    One of the other benefits of Griffith is that it's THE university on the Gold Coast. Yes, there is Bond, but it is private and expensive, and if you want to be part of a university environment where most of the city's student life is centered it's great. It is more difficult for mid-tier unis in bigger cities that compete with top-tier universities to establish a similar sensation of representing the city's student base.

    Great video! I am studying at Swinburne and have completed an exchange in the US. Looking to transfer somewhere outside the three major cities(Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney) to study Government and International Relations / Media Communication. I am considering Griffith, Notra Dame, University of Adelaide and Canberra. Can you discuss their strengths and weaknesses?

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Govt and IR are great at the ANU. Media is also good there and at UC. Griffith is a good all round choice especially since it has a great Asian focus (critical in media, IR and Govt!)
      Adelaide has been pretty smashed up by Covid. They’ve got an excellent new vice chancellor but he hasn’t been there long so I think it’s going to take some time for the uni to really find its feet again. Notre Dame has the equal highest student satisfaction in the country. Not sure how they do in these discipline areas but the uni certainly creates a good positive learning environment 👍

    Hi Rob! I‘ve decided to do an exchange semester on the Gold Coast, but I‘m still not sure if I should choose Bond University or Griffith! I‘m looking for great student life, meet new friends (international & local), have an overall great experience - academics is important as well but it‘s not my main criteria..
    what would be your recommendation then & why? thanks so much!

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Anna,
      Two great universities and both have a lot to offer exchange and study abroad students. Bond is a smaller campus with excellent facilities. Class sizes are smaller, so in theory you should have better connections with other students and teachers. The flip side is that Bond has a much higher % of international students - it's about 40% international students compared with about 17% at Griffith. This means at Griffith you're more likely (depending on the subject area) to be in class with local Australian students. Griffith is more accessible by public transport, with the light rail running right from the beaches to the campus. Facilities are in better condition at Bond (not that Griffith is bad in this regard, though). Griffith will have more students on campus for more of the day.
      Having written all this out, I personally would lean towards Griffith unless there was a subject area at Bond that was ridiculously strong. But that's just my opinion.

      Public health is a good discipline to study right now. There’s a lot of work everywhere. All these unis are strong in their own ways and at Masters level I believe you really need to look at the detail of what specialisations are available and how they align with your interests.

      That's interesting. What degree are you looking at doing? I'd be interested to look into the detail.

      But As an international student
      Deakin offers 2+2 years where as Griffith being Regional offers 2+3 years. How crucial do you think that would be?

    Hi do you have plans on visiting Jcu townsville?

      Definitely the next time I’m there! I’ve visited before - I like the city and the campus has improved a lot with new buildings. It’s a nice part of Queensland. What would you study there?

      @@ChoosingYourUni I would like to study medicine but in Perth, I would just like to see the facilities of JCU coz I'm pretty curious since I've read a lot of good feedbacks about it. I'll definitely wait for your visit there here in your channel! 😊 God bless always Mr. Rob! 😊

    Just planning to begin my undergraduate this july at this campus. Can I get a part time job while staying there for 3 years?

      The Gold Coast has many businesses. Unless the Coronavirus thing is still impacting things finding a casual job shouldn’t be too hard.

      If you work hard, it’s easy to study anywhere 😉
      Plenty of work on the Gold Coast at the moment.

    Hi Rob. I am an international student and just got selected in Griffith University for Master of Interactive Media. How do I get to know through the website about my course there? Thanks for the video, the campus seems really nice.

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congrats Rahul. Great uni and that’s a very good degree for getting work in future!
      What exactly do you need to know through the website?
      Courses? Syllabi?

    • @rahulpillai6474

      Hi again Rob. Thank you for the wishes. @4:16 You mentioned in the video about a website called Qilt.edu.au that gives a detailed review about a particular course of that university and I went to the website and found only the surveys of previous years. I would want to know about previous student experiences for the particular course over there

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the QILT data is now on a site called "Compared.edu.au".
      That data set isn't updated immediately each year - it usually takes them some months to finish the surveys and present the data.
      It also doesn't get down to degree level - it is at discipline level and degree-level. So in your case you'd probably go looking for postgraduate communications results from Griffith (or something like that).
      Let me know how you go!

      Both great unis - two great business programs. Gold Coast and Perth are different cities but both nice sizes and very liveable.

    Hi Rob, I'm planning to study business master degree there . Do you think Griffith is great at it? I want study in "regional" area.

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I really like Griffith. Not sure if it qualifies as regional (make sure you double check) but the Gold Coast campus has heaps going for it.

    I'm there but the campus is way too big, too far to walk, lol. Most of my classes aren't even in the business school. I have some classes in the multimedia rooms and some in the science department.....weird, 🤨😕🤔😁

    I NEED HELP: If I’m interested in media (interactive and visual), games, animation, is GU the best? Or is RMIT or QUT better? (Or any others)
    I want to know more about the teachers, course, future career path and real truthful review! Thanks!

      Griffith, RMIT, QUT, Swinburne and UTS would all be worth looking at imo
