The opening monologue with Carmy is one of my favorite scenes of the series so far. Like Morgan said, the way the director shot the scene made the audience feel like they were right there with Carmy. Jeremy Allen White really did a great job in that scene.
I think Michael knew that even with all this money it wouldn't be him to use it wisely, so he hid it away for Carmy to come and actually make something good of the place
I'm annoyed that neither Sydney or Marcus admitted or owned up to the fact that they created the issue. Marcus blew the power out of the restaurant a couple episodes and Carmy said you have to get your job done, Marcus said "heard" then got so fixated on his donut dreams that he didn't get his job done. Then he threw a little fit about being called out. Sydney told Carmy he needed to listen to her, but every time she brought up To Go Menu, Carmy told her they didn't have the infrastructure for it. She did it anyway, they weren't ready for it, she got mad and waked out AGAIN without owning any of her own behavior. So Carmy apologizes to both of them??
The money being saved is genuinely one of the greatest plot twists in recent times, after nothing but getting punched down then even Richie getting arrested protecting carm leaving him to use their savings. You don’t really know where the end is going
It sucks that the strikes delayed the award season. That last shot of JAW and Jon Bernthal is 💯 I’m so happy you included the whole monologue. The first episode can was a different size. 😉
They killed it this year, sweeping the “comedy” category but that’s a whole other topic as to whether it should be in that category…I think only the Emmys are behind in considering The Bear season 1 only in the latest awards season. Everywhere else considered season 2.
Great reaction ladies. I love how this episode/season ended. Till now they had all been treading water for so long, beginning to go under, but Mikey threw them all a lifeline, and there is a genuine hope for all of them. Great stuff. Can't wait for the second season reactions.

Jeremy Allen White has mentioned in an interview that the can in the pilot did probably have $5k in it. I don’t think the creators or anyone else has disagreed with that either online, so as of now, that could be taken as truth.
Dany you 100% get the credit. You said something along the lines of maybe there's a treasure map in Mikey's letter back in episode 2. And it's practically what it is. Minus the long scavenger hunt. Turns out it's just under their noses!
I think it can be said that Mikey cut Carmy out of the restaurant and distanced himself from him because he didn't want him to be exposed to the struggles/negativity associated with the business and what he was going through mentally. And he left him the restaurant and the money so Carmy could mold it into his own thing.
Michael hid the money in the cans because if the money was in an obvious spot like a bank account or something when he dies the money would be taxed and the remainder would be given to Cicero. This way Michael hoped Carmen would be able to find the money and rebuild the restaurant his own way. Unfortunately he underestimated the amount of money needed for the kind of restaurant Carmen wants which is why in S2 they ask Ciciro for more.
Wild that they get away as if they weren't principally involved in what went down and it was just Carmy's fault for reacting the way he did. Absolutely wild.
We never see on screen Carmy apologize for the cigarettes for episode 2, or Tina apologizing for messing with Syd’s stock in episode 3. People tend not to bring up those examples for some reason.

Mikey wasn't just a drug addict, he was severely depressed so I don't think that he ghosted Carmy because he thought Carmy deserved better or whatnot but because it was the easier thing to do. From my experience actually confronting depression can be extremely hard, embarassing and scary as shit. Mikey loved Carmen and he wanted to have a relationship, a restraunt or just simply time with him but having that would've meant he would have to face his depressions because if he wouldn't do that he would take Carmy down with him. Depression makes you comfortable (not lazy or anything but it has this weird comfort to be miserable all the time and saying to yourself that you can't do anything about it, it's horrible), selfish (everything evolves around you and is out to get you, even thinking about other is reflected back onto you) and scared. Mikey, from what we learned about him in season 1, was all of that while keeping up his mask. His head probably almost bursted with keeping up everything that keeping Carmen away was just the easiest (and emotionally hardest) way to deal with it, Mikey wasn't a selfless hero, he was an incredibly flawd man. That's why the show is so amazing, all of the people in this show are flawed humans. Even Sydney (I know the 3 girls don't want to see that lol) but her behavior in episode 7 was selfish and childish and she couldn't handle the consequences of it. Her acting the way she does in this episode shows that she didn't learn anything which is pretty sad. She still is the young and impatient cook she was in the beginning and she needs to work on herself so she can become the cook she wants to be.
