      Legends Arceus doesn't take place in ancient times. Between the cultural aesthetic, the active immigration from other regions, and the technology level (disregarding the Arc Phone), it was most likely the equivalent of the late 1800's, the Meiji Restoration era. Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra probably existed at the same time as their Kalosian brethren, they simply died out before modern times.

    I think Poipole's dex entry is referring to the Ultra Recon Squad choosing it as a partner. It's mentioned throughout the game that Pokémon battling isn't a thing in their world, which is why they needed outside help subduing Necrozma.

    • @lordmonarch2995
      @lordmonarch2995 ปีที่แล้ว +35

    • @jsc1jake512
      @jsc1jake512 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      There's a replacement we can use for Poipole however. It's Necrozma. So Necrozma has like 3 other forms but none of those are actually Necrozma's TRUE form. It could be argued that Ultra Necrozma is, in fact, it's true form but in the dex it says that form is "a new form that even Necrozma had never taken until now." So that kind of leaves a gray area of what Necrozma looked like before it's light leaked out so I mean it's not really a secret pokemon just a secret form that I hope we'll see in a future game sometime.

    • @choueriito2548
      @choueriito2548 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      The term Partner is often used in several pieces of Pokemon media (particularly the Japanese anime) to refer to someone's starter Pokemon or their ace (eg. Ash/Satoshi often referring to Pikachu as his partner and not giving the same title to his others). Even if Pokemon battling wasn't much of a thing in their universe, the dex entry still suggests it's the starter Pokemon for what tasks are often expected of Pokemon there.

    About Corphish: Being originated from another regions doesn't always mean there's a regional variant in place from the get-go. They're definitely invasive species, like Yungoos, but there's no way to indicate if Corphish itself has a different form based on their native region.
    We've had this happen before, where a certain Pokemon is obtained through rare means in a given region and then we discover they're endemic to another one and can be found in the wild, like Lapras, Kangaskhan, Tauros, etc.
    This is most likely the case for the base Corphish.
    Crawdaunt could be the regional variant judging from this. Kind of like an Alolan Marowak situation, where Cubone doesn't change but the evolution suits the new region.
    Of course, we've got yet to see what it comes out of it if anything.

    The interesting thing about Magnezone is in Legends Arceus, it's the only one of its line that spawns outside the distortions. This can lead one to believe that Magnemite and Magneton are a side effect of the existence of Magnezone and environmental changes. It also means evolving it could theoretically be possible BECAUSE it originally didn't evolve from the Pokemon they do now.

    I love the theory that all of the fossil Pokemon are only near approximations of their original forms. The reason they all have rock type is because they are still partially still fossils. I would love to see true forms of them via some sort of time travel mechanic. As Scarlet and Violet seem to be trying to do both past and future, I doubt they will dive too deeply into ancient Pokemon as it would favor Scarlet over Violet.
    Now, if they do another Legends style game, we could see a time rift with new forms of the fossils.

The Paras entry doesn't state "IF" just when. So the real story behind the Paras line is that they're entire species are just doomed to forever sprout mind control mushrooms and die.

    I'm pretty sure the Hisuian Pokédex entry for Parasect "lying motionless" is saying that if you remove the tochukaso mushroom from its back, it goes brain-dead and stops moving.
    Earlier dex entries for Paras say that the spores are scattered on it at birth. The juveniles without the mushrooms probably still have a mycelium network growing through their bodies.

    I don't wanna hunt to see if someone has mentioned this already, but I've always postulated that Paras is a parasitic-mushroom-infected Nincada since both are derived from real-world cicada nymphs. I imagine the "unmoving Parasect" is just the chitinous remains after the mushroom has decomposed.

    The pokedex entry for magnizone can be explained easily by them referencing the next game's generation's gimmick bring mega evolution. We know gamefreak plans these games years in advance so it's not out of the realm of possibility that, they could have originally planed a mega magnizone but ultimately scraped it in development leaving this as the only reference.

    If the alternate universe also has 3 starter Pokémon, with Poipole being one of them, and if they also form a rock-paper-scissors relationship, then we can assume the group consists of a Ground type, a Grass type and Poipole.
    If they are also equal in power level and evolve just once, then we can deduce there is an evolution for these implied Pokémon that may or may not add a secondary type.
    Considering Naganadel's secondary Dragon type also having an advantage over Grass type, then the Grass type's secondary type (if any), might be Water or Ice for the offensive advantage over Ground starter; Bug or Flying for the resistances. Though I think Ice is unlikely because it would give Grass starter an advantage over both other starters and, while that isn't unheard of (Sinnoh starters, for example), I think it's not a good idea.
    The Ground type starter's second type (if any) would be Psychic (offensive advantage); Rock, Steel or Ghost (resistances). We know Naganadel is part Dragon type, so we can also use that to deduce any other type that may be added when taking Naganadel into account. That would add Ice as a possibility.
    The hypothetical starter trio would be:
    1- Naganadel
    2- One of the following:
    Grass
    Grass/Water
    Grass/Ice
    Grass/Bug
    Grass/Flying
    3- One of these:
    Ground
    Ground/Rock
    Ground/Steel
    Ground/Ghost
    Ground/Ice

    My favorite is the stuff pertaining to Drowzee and Musharna line.
    From Drowzee in Stadium and FireRed it states: The drowzee line are descendants of a legendary animal named Baku.
    In addition for Drowzee in Sun: It is considered to share common ancestry with Munna and Musharna.
    So this implies there is a pokemon, named Baku, like the same one from yokai myths, that might have existed long ago.

    • @aliceh5289
      @aliceh5289 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's fascinating, because one of them can float and the other has to walk around. Maybe it's due to the influence they have on dreams? Maybe the Baku Pokemon has different forms depending on what it does with the dreams, switched by an ability or a move like with Aegislash.

    I think the Corphish line and its regional variant parallels invasive species irl, especially with the line about it greatly increasing its population. A lot of invasive species have to change and adapt to new environments they’re brought into, mimicking evolutionary traits of species around it. I’d be curious to check their catch rates to see if similar to irl they overpopulate areas and start killing off native species either by predation or more commonly food competition. Little swamp nerd rant there but it’s an interesting concept to bring up in Pokémon

    For magnezone maybe they were hinting at a possible mega evolution that got scrapped?
    It would also be cool to see “regional variants” of porygon, where you can get different “upgrade” items for it depending on what region you’re in.
    Region exclusive items to evolve or change the forms of Pokémon like rotom and sinistea would be interesting too.

    Since Magikarp is based off a koi that became a dragon I think the stronger version of Magikarp and it's evolution should be dragon type to be a bigger nod to the inspiration to the pair, and maybe have this unseen Magikarp and it's evolution have different colorations if it's found in different areas as a nod to koi fish having so many colorations themselves.

    Just want to drop a comment, I think you mis-interpreted the Parasect Pokedex entry. I think it meant that it was left unmoving because the mushroom was gone (possibly eaten by another Pokémon) and so it stayed there unmoving and dead. Hence giving credence to the idea that the Pokémon is controlled by the mushroom, since without the mushroom it was basically dead. I am also of the opinion that newborn Paras are not born without the mushrooms, but much like in mushroom that are still basically just a spore, the mushrooms haven't grown enough to be visible on the Pokémon, as they haven't broken through the outer shell, and every Paras that is born has thos spores on it.

  • @Pao-vo8mf
    @Pao-vo8mf ปีที่แล้ว +2

    you talked about corpish being the first regional form as it is imported from another region, but I'd like to add two things: the first is that it may not have changed form after being imported, and the second is that this has likely happened before. in gen 1, there are pokémon that can only be found in the safari zone and nowhere else. this indicates that those pokemon are not originally from kanto, and were brought over and kept in a nature preserve, to not disrupt kanto's ecology -- like they do in real life zoos. so those may very well be the first regional forms, or at least the first pokémon that were introduced in a region that's not their original region, just like corpish. pinsir is a pokémon that gives credit to this theory, since it's based on a real life bug that lives in deserts and there are no deserts in kanto. scyther, in its turn, exists in hisui and has a different evolution, so we can assume that's its original region.
