    Him calling the cops on them was him showing a sing of embracing change, Richie cant always placate these people who bring harm to the neighborhood, he's decided that enoughs enough and that calling the police was necessary

      @@Okkotsu86275 Jon Bernthal. The actor you're praising. He went blue lives matter, in the thick of the BLM movement, which one can call tone deaf at least. Then there was that whole rehabilitation tour he did for Shia leBouf's image after he abused the hell out of his ex gf. Re traumatizing her. Of course his fans ate it up. Being a good actor doesn't make one a decent person.

    Yeah, you didnt get the cops part. He did a good thing, he was going to let them hang outside (which is obviously a bad thing) but insteed he called the cops. I dont see why you guys thought calling the cops on the restaurant even would be a bad thing.

    The calling the cops was definitely to show Richie embracing change. I don't see how it could be seen as a negative.

      @go_golden หลายเดือนก่อน +25

      disagree, I see it as him being jealous of Sydney defusing things peacefully and in her own way, he's feeling left behind, obsolete. He relishes being needed and in control, as in "Matei" last episode.

    • @fullmetalb5241
      @fullmetalb5241 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

      Completely agree. This is only the second time I've seen it taken as a negative. Cause it absolutely wasn't. Especially it happening right after his talk with Tina. Makes it pretty obvious and I'd say pretty undeniable true that it was a positive thing.

    • @go_golden
      @go_golden หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@fullmetalb5241 the thing is, he's not on the same page as Tina. She's on board with Sydney and change, he' not; he still chooses violence and intimidation to solve problems.

      @@go_golden There is literally nothing to suggest that at all.
      - The entire episode he talks about not wanting the neighbourhood to change.
      - The guy even mentions calling the cops on him, and Richie is insulted he'd even think of him that way.
      - He then gets confronted by Tina, and the literal next scene is him doing something he said he'd never do.

    I think people who usually watch a lot of heightened drama/action shows, and then start The Bear think that it’s going to fall into those same traps. Richie calling the cops to try and set up Sydney is an example. There are still some heightened and tense moments but they’re more character focused all a little more grounded in realism than your Better Call Sauls and shows like that. The way people talk to each other and the choices they make on this show just feel so damn real and I think that makes it more impactful sometimes.

    Richie called the cops 100% because he feels left behind. He never called the cops on the guys before because he felt that was part of his role at the restaurant, in the community, in his life; but now that Sydney has usurped his role and peacefully at that, he's lost another thing that gave him meaning. Him calling the the cops is him leaving the playground and taking his ball with him. He feels useless.

    • @YourBlackLocal
      @YourBlackLocal หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      This only makes sense if you believe Sydney actually changed things with sandwiches. They didn't address the actual shooting at all.
      Sydney giving sandwiches just showed him that he can solve problems a different way, which he then went on to do.

      @bornjett หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@YourBlackLocal I think everything about how Richie is depicted in the first season shows he is reticent to change. From the very first episode , he's established as violently against change in any way.
      That's how I see it anyway. It's interesting to see such a different read of this episode. I had never considered this perspective.

      @@bornjett Season 1 to Season 2 shows Richie constantly changing and growing. He's got the best character arc in the show. This wasn't how you describe as some oh I lost so I'm not playing anymore moment. It was a moment of hey these guys are kind of a problem and they're gonna continue to be a problem so it's time to maybe fix that problem. It's him taking some form of initiative and doing something that whilst he feels is a core part to the vibe realises it's not actually good for them to be around and decides to make a change. It's one of the first true glimpses of him finding purpose.

    Yeah, Richie's feels left behind and out because of Sydney's success, so I'm guessing he called the law on the gangsters to make himself feel better. Richie is a very frustrating character, very up and down.

    • @YourBlackLocal
      @YourBlackLocal หลายเดือนก่อน +15

      How do you get that from that scene? He's calling the cops because he's embracing the change. He knew they were going to cause problems eventually so he decided to get rid of them.

    • @Okkotsu86275
      @Okkotsu86275 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @YourBlackLocal When I looked up the episode, it was implied that Ritchie called the cops out of a sense of jealousy. What you're saying can also be true

    • @YourBlackLocal
      @YourBlackLocal หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      @@Okkotsu86275 It wasn't implied at all. It's pretty obvious since the scene before it is literally Tina confronting him on letting go, and letting things get better.
      Do people think Sydney giving sandwiches was going to actually stop shootouts?

      @fullmetalb5241 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @Okkotsu86275 That is Wikipedia nonsense written by people who didn't take 2 seconds to think about it first. Sydney did not just swoop in and fix everything with a sandwich. The juxtaposition of how Richie handled them at the beginning and now at the end calling the cops (the right thing to have done) shows that he is starting to take what Tina said to heart. It's not a negative and never has been.
