In season 1, when they get new uniforms Ebraheim is also very hesitant. He mentions he was in a brigade once and that people died. I believe he mentions that he's from Somalia as well, so maybe a refuge with some bad experience with the military. Hopefully we get more from his character in season 3, because it's very interesting
Yeah I think Ibra has a bunch of traumas. They might have played the uniform thing off for laughs but it's obviously from his experience of war. Who knows what the school thing is about. Felt for him.
He's pretty old, he spent his younger years directly involved in the Somalian civil war, managed to claw his way into the US as a refugee and got a stable-ish job making sandwiches. You can actually teach an old dog new tricks, if they're willing, but you can't force an old dog who knew suffering into adversity. He's willing to learn and adapt, that's how he survived, but the intense pressure of a culinary school is destabilizing to the safe haven he built for himself.
@@turtlepope7802 I think in addition to the mental trauma that he has some nerve or other damage in his hands/arms, given the difficulties he has with his knife skills in the episode. 😢
Matty and Ebon smooched at an award show and there is nothing that could convince me that the scene on the ladders didn't involve several takes where they broke and smooched then first.

carmy earlier in the episode said a # finishing in 01 but gave claire one ending in 02, so I think Morgan's right, it was definitely important
