filter enough? I see here n there on stories about bmc filter etc
@@PiyushPatel10 Stock filter is crap! Gets clogged in no time if you are into off roading. Its cheap to replace but still have to go through the hassle. I’m considering options. There is a combination of BMC/K&N/Ngage stock replacement and DNA filter cover which work together. But it has to be worked with a different mindset. The problem with these is the time it takes to clean them vs the time it take to replace the OEM filter (which hardly costs anything) Will update in one of the future videos about this

@@PiyushPatel10 I have ridden the Himalayan. And if i were to choose a motorcycle today, I would have still chosen the 390 Adv-X.

@@PiyushPatel10 Some reasons why I wouldn’t go for the Himalayan 450 1. Unproven product (1st version always has issues) 2. Weight 3. Spoke wheels 4. Isnt as mad as a KTM.

I have installed a crashguard. But that is for a different reason. The stock crash guard that comes with the bike is the best and enough for protection.

@@f-59-hemanthmp39 Yes. No one makes motorcycles like KTM. It’s very well thought of. The crash guard not only protects your leg in case of a fall but also the panels of the motorcycle.

I bought 390Adv standard version recently a month old , I use it daily in Bengaluru traffic. I feel some irritating sound coming from the engine which I feel Annoying. What to do with it any idea ? And ny daily commute is around 40km up and down
I cannot say what the sound is, whether it is normal or not. Best to visit SC and get it checked.

I rented it for a day in Bangalore. The bike is not meant for this city's traffic. Of course, you can ride it if it’s your only bike. But the bike itself is not comfortable. It gets terribly hot with bad heat management. No stalling issues whatsoever. But it’s very annoying to ride in stop-go traffic like Bangalore until you find the workaround, which is you actively start to look for gaps in traffic, and point and shoot this thing, keeping it in powerband. That way it’s very eager and enjoyable too. But sedately running it is out of the question (at least comfortably).
For a city like bangalore, best is to buy something like Ather

I been using the 390 ADV 2021 model as a daily commuter for the last 2 years. I would say that your skill level will increase if you ride every day - given you're riding consciously and manoeuvring smartly.
Absolutely. The number of gear changes and subsequently the blipping for downshifts will drastically improve if we put conscious thought to it.
