I feel Palafin being taken from that fanart is an incredible stretch here. The reason Palafin looks so much like the fanart is because both are based on the same mythological Brazilian creature and its general associated vibes, aka a dolphin that is able to become a humanoid handsome man to seduce human women. The heart motifs are pretty easy to extrapolate from the seducer aspects, and then the muscular humanoid form is pretty self explanatory.

Yup. In addition to its seductive nature, Dolflate is also likely pink because the IRL river dolphin tied to the myth is pink as well. Not entirely sure why Finizen and Palafin are blue though, other than to represent the Water type and to exude a cool/heroic vibe I think Scovillain's resemblance to Burnipper is pretty uncanny though, like they have the same overall body shape + their TOES are the same

the palafin and Scovillain are really big stretches, palafin is based on a brazilian mytholigical creature and scovillain is just one of many pepper pokemon designs, so theres a small chance that an official pepper pokemons design would be brand new
I wish GAME FREAK would listen to more fan ideas like the Ilex Shrine Celebi event. We need more special events like this where getting these Mythical Pokemon feels *EARNED* rather than just being given to you without you being able to name them.

With such a massive and long-running franchise like Pokemon, I think it starts to get really hard to avoid taking inspiration from fan works. I mean, when I was a kid 20 years ago, everyone my age knew Pokemon. Today, everyone around that same age still knows Pokemon. No matter how original your ideas are going to be at this point, they'll overlap with an idea that someone else had, and maybe even drew up. So you might as well find the best ones and let your fans be excited they got to contribute.
When I was much younger, I once heard a version of the Celebi rumor that Celebi could be caught from Gold and Siover in honor of the release of Crystal, but like many others, I also later learned that Celebi could only be caught in Crystal version and only in a certain special event that took place only in Japan.

Saying that a Pokémon is based on a fakemon creation is a huge stretch (besides lugia). After all there are probably millions of fakemons by now and it's WAY harder to make a new pokemon that doesn't look like one.

I once designed a region that had a new evolution for Seviper, Viperil, and a pre-evolution for Zangoose, Yangoose. Zoygoose would only evolve into Zangoose upon leveling up after defeating a Viperil. Kind of similar how Bisharp evolves nowadays.

I’ve looks all over the internet and couldn’t find anything about that. My cousin and I remember the event very well dude to us trying to come up with an idea, and mailing it in.
