I think for Normal-types its definitely Extreme Speed. A draw-back free base 80 STAB with not +1, but +2 priority. The only two Normal-types to get it are Linoone and Arceus-Normal and their entire competitive usage revolves around the move.
I wish every type had an 80+ base power move (physical and Special) with no drawbacks. The question of Air Slash or Hurricane never has a correct answer.
@@chelseareads698 But they’re the ONLY option. Water types have Surf for consistant damage, Hydro Pump for more risky but high damage, Scald for the burn chance, Waterfall for flinching and solid damage, Liquidation for reliable great damage, Flip Turn for momentum as well as all the unique signature moves. Water types have the option to choose. Flying types have gimmicky Acrobatics, bird-exclusive moves (Brave Bird, Drill Peck), very weak Aerial Ace, inaccurate and weak Air Slash and VERY inaccurate Hurricane. Point is, Flying types don’t have any great choices.
I am pretty surprised that body press wasnt even mentioned in the fighting time section. Its damage scales with the users defense stat. This can give special attackers with high defense physical coverage (like archaludon or bronzong), gives you extra damage with defense boosts and its damage doesnt get decreased by intimidate
Its hard to determine a single move cause the best move depends on the use of the pokemon. For example hydrosteam and eruption are both special, so you wouldnt really be using fiscious rend on a special attacker and vice versa.

What a scary thumbnail. I was just learning about the horrors of Shaymin-Sky in Ubers after watching your Gen IV OU serene grace adventures. Not a very fun ability I’d have to say. Can’t wait for the status move list as well! I am more interested about the types without good support moves. Spore is the clear top choice for Grass-type moves, though Leech Seed, Strength Sap, and Sleep Powder would arguably be the best if they belonged to a different type.
This list does have me thinking about some new moves that I think would be good to be added to future games: -Water: with Scald’s reduced pool of users, either an 85 power 100 accuracy special move with a wide user pool or increasing Water Pulse’s base power could fix some Pokemon’s loss of a reliable water type attack. -Bug: a bug type version of Freeze Dry might help with how many types resist bug. -Electric: Electric type Close Combat with at least 120 power and that isn’t a signature move. -Fighting: either add a 100 accuracy strong special attacking move, or turn Focus Blast into a move like Thunder where it gets perfect accuracy under certain weather or terrain. (Like Psychic Terrain). -Dragon: not sure if adding another strong physical move would be a good idea because Outrage is unviable in doubles, Scale Shot essentially requires the user to hold Loaded Dice, and Glaive Rush is a signature move. -Rock: a strong 100% accuracy physical move with a wide user pool would be good, even if it’s a 2-turn attack like Meteor Beam or needs Sandstorm to become perfectly accurate.
I haven't played competitive Pokémon in a while, but why was Pursuit removed? Was it considered too problematic or meta-warping? Or did it just not make the cut in the Switch gens & might see a return later?
Apparently there were some issues with implementing it with Dynamax, but they also didnt bring it back for scarlet and violet, so maybe they did just want to get rid of it
For ghost I think we forgot about Rage punch existing, it’s literally last respect, but better since all it has to do to get a crazy damage is get hit, and multi hit moves increase it with every hit, so instead of waiting for your teammates to be KOed you can just do good damage off the bat by being in combat in general
I do not believe that merely handing Muk cash will solve his problems. Without long-term support and education, it seems entirely possible that, rather than investing the money wisely, he may simply spend it all on radioactive waste.
It's incredibly telling in terms of relevance that Fishious Rend is introduced as "The signature move of Dracovish". Poor Arctovish and its upside down helmet head thing. It never even got a chance to show it could do anything (mostly because it can't do much of anything)
Ivy Cudgel honestly should be in the running for each type it could be. Especially rock and grass. Grass in IC was run with a razor claw to fish for flinches. Shout out to fire bonking Tera grass Heatran.
Body press has to be the best fighting move. Dealing damage based on def is so absurd, allowing bulky pokemon to hit extremely hard and iron def to essentially be a double bulk up. Body press is so good that many defensive pokemon that are not even fighting type have their entire offense revolve around it. Give triple arrows to something with serene grace and we can talk, but until then, the viability of many pokemon solely rely on body press.
Jim, your videos on both channels have reached Gogoat status (I had to look up for a goat Pokemon since Gogoat is one of the most forgettable Pokemon out there).
Shout out to Margearnas Fleur Cannon effortlessly picking up kills to somewhat weaken its downside to a -1 Special Attack drop, for the even stronger Lux Calaminatis and Natures Madness, which isnt so powerful on the offensive Tapus, but Super Fang is a good consideration if the best normal move would be body slam. PS: Oblivion Wing is interesting, slaping a broken move on a broken mon and it somehow doesnt feel broken in UBERs, despite being the best pokemon in the tier in gen8.
imagine if Magical Torque could be learned by other things? 100 power, 100 accuracy, physical move that doesn't even make contact and has a 30% chance to confuse
Seeing Bolt Beak is just sad. Even without the secondary effect of doubled power if the user moves first, it's still a better physical electric type move than Wild Charge
I think Sappy Seed is better than Seed Flare overall, even though it's weaker. 90BP is still good enough and it has 100% accuracy in Gen 7. Regardless, 100% chance to seed the opponent is one of the best secondary effects ever, and makes it a solid use of a turn even against Pokemon that resist grass (unless they are immune to Grass attacks or seeding altogether).
I definitely think, despite its drawbacks, fleur cannon is a better fairy type attack. It wasn't even mentioned in the fairy section. A similar situation would be the comparison of dragon pulse (which got nerfed from 90 but still) to draco meteor almost universally draco is the preferred option. In the moonblast/fleur cannon comparison I just know that it would be used more because it's considered better.
I know the focus of the video was on attacking moves, but for Fairy I'd have gone with Geomancy. Move would be busted on almost any fairy type (sorry Carbink/dedenne), only requiring an item slot to be usable
non mythical non legendary pokemon I'd find ideal for the moves if it were possible: water: fishy rend! This is a tough one to start. Lots of pokemon that would do well. Basically any swift swim pokemon, lets be honest. Its actually good on arctovish because it has strong jaw and fisheous rend is a biting move. So with STAB and strong jaw its already amazing. But I'd say even better might be moxie gyarados with choice scarf. Now you are getting attack boosts. Otherwise baraskewda with swift swim and choice band full invest in attack could be deadly. deadly as can be. A true glass canon. fire: blaziken with torch song. Speed boost. Just run it modest. Give it specs. With a little bit of clever play, getting it in safe for a turn of speed boost and one attack free, and its over. No need to set up. Grass: Sceptile? Look, here is the idea. Seed flare is inaccurate. Give it blunder policy. Sceptile learns unburden. If you miss, now you just outspeed everything. Focus blast too, could cover for ice type counter to you. For the mix up, you can potentially throw in acrobatics, but thats a maybe. Once you drop the special defense, you could also run leaf storm to solidify a kill on a set up wall, or run the safer energy ball. Frankly, kind of a hard to place move. Chlorophyll venusaur as mentioned is probably good too because it just fits to whittle down defenses while being tanky. bug: lots of pokemon get it, its kind of not fun to speculate here. Honestly I'll skip it. Anything that would do well with it basically does. Electric: I think it has to be alolan raichu here. surge surfer makes bolt beak hitting first a non-issue. plus the terrain itself boosts its power too. Maybe throwing a scarf on pawmot, but that isn't a very exciting one. Not many non legendary options here, but thats the way it goes. fairy: I fundementally disagree that moonblast is the best fairy move. Maybe Jimothy Cool forgot that geomancy exists? +2 to special attack and defense and speed. Its a double quiver dance, one of the best moves ever. just run a white herb...its white herb right? Instant use and suddenly you are set up. I think if it weren't on xerneas, a non legendary choice is pretty clear to me. Clefable with geomancy, and stored power is nearly unstoppable. I'm not even sure you'd need unaware, who could set up on you after that? So magic guard would prevent some witty tactics. You could even run it full bulk and weakness policy so that the opponent would want to hit you for super effective, and then just give you +4 total special attack, and your stored power would be at a total of 200 base power. But i assume we are maybe going for just pure damage attacks. So I'd say maybe fluer cannon is a contender. its 130 base power and drops special attack two stages. draco meteor, overheat, and others are incredible moves used often. Gardevoir could definately catch people off guard with a nuke like that. fighting: Triple arrows is a cool move, it has kind of conflicting synergy, but its role is clear. I was thinking maybe hariyama with guts and flame orb could be interesting. Or run more disruptively, thick fat, and then lean into its bulk more. Mienshao is already a kind of distruptive pokemon, but its kind of frail and would rely on that flinch chance too much, but its a thought. I don't want to just say blaziken again lol. hard to say, its just a solid move. flying: I didn't know oblivion wing healed so much. So uh...here is a funny one perhaps, if it could work, is put it on dragonite....if you can pull it off with the right stats and item choice, you could perpetually restore your multiscale with it lol. Other than that maybe sigiliph. A nice bulky pokemon, and you could get a solid stab attack. lots of options I'd think. ghost: last respects has only one answer, dragapult. dark: ceaseless edge is an interesting choice. But I won't disagree. If it were 60 power then technician alolan persian would be awesome. Alas. Umbreon is such a wall, I think it would be the most likely to pull off 3 layers of spikes. Then spread poison to pressure switches with toxic. I wonder with this, it could provide enough utility to allow it to run assault vest as a set, could be funny, maybe not the most viable. But foul play is also quite good. snarl too drops enemy sp attack further, one of those on the switch and then you are back to setting spikes and they will find out the hard way that you have assault vest and they are at minus 1 sp atk. But whatever set, umbreon seems the best choice. dragon: what a strange attack. I say give it to everything. I want chaos. ground: Legit, they need to just give thousand arrows to flygon. shhh it don't gotta make sense. I'm not even saying he's the best pick, im saying he deserves it. he was robbed of a mega form. ice: freeze dry is good yes, but kind of a boring pick. I'm going to say lets go with glacial lance because this is my comment. Ahem... weavile. Wreck face. Might as well just give it a scarf or band, why not. Give it ultimate revenge kill power. normal: okay population bomb on ambipom. skill link seems obvious. But technician would be great. poison: dire claw is amazing. hear me out now, it requires some set up, but its funny as heck. alolan muk. power of alchemy. send it out after your serene grace togekiss dies. now serene grace makes it %100 of the effect hitting. So now, i'd see it as more of a %30 chance to sleep, but if it isn't sleep, thats okay :) Maybe a more straight forward pick is weezing perhaps. its already a disruptive tanky fellow and has a weirdly decent attack stat. just wil o wisp and dire claw gives you almost every single status which is hilarious. psychic: esper wing is weird, but I dig it. actually this could be what gardevoir needs to go from a bulky damage dealer to ramp up into a speedy sweeper. rock: okay enough hisui moves. i'm doing mighty cleave instead. its kind of a good on anything move. steel: holy moley i forgot about anchor shot. If arena trap is banned, then you know this move is epic. I don't know what would do well, i'll defer to any number of clever ideas, but as mr cool said, there are loads of situations that make it a powerful move. im sure there is some way to trap the right pokemon in, then set up while they are trapped. I'm assuming some steel type could do that. There is my list. Don't take it too seriously. i'm not a pro, not even close. But it was a fun comment to make and think about. kinda on the fly.
Powerful attacks you seem to have overlooked: Body Press, Thunderous Kick, Rage Fist, Blood Moon, Tera Blast, Gigaton Hammer. (Some of these were shamelessly stolen from the STABmons banlists.)

blaziken with torch song. Speed boost. Just run it modest. Give it specs. With a little bit of clever play, getting it in safe for a turn of speed boost and one attack free, and its over. No need to set up.
Grass:
Sceptile? Look, here is the idea. Seed flare is inaccurate. Give it blunder policy. Sceptile learns unburden. If you miss, now you just outspeed everything. Focus blast too, could cover for ice type counter to you. For the mix up, you can potentially throw in acrobatics, but thats a maybe. Once you drop the special defense, you could also run leaf storm to solidify a kill on a set up wall, or run the safer energy ball. Frankly, kind of a hard to place move. Chlorophyll venusaur as mentioned is probably good too because it just fits to whittle down defenses while being tanky.
bug:
lots of pokemon get it, its kind of not fun to speculate here. Honestly I'll skip it. Anything that would do well with it basically does.
Electric:
I think it has to be alolan raichu here. surge surfer makes bolt beak hitting first a non-issue. plus the terrain itself boosts its power too. Maybe throwing a scarf on pawmot, but that isn't a very exciting one. Not many non legendary options here, but thats the way it goes.
fairy:
I fundementally disagree that moonblast is the best fairy move. Gardevoir could definately catch people off guard with a nuke like that.
fighting:
Triple arrows is a cool move, it has kind of conflicting synergy, but its role is clear. I was thinking maybe hariyama with guts and flame orb could be interesting. Or run more disruptively, thick fat, and then lean into its bulk more. Mienshao is already a kind of distruptive pokemon, but its kind of frail and would rely on that flinch chance too much, but its a thought. I don't want to just say blaziken again lol. hard to say, its just a solid move.
flying:
I didn't know oblivion wing healed so much. So uh...here is a funny one perhaps, if it could work, is put it on dragonite....if you can pull it off with the right stats and item choice, you could perpetually restore your multiscale with it lol. Other than that maybe sigiliph. A nice bulky pokemon, and you could get a solid stab attack. lots of options I'd think.
ghost:
last respects has only one answer, dragapult.
dark:
ceaseless edge is an interesting choice.
I want chaos.
ground:
Legit, they need to just give thousand arrows to flygon. shhh it don't gotta make sense. I'm not even saying he's the best pick, im saying he deserves it. he was robbed of a mega form.
ice:
freeze dry is good yes, but kind of a boring pick. I'm going to say lets go with glacial lance because this is my comment. Ahem... weavile. Wreck face. Might as well just give it a scarf or band, why not. Give it ultimate revenge kill power.
normal:
okay population bomb on ambipom. skill link seems obvious. But technician would be great.
poison:
dire claw is amazing. hear me out now, it requires some set up, but its funny as heck. alolan muk. power of alchemy. send it out after your serene grace togekiss dies. now serene grace makes it %100 of the effect hitting. So now, i'd see it as more of a %30 chance to sleep, but if it isn't sleep, thats okay :)
Maybe a more straight forward pick is weezing perhaps. its already a disruptive tanky fellow and has a weirdly decent attack stat. just wil o wisp and dire claw gives you almost every single status which is hilarious.
psychic:
esper wing is weird, but I dig it. actually this could be what gardevoir needs to go from a bulky damage dealer to ramp up into a speedy sweeper.
rock: okay enough hisui moves. i'm doing mighty cleave instead. its kind of a good on anything move.
steel:
holy moley i forgot about anchor shot.
I think you should of chosen the best physical and special of each type.
For phys water surging strikes would be a contender.
Powerful attacks you seem to have overlooked: Body Press, Thunderous Kick, Rage Fist, Blood Moon, Tera Blast, Gigaton Hammer. (Some of these were shamelessly stolen from the STABmons banlists.)
Pachirisu should've been used when you were talking about Nuzzle
The strongest electric move is half empty signature move of iron Mugulis
Triple axel only has a 72.9% chance of doing max dmg, it is basically focus blast lol.
Geomancy shouldve definitely been mentioned for fairy
What’s is the name of the music used during the electric move portion of the video?
with the power increasing in the meta game it might only be a matter of time before pokemon can use these as well, to keep up because of power creep.
no Headlong Rush mention on Ground?
No aeroblast shoutout? Rage fist?
Rage fist not even mentioned, mankeys cry en mass.
But yes last respect is better
Steam eruption only has 8 pp tho. I know for a fact I click scald more than 8 times and this also gets obliterated by pressure
Wasn't Appleton's signature move a more accurate version of seed flare?
i do not think so
20:39 "...repeating of course"
do the youngsters know this leeroy jenkins reference?
still waiting for powercreep to introduce a(non eevee) attack that sets leech seed
Folks I think it’s in Muk’s best interest to speak with a financial expert such as Gholdengo before acquiring his potential new wealth.
For ghost, there was also Rage fist.
My main takeaway is that the Gen 8 fossil Pokemon are very poorly designed
Grass type could easily be spore. Imagine spore on meowscarada or something, would be much more broken than seed flare
I think Lumina Crash is the best psychic type attack. At least better than Esper Wing
Best attack is return. That's how i beat Cynthia long ago
Jimothy cool viewers rise up
If flower trick was mentioned, then shouldnt surging strike should've also been mentioned.
Dhelmeese, named after delving and the incorrect plural of moose
Rage Fist deserves a mention.
I think zippy zap is the best electric move
For fairy I thinks it's geomancy over moonblast.
You are correct however is it not an attacking move. Status moves will probably be its own video with spore, substitute, etc.
You can write a comment under a Jimothy Cool video and it will automaticallly be read in his voice.
