  • @Jouch_Couch

    What if we got weedle's OG evos as regional forms for gen 10? Weedle's line hasn't been in any games for a few gens now and it's definitely deserving of some extra treatment

    • @YYangles
      @YYangles ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree with you for the most part except for the fact that
      Weedle does not deserve extra special treatment because it’s a gen 1 pokemon and all gen 1 Pokémon are overrated and Nintendo tends to pretend only gen 1 exists most of the time

    • @VCV95
      @VCV95 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Give it a paradox. It's honestly the best beedrill could hope for. It would literally be almost 100 bst higher than the already existing mega, lmao. Plus it could have some neat dual type ideas! Beedrill and its' mega are personal favorites of mine, and was a team member in many of my older gen runs, for want of using it alone.

    • @ericberry7313
      @ericberry7313 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@YYangles I wouldn’t say all Gen 1 Pokemon are overrated. There’s some that could use some love. Jynx is one that I figured would’ve gotten an evolution by now (not saying it necessarily needs one). But ones like Tauros and Pinsir could use evos. I know Tauros got some regional variants in gen 9, but that’s not the same. Also I know Pinsir got a mega evolution, but those are obsolete now
      But with that being said, there’s definitely some other gen Pokemon that could use love as well

    One thing I would like to get to know more of is the whole "balancing" that gen 5 received and why it was applied when these mons were supposed to be different designs and types. The balancing applied to Stunfisk, but it's also well known that the Frillish line got the Ghost type when it was supposed to be a pure Water type. I'm curious into what the thought process was and how that applies to more mons in other generations as well.
    The reworking of mons for type changes could also be a fundamental factor into how we see regional and convergent mons as well, laying down at least the basis for its inspiration in later generations.

    • @Jw87563
      @Jw87563 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The goosefish design could still have worked. It's definitely the same shape as a flounder, so I don't see why it got replaced by Stunfisk.

    • @MrTommygunz0482
      @MrTommygunz0482 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess balancing must be why we have so few fire types, I know it feels like a lot but if you take out starters and legendaries the number is laughable for a primary type.

    I always thought Beedrill and Batterfree lines were counterparts because of Mohamed Ali's famous quote: "float like a butterfly sting like a bee". Maybe it has something to do with that. The also honored Jacky Chan and Bruce Lee in the two hitmons in the English names, but the Japanese names also honor some Japanrse martial artists

    • @matthewkuscienko4616
      @matthewkuscienko4616 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a creative take on it, I'll give you that. But for me personally (and probably many other people), I always associated them with being each other's counterparts because they're both bug types that have many similarities, including things like being found in the same area of the game (Viridian Forest), having similar evolution lines going from larva to chrysalis to adult insect, evolving at the same exact levels, and having nearly identical movesets up until they fully evolve

    Eh, I disagree with the Aerodactyl one.
    The old amber. Most definitely, that very much works.
    Fossil pokemon did not have the more defined pattern of coming in pairs, it is gen one.
    Aerodactyl could have easily existed either as a non fossil, or used some other fosil, maybe its jawbone.
    then with the success of Jurrasic park the fossil item was changed...
    Or maybe ALL three of them were just Pokemon, and the entire fossil revive was added after jurrasic park.

    • @RaighnRPG
      @RaighnRPG ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MastemaJack There are two ways in which fossils are known to form. Petrification and Cavitation...
      Petrification occurs when loose mineral particulates fill in the cavities as organic matter deteriorates. We see this more with bones since the high concentration of calcium and carbon in bones tends to bond with other minerals as it breaks down thus preserving their structure better, combined with the fact that most tissue matter deteriorates too fast for the petrification processes to take place. Cavitation occurs when organic matter completely deteriorates while encased in a mineral layer.
      Cavitation fossils are common with plants and fish who's fossilized remains were trapped in mud or buried in debris from a cataclysmic event.

    Possible Fun fact: Mega Aerodactyl may be based off the giant monster bird from the movie The Giant Claw (1957). In the movie it is stated that what makes the giant bird such a threat (ontop of its massive size) is the fact that it attacks anything that moves. One of Mega Aerodactyl's pokedex entries mentions the same thing, so there maybe a connection there considering the Jurassic Park connection. The movie is on TH-cam so you can watch for yourself and see what I'm talking about.

    Tyranitar's story goes back *further* than 1997; in the development of Gen 1, one of the 40 pokemon scrapped from the game (before Mew was added as the 191st / 151st), there would've been a Godzilla looking pokemon called "Gyaon". *Tyranitar looks like Godzilla.* Think about it...

      Honestly, I think the final evo for Weedle was reworked into what we now have as Ledian instead. The similarities in the design are clearly there. It's really cool to see that it almost wasn't a thing but because of a magazine cover ended up becoming a Pokemon that we all know and love. Rock/Dark type especially back in Gen 2 was just such an interesting type combination and with the 134 base Attack being tied with Dragonite for strongest in the game at that point it was so fun to use.

      If I had to take a wild guess, my gut instinct tells me it would've probably been Suicune. Just think about it a little bit: despite it being a water type, it is referred to as being the north wind, and which is pretty different from what you'd think of, especially given that I think most people associate it more with aurora instead. Additionally, it's the only one of it's trio to have been used as a mascot, so it clearly seems to be favored over Entei and Raikou, and speaking of those two, they are the only legendary Pokemon trio I can think of in which only one is used as a mascot for one of the games. I could be wrong, but it would make sense to me for something like that to have maybe been the original plan given the favoritism Suicune has been given

    A LOT of speculation on your part regarding Aerodactyl there... while Jurassic Park probably did influence Aerodactyl's creation, without any solid evidence other than "the moving came out during mid production, and the old amber revival seems clearly inspired by it" there is no way to know that Aerodactyl wouldn't have still been a thing.

    That story about Porygon sets the cause in the wrong place. Lugia was made possible because movie 1 was a success.
    I'd say that without the Porygon incident, the movie would've been successful anyways because parents would have no worries taking their children to watch Pokemon.
    Now had you told me that "a scene was removed from the movie after porygon insident that was similar to that on the episode", that would be a great way of saying that Porygon made Lugia
