Aemond doesn't really even need to hide what he did. There's nothing anyone can do. You literally can't touch him. If you somehow killed Aemond, the Greens would be done. Without Aemond they have no defense. Aemond can say or do whatever he wants...especially now.
Power of the only dragon rider left. Even before his was the biggest dragon.
"Do not mourn me mother. I may have lost an eye but I gained a dragon" ~~ Aemond Targaryen.
Didn't know it would mean this much later on in the show.
Well that's what makes the story kind of weird / weak given the Greens have only one dragon rider left (Helaena is an unlikely combatant), two healthy dragons Vhagar and Dreamfyre and another unclaimed dragon that flies near Kings Landing. Whereas Raynera has lots of riders (including Corlys illegitimate sons) and Targaryen relatives that can ride plus she has the big dragons Syrax, Caraxes, Seasmoke, Silverwing and the gigantic Vermithor. There are also the wild dragons Greyghost, Sheepstealer and the biggest and deadliest dragon of all the Cannibal. It was rumored we get to see a scene of someone coaxing Sheepstealer and then suddenly the flying monster the Cannibal shows up. That better happen. Anyway the Greens have absolutely no chance this is like our airforce against the Japanese or Germans at the end of WW2. Why are they even fighting?

@@snappingbear But Corlys is not a Targeryan right ?
I like how they really played with sound effects this season, the muffled sounds during Daemon's hallucinations, and when Alicent was seething with rage at the council table.
thought my airpods were fucking up during the daemon part
Another clever but subtle atmospheric touch. Brilliantly done.
also in the library of Dragonstone, you always hear sort of like muffled dragon sounds.
Jace is the MVP he took upon his duty as prince and got easy access through the Riverlands and he gave Rhyanera the idea of dragon riders in other families throughout Westeros Jace is MVP
It’s LAUGHABLE to me that Alicent thought that the same people who didn’t want a woman to rule would say she could do it even temporarily 😂
Alicent isn't even a Targaryen and has no possible claim to even be acting Queen. She was only able to do so during Viserys's reign because she was actively married to the king. She's not part of the royal succession in any way, shape, or form. If anything, Helaena could step in, since she's the actual queen. Alicent, at best, can be a council member, but not the queen
More so that Alicent even wanted it. She's not fully committed to their cause and everyone knows it. Plus she has a grand total of 0 battle victories while Aemond has already been battle tested
@@edward-jamesgardner776 Yes, exactly. Legally the only potential regents would be Aemond or Helaena and they're at war so ofc the council is gonna want Aemond
@@MrFredsttor Criston himself, it's not unknown for a hand to be a stand in for the king until he comes back to health
@@user-op6kt8pg9y True that could've been an option. We can all agree though that Alicent had 0 claim to being regent
You can see that Cole expected ppl to cheer when he paraded Meleys' head but instead there were whispers of displeasure. No Targaryen can disrespect a dragon like that. It's obviously Cole's stupid plan to show strength but instead he has mortolized the dragons in the eyes of the small folk. Now the fear aspect they had of dragons is slowly deteriorating. "I thought the dragons were gods" "It's just meat" Those two statements show the shift in mindset
Lol,WhoSaidTargaryanDont disrespectDragons, andAemondMakesPlans
How do not include one of Aemon's first commands as Regent to finally cut down those fucking rat catchers? So subtle but shows his distain for his brother's decisions.
That was a good thing, I wonder what he'll do for the people. If he's actually better than Aegon. Aemond might be feared by the people closest to him because he can't be played around and controlled like Aegon. Even Larys wasn't being a smartass around him at the meeting like he usually is with the others.
@@user-dx2dm8oq8g Aemond is the same as Daemon they don't care for working with the people. They'd be cool tyrants for us but not so great rulers as seen what Aemond did closing the gates to the city with his people starving and Daemon making the same mistakes and giving vague orders and leaving important things in the hands of the not so wise
His first command was to close the gates of King's Landing to trap the common folk in, so they can't spread out and tell others about the terrible condition of the people.
And he is a tyrant like Daemon doesn't caring about smallfolk. Aegon did care for them, atleast to be liked but his emotions took over.
@@Ryuu44 true, he'd be the type to burn everything in king's landing except for the throne. Even his mom seems scared of him now, his step dad criston is also shook, losing his composure at council meetings and avoiding the topic.
Aemond: “Look at me, I’m the shogun now.”
When things are not going well in the economy, it's not hard to convince the masses that the problem lies with the current leaders and present yourself as the savior. It happens in today's politics.
Best part is when the economy is going well, morons won't bother reading enough to know better.
They will just believe what dear leader feeds them. Reading is hard.
*Criston being as honest & genuine as possible about why he chose aemond

I really like the detail of making Dyanna (the servant SA'd in S1) an agent for Myseria, that makes so much sense.
I feel like such a moron for not even realizing that was the same girl omg
and she works in that brothel where the bastard dude is probably always talking about his lineage to get drinks, which she might overhear and relay to Mysaria.
@@jaysax7381 She was in the episode prior as well, one of the men in the pub smacked her on the butt after she brought them drinks. Sad to see her getting violated after Aegon already did the damage he did.
@@mekelarje yeah it's sad. It just shows how the smallfolk are struggling. She probably couldn't afford to leave King's Landing. So it was probably the tavern or the brothel for her.

23:38 The witch entered Daemon's mind in the form of his mother but he could not recognize her. Hence she said, "You never knew your mother ".
Alys is playing 3 dimensional chess with Daemon's mind.
Yeah. Daemon's mother died when he was three years old. So is very likely that he doesn't know how she looked.
@@gerardolopez6851 exactly
Jace isn't trying to "make his mark on the world".. He's literally just trying to help his mother lol
I love how Cole now understand what a war with dragons means.
He thought it will be easy, but it's a nuke with wings, and both sides will lose ALOT of people.
They understand when Rhaenyra wants to act, but they don’t get it when Aegon wants to act???
Well aegon alwasys deserve the worse.😊
right!?? hypocrites
That's the entire general audience. Aegon or the greens do something = evil or dumb. Rhaenyra or the blacks do the same thing or something similar = good, smart, and righteous
Everything the Greens do (evil/bad/stupid) but everything the black do is smart great good
They understood Aegon’s desire to act, but what they didn’t understand is he acting on the desire. They even acknowledged that Aegon was more pushed by the way Alicent told him to do nothing.
Rhanaerya even as much how much she desired to act, didn’t do so, because she knows the risks, while Aegon wasn’t thinking about the risks.
The push-in on Alicent at the council meeting is fantastic. You can see the emotions on her face. I think she realizes that she has zero control over what's going to happen now. She put something in motion, based on a misunderstanding as she knows now, that she cannot stop. Brilliant scene.
Aegon looks like Anakin after his fight against Obi Wan.
Well i guess having the same high ground wasnt enough for him

At least Aegon still has all his limbs.
"Aegon The Crisp" aka #crispyTargaryen
29:36
Something that made me laugh.. Jace starts walking away then comes back, only for Rhaenyra to walk away 😂
It's so telling of even current times: poor Alicent slept with one guy and showed her feet to the other and they still weren't loyal to her.
AlicentSleptFor herself,WasSheLoyalTO cole.
honestly prince jaeharys was so smart for that one. i loved that scene. finally someone who brings ideas that will help their cause
The scene where the Lord of Harrenhall wakes Daemon in the night is a dream.
It’s showing him what COULD happen if he doesn’t have empathy for the small folk, it’s EXACTLY what Alys said in the scene where she’s bandaging Daemon’s hand.
The lords that confront Daemon are a vision.
They 1 wouldn’t speak to Daemon like that in the middle of the night.
2 they would not know anything about the specific details about Blood & Cheese or that Daemon had anything to do with it
3 the woman at the end tells him they do not want to be ruled by a tyrant and maybe Daemon will want to change that perception.
That. Meeting. Was. A. Dream.
Nah the Cole hate when he was making a logical point to Alicent is crazy hating. 😂meanwhile your precious Targaryen team banner man were doing what to women and children this episode?💀Make it make sense cause so far Cole is the only one thinking straight when he’s most likely still concussed from going unconscious in the middle of a straight up dragon war.
Condal basically ignored melys and rhaenys killing hundreds of people. BUT THE RATCATCHERS
This is when Game Of Thrones and House Of The Dragon are at their best and most addictive for me, not from movie quality fight scenes, but from plans being made, from alliances being forged or broken, from the pieces being moved on the game board.
Not going to lie, it's really the Daemon hallucination arc that's dragging the rest of the episode.
I think that's because once he eventually returns it's really on for real. Filler to prolong the show. I'm ok with it, but think that's what it is. Really only one question remains, which I won't mention here as my opinion.
Yep. And also team black council is always snoozefest unlike the greens. Hopefully the blacks step up next episode cus they're so boring rn except maybe Baela and Jace.
@@AegonJaegernot gonna lie jace was the only enjoyable character from blacks this episode 😂😂, that kid is really growing on me
Only Jace was enjoyable honestly
Oh no, we're actually exploring the interesting dynamics at play in the Riverlands thata re really important to the Dance of the Dragons. How terrible that must be...LOL. Do you even know what kind of show this is?
Rhaenyra keeps saying they had a lifetime of peace under her father like they didn't have multiple wars in the StepStones. Sea Snake disappeared for 6yrs in season 1 to go fight & he was her father in law 😂 As a matter of fact, she had 2 husbands that fought in those wars lol
i hate how people think that alicent put criston in his place by telling him she didn’t give her permission for him to say her name. i guess people forget criston is actually above her in the hierarchy now as hand of the king, but i thought they made that pretty clear whenever the council gave criston the final say on who gets to be regent because, and i quote: “the hand speaks with the king’s voice.”
that doesnt matter, hand or not. Even a king uses the formal title when talking to a lady/a lord.
She's the dowager queen and will still be addressed to as 'Your Grace'. How does the Hand of the King surpass her in hierarchy?
HOTD is a 'Proper' show. Proper writing, proper dialogue, proper lighting, proper direction, proper production, proper photography, proper sound & design, etc. Every scene and dialogue is there for a reason. Everything has a proper time and place. There is hardly anything unintentional. The show runners are some of the best in the business,
This show doesn’t hold a candle to the earlier seasons of GoT and the writing could be MUCH better.

You're wrong about Jace. He's the most deserving and suitable of all the heirs. He would have made a good king.
Hes the one who took most of the strategic decisions, got multiple houses to support his mother. It's sad that he died at 14. And he's doing all this for her- keep in mind that he's doing this after standing on the sidelines for ages. He even defended his mom against daemon in s1. He's always just followed her orders, but now he has to act especially because Rhaenys is dead and Daemon is away
People complain about spectacle, and say they want the political intrigue and conversations. Then say they'd skip the episode full of that to get to the exciting stuff. People just love to complain. This isn't a top 5 episode when it comes to excitement by any stretch, but it was such an important episode. I would never skip over all this time we got with these characters. Chill, more excitement is still to come.
Just like you complain about people complaining
@@Abdo-mx4pband you just commenting just to be commenting..you go next...
i tend to love slower episodes (ep2 of this season is my favorite episode of the whole show with Driftmark) but this episode suffers bc of the episodes that came before, espacially on the black side of the story. Every team black council goes the same way: rhaenyra feels undermined for 5 episodes now, complains about not having been taught about warfare and then says her father wanted her to rule. Its ok for 1/2 episodes, but we're past the midseason and their story is still on the same page. The greens councils on the other side have more debate, more vigor and characters with different reasonings.
So its not a well liked episode, not bc its slow, but bc its repetitive. The writers have put the tb characters in a cage and they dont allow them to make morally questionnable decisions (except for Daemon, who is carrying tb on his back rn) so their scences feel dull.
I think Mysaria will be the inroad to find the potential dragonriders within kings landing that Rheanyra finds in the scrolls.
That may well be the case.
The guy with silver hair and the sick child seems like a Targaryn
@@shovon9412or Valyrian at least
I have the crazy feeling that the blacksmith is a Targaryan. That would explain, why they have focused so much on him and his family. After the conversation between Jace and Rheanyra I Just now realized, that he has this Targaryan hair and hair-do.

When they said Vermithor and Silverwing, I thought of the dude at the bar, AND Hugh…the guy with the sick daughter and wife….take a look at his hair lol. Hugh has been the focus a few times and it’s gotta be for something.
I admit Daemon eating out his mom was not on my bingo card this season..
Let it lie in the past and never mention it again. Even reading the words is a killer 😂
lol every time! Every single time I forget and think, “aw, Achara is such a kind gentle soul” then bam! “Aw dang I was looking forward to watching some people burn!!” lol. How does she disarm us like that? Every time.😂 lmao. Great reaction!
Every character put on screen is significant. At first, I was confused why the blacksmith guy and his dying daughter kept showing up but it clicked that he’s probably a Targaryen. Then the next line of thinking is to assume he’s going to be a dragonrider. 😅
The same goes for the Targaryen in the bar.
Both characters will be used to advance the story with dragons and war
Of course he will ride vermithor and will have the crazy arc in the future
Lmao def no on the blacksmith... He's just our window into the lives of the people. His life updates are showing us what's going on in King's landing
Yeah that guy is Hugh and sides for the green
That blonde hair is hard to miss!
Cole has PTSD =Post Traumatic Seeing Dragons 😂😂😂
ive noticed that a lot of people have been complaining about the slow episodes which is surprising to me because those are usually my favorite because they can’t convince you with great spectacle and action so there’s more emphasis on dialogue, character development and just writing in general and there’s so much detail in the writing. even Game of Thrones didn’t really have great action every single episode, season 4 of GOT is considered the best season of the show and there’s not really much action in that season so i feel like people have grown impatient or something.
21:00 You guys forget, Jace already made deals with the Vale (Jeyne Arryn for a dragon) and the North (made a friendship with Cregan Stark). The show didnt include it but in the book, he also went and made deals with White Harbor and Sisterton. Rhaenyra backed all his deals.
I'm guessing Aemond likes a fried Aeg as part of his breakfast.
Good one
Aegon dragon also like fried things
@@HinderBerg-xi8pc dont ruin the joke
Daemon can only be a tyrant, he's unable to talk to people like they're equals or persuade them to join him without threatening them with his dragon. I think that he realizes that he's lacking in diplomacy and ingenuity. Jace is a child and he's better than him at negociating and rallying people. Mysaria might try to get the people to revolt by spreading propaganda or having rebel groups form in King's Landing. She's right, now that the people see that dragons can be killed, they'll try go after them to put an end to this war themselves.
These weren't the first dragons to be killed in Westeros. There was already a dragon war during Maegor's rule and he killed Aegon the II and his dragon.

I completely agree with the idea that Alys is trying to change Daemon's heart. Also, she isnt GIVING him these visions, but is inducing his suppressed thoughts to come to the surface so that he can confront them.
I believe she is also learning these things about Daemon WITH Daemon.

Well ofc. In the books most of the evil orders and acts comes from Rhaenyra whereas Daemon is usually the one cautioning her. But the show is clearly going for the feminist angle so instead of blackening Rhaenyra's character they give all the character flaws to Daemon
Daemon is still interesting but they definitely wanna portray rhaenyra in a LOT better light. They even went so far as to cut nettles
Daemon is just high on Malana Stuff and chilling in an Airbnd.
Most people to a dead dragon head:
😮😰😭
Achara:
CAN WE EAT IT
1). Eating the dragon head never crossed my mind. It’s an interesting take, but no.
2) I don’t understand the concern about getting things done without Rhaenyas’s consent. She complains about not doing anything and yet she doesn’t do anything. She sent the hand to Corles and sent a message to Daemon…Is this whole season going to be her hoping for allies when that’s where last season left off?
3). Alicent is so obnoxious. She has spent all season yelling at Aegon for being impulsive and foolish and now that Aemon has a chance to step up it’s such a tragedy for her?
Rhaenyra's advantage are the dragons that live on dragonstone because the vows and supposed allies she hoped she had didn't really think her sitting the throne was worth dying for. That's also how it goes in the book. Rhaenyra is at a severe disadvantage when it comes to armies and Houses but she has more dragons than the Greens and there are riderless dragons on Dragonstone that could still be claimed.
Alicent being worried about Aemond is because he's killed his family (Luke) before so he's a kinslayer in the eyes of the rest of the realm, the worst kind of person one can be in Westeros. That reputation now leads her to think that he might at least in part be responsible for Aegon's condition and she wonders what it would mean for the realm if a man like Aemond were in charge. It's like entrusting your future to Ramsay Snow...you just don't do it, see?
What my guy 💀
Difference between Aemond and Daemon is loyalty. Daemon is fiercely loyal and he would never attack his brother.
Also, fun fact: when you take the "d" from the beginning of Daemon's name and put it at the end,...
I think Alys Rivers works for Aemond. Thats why she wasnt pleased that Daemon talked trash about him
I wouldn't skip this episode but I wouldn't watch it by itself. It's not a bad episode but It doesn't stand on its own as a satisfying episode. Also, Daemon didn't do what Aemond did because Daemon's brother wasn't a jerk.
And visarys and Daemon werrent under the same pressure that Aemond and Aegon are. Visarys and Daemon weren't tested, the weren't going through a war of this magnitude
I'm liking it more on rewatches
More like he didn't have the golden opportunity to do it and get away with it like Aemond did otherwise Daemon 100% would have
Episodes like this are what made GoT so good back in the day, people aren't teleporting around (Unless of course on Dragon back), the politics/drama/chess pieces being moved.. I'm glad they don't feel the need to add a big action set piece per episode.
The difference between Rhaenyra and Aegon is clearly shown here, while after becoming a King, Aegon does whatever he wants, here rhaenyra says “I am the sovereign now, which means I cannot do what I want”
The fact Alicent thought she should be regent when 1. Aemond has actually won battles and she has not and they are at war so a general makes more sense and 2. She's not even fully committed to her side
Sara Hess is destroying Daemon's story arc, all because fans like him and she doesn't...and that's irking her. Very unprofessional on her part. No wonder GRRM had to issue that statement without naming anyone. Shame, really!
Alicent is surprised that they did not choose her, a woman, when being a woman is how they stole the crown from Rhaenrya.
When being a woman is why Rhaenys didn't gain the crown.
And, now, they turn away from her.
They should make the women who has never lived outside castle walls leader during a war
A darkly atmospheric and brooding episode. Critics who say that this kind of story is "slow" compared to GoT perhaps don't realise that the circumstances and characters are very different, not prepared to act so haughtily because of decades of peace that went before. There is also the thought that (as has already been said by characters in the series) that to fight a war with dragons on both sides - unlike Daenerys who was the only queen of dragons - invites annihilation on both sides.
Alys is manipulating Daemon...is that so difficult to understand? Its not him - at least not completely...she using magic to make him feel insecure, hate himself and weaken him. That is why hes making these terrible decisions. The real D would never let Blackwood walk over him and would def have made sure he would follow his instructions
Well, to be honest, there are not to many options for a Regent on the Green side: Otto, but Aegon kicked him out. Alicent, but queens are not favored as Regents, particularly dowager queens. Ser Criston, as Aegon's Hand, but he'd be terrible, having zero political experience. Traditionally, it's another Targaryen, that leaves either Aemond, younger brother Daeron (about 15 years old) in Oldtown, or appoint Grand Maester Orwyle. Considering that Aemond rides the greatest of the Targaryen dragons and has demonstrated some intelligence (and no one other than Ser Crispy knows that he tried to kill his brother/king) and considerable initiative, he is the most logical choice, but only because war is upon them. (Otherwise, Alicent would make a good Regent). Of course, what seems to be the most logical choice may not prove so in the long run...
None of them have any claims though. The only ones with actual claims would be Aemond and Helaena
Daemon flopping while Criston succeding 😂
I'm finding the moments rhaenyra is moving forward on the chess board are when her insiders are coming up with out of the box ideas. using the anger of the citizens of kings landing is a good idea
1:40
Thats Hugh Hammer, he will be Vermithor's new rider in the next episodes.
Hes a Targaryen Bastard(Dragonseed), thats why he has blonde hair and thats why Vermithor accepted him as its new rider.
i think the new guy we see with the white-ish hair is a targaryen, but not a pure blood like they were talking about at the end
Блэкфаер)
Wait and see.
@@Regenmacher175 obviously, it aint like i could watch the next episode already
Criston : Describes word for word what he saw
reactor : Maybe he's in denial about what he saw
😂😂😂cole is just hated for the sake of hating😂😂😂
I personally like him for me he is right up there with aemond & daemon as one of my favourite characters
@@klaus3021 LOL, 😂😂 Cole up there with Aemond and Daemon??? May be you also think Zack Snyder is as good as Kubrick, Tarkovsky and David Lean!😂
@@anoushkas8726 Had you spent more time learning english you wouldn't have made a mockery of yourself, go and read my comment again, I won't engage in a discussion with somebody who wasn't even able to understand a basic sentence, read my comment again and again and reply only after you understand what I wrote!!!
@@klaus3021 Cole is a hypocrite and a petty douchebag. It's his anger that stems from his self-pity that's also really offputting. Plus, his sexism and his butish nature. He's killed a member of the Small Council for objecting to a coup...
@@anoushkas8726 Honestly Cole isnt nearly as bad as community hate him. Sure, they ruined him with alicole scenes but after he left KL he's one of the better characters this season. Ofc he's not carrying like aegon but still decent
So Jace should not have gone to raise army for Rhaenyra that she currently does not have?
House Black and House Green are both starting to unravel. Rhaenyra and Alicent both angry about not having enough power. Psycho Aemond has become a far bigger problem than Sir Criston now. And Daemon is having hallucinations in Harrenhal Castle, along with the Riverlands wanting his blood.
i MISS EVE/ Rhaenys soooo mcuh!!!
I have never felt as bad for a character in this show as I have for Lord Corlys Velaryon. His his daughter, his son (who may as well be dead), his brother, and now his beloved wife.
Steve Toussaint better get a damn Emmy or BAFTA nomination for this show!
I like seeing Mysaria and Rhanerya working together. Mysaria had the chance to leave all this behind, but then she stayed and realized that Rhanerya could be the queen that thinks about the people.
Varys was the master of whisperers in GOT and I would say Mysaria is a lot like him. She cares about the people and wants to see a ruler that will think about the people and not just those with titles.
While Larys Strong seems to want to back who he thinks is more in power at the moment. He doesn't seem to care much for his people at all. He basically has left them in a shithole.
Going into this episode I was 50/50 on whether or not the show was finally gonna let Jace(my third favorite team black member) cook in this war !!!! Finally now we can see him display his leadership, the way he does in the book. Unleashed the the 🐉 SEEDS !!!!😈
If Alys Rivers is indeed a barn owl, she cares about the land and the people in it. 😄
Great reaction and an interesting episode!!!!
never make achara a ruler of a kingdom. lol. she is kinda like alicent imo, well idk, but i would be scared of her as ruler…. lol
You'd think that two people who knows the in and out of the industry, has friends in it,claims to know about filmmaking and shows would understand that just because its not all action doesn't mean that its not important or a waste.its like you cant understand subtle things and have to be handheld on characters introduced in little ways. Its not dragging the show down its explaining the actors justifications and actions without beating you over the head with information just giving you enough to see that some minor characters will play great importance later.
Harrenhal is exposing the blood on his hands and the vulnerabilities he thought were hidden. He's unraveling.
Daemon's hands
I dont get how Jaby doesn't understand what mysaria meant. She is the whisperer. Although it was never shown or addressed, Westeros' poor/normies slowly feel Aegon is not the King they want, especially after what he did to the ratcatchers. And now the taking out a dragon? It's an Omen to the normies. So sow divide among them, and you slowly see that doubt seeping into the Throne room too. Remember when Daemon took Rhaenyra to show how the people spoke of her initially? We'll see that happen to the Throne. They no longer care if its a Man ruling, they want MEAT, peace, stability and they feel the gods are doing this to them
11:47 Rebellion in kings landing! XD The unrest can go up from hunger. Sometimes the guard can be a meal.
Alicent getting the taste of her own medicine MISOGYNY 😂😂😂
Interesting how Misaria uses the enemy's mistake to think a move: "Ser Criston made a mistake...."
I think you guys are turning into my favorite reactors. Especially the girl.
Claire Kilmer is one of the best directors on House of the Dragon, love her, her episodes are beautiful made
