At the start of the year, I committed to a move to Hobart and to study at UTAS. I must admit it's been an incredibly challenging transition, coming from Melbourne. I have been very disappointed with the empty promises of UTAS and the delivery of education. Seemingly the transition to the city, is impacting the university experience. Did/does Flinders feel vibrant? I'm very interested in their Geospatial program. Though new, it feels like a University that is engaged with their students and wants to see them thrive, with support and learning. Whom would I contact to get clarity on the teaching/learning environment. Online study I find, is very difficult for me at 38.
Hi! Good on you for taking a risk and moving away for studies. I respect that. I guess it depends what you mean by "vibrant". Flinders is a very pretty campus a outside the centre of Adelaide. During the week it is busy enough, but late in the afternoons (and late in the week) it gets quiet like lots of outer metropolitan uni campuses. It's a very good university. I've got a video coming up on the Pros and Cons of Flinders, which you might find helpful, so stay posted!
Do you think doing a bussiness course is ideal and is the Flinders university good for the bussiness course? And do you think international students feel comfortable and can easily make friends at the university?
Hi from Sweden! This is one of the good options i got for studying abroad. Im currently studying sport management in Sweden atm and if anyone got any input of how you like this university, the city or anything really I’d be greatful!
Adelaide’s really nice it’s alot calmer than Melbourne which can be a bit overwhelming at times it gives you more of a proper Aussie experience and doesn’t feel like a massive city that overwhelms you. The uni is also really nice with a nice campus I enjoy it a lot.
Who said Flinders University ranking is lower than the University of South Australia? Many organizations that rank higher education institutions including THE and ARWU stated that the rank of Flinders University is higher than the University of South Australia. 😊😊😊
Knowing about the campus, rankings and support is good and all, but what about the courses themselves? Do you know what Flinders’s teaching method is like? I’ve heard that they’re more hands on than say Uni SA, is there any truth to this? My main concern is the content and teaching methods of a university. The other benefits aren’t that much of a priority to me.
That’s a really good and very specific question. If I were you I’d try contacting the Teaching and Learning section of the uni and putting that question to them - they’ll be able to provide a specific answer.
Hi! Came across your blogs while deciding whether to go to Flinders or UniSA for an MBA. Do you have insights on the strengths and weaknesses of each institution? Thank you so much. :)
UniSA would be my personal choice on that. The business school is double accredited and it has excellent researchers on marketing and brand (my interests in the business space). Flinders also has some areas of strength so it’s worth considering what your specific interests are and how they align.

Good day! I know that it's been years since you uploaded this video, therefore so many things might have changed by now. Although it has lower rankings compared to UniSA and UoA, in ComparEd, Flinders Uni has much better reviews than the other two universities. Should I apply based on that? I hope you can give your unbiased opinion and advise on this matter.
There is plenty of teaching work everywhere in Australia right now. Where are you reading the reviews? Teaching is a regulated course with very specific outcomes required for accreditation, so there will be a lot of similarities between the content of the courses at each of those universities.

Remember that people are always WAY more likely to write a review if they’ve had a negative experience than a positive one. So a negative review doesn’t necessarily represent the average views of a cohort.
With both positive and negative reviews it’s ways important to try to see where they align with your interests and to think about the biases of the authors (including me!)
I wouldn’t overthink it too much. Start the program that looks best aligned to you. If you get there and it sucks shit, you can always change to another uni or program. You’ve got plenty of time (unless you’re 80 years old…. Which I’m assuming you’re not 🤣)
Nothing against 80 year olds.
I though UoA had grad medicine too but it’s been awhile since I had a close look so I could certainly be wrong on that.
Hi Isis😊
Did you ever join up for Nutrition and Dietetics? How is flinders so far.
what do you think about their entertainment design course? :)
I don't know if specifically but it sounds like a topic that will be important in future!
I felt this vlog was slightly biased, just be careful that you're keeping it unbiased as I caught you slipping up a couple of time back there.
How so?
I’ve never studied at Flinders, have never worked at Flinders (or done commissioned work for them). They’re not a partner of any organisation I run. So I have no affiliation or interest in the organisation.
I am going to apply for my M.Sc. in Engineering Management at Flinders and uni of South Australia next week. Is my course good enough for pursuing a good career in Australia? And which uni should I prefer for that between the two?
Excellent unis for engineering. On the management side of things, I think UniSA has the stronger business program so depends what your end goal is.
people keep asking him about the courses like he studied there ahah.
No, they keep asking because I’m one of the few people that’s visited every uni in the country so kinda know what I’m talking about! 🤣
A Life That Travels thats true
I want to do master’s in biotechnology in this university. Is it worth to do masters here
Yep, biotech is good and the new-ish engineering and technology campus is pretty awesome
And which campus of flinders biotechnology is studied?
