@NikkiStevenReact - FALLOUT asap! :]
The scenes of Carmen talking about his brother at the meeting and then seeing Michael at the end smiling at him never fail to make me tear up.😭
Literally EVERY TIMEEE
John bernthal is fire
Richie saying “you’re all I got cuz” is so heartbreaking
"What's my purpose?"
@@brettcloud8550 whenever i get side-tracked or lazy, i now hear Carmy shouting "Purpose, chef!"
@@brettcloud8550 SHHHHH...
@@dtgstl3148 oh stop it, there's absolutely nothing to extrapolate from.
@@brettcloud8550 I'm just giving you a hard time. It's exciting knowing what's coming before the reactors get to it.
That monologue at the start was so impressive. About 6 minutes of dialogue uncut. Jeremy Allen White is so talented!
The closing shot of that comforting Mikey smile was peakest of the peak television.
I got seriously teary when Syd walked in and Carmy said "Family Style". BAM- ALL the "feels" hit me.
You can see why this show practically had a clean sweep at the Emmy’s for the cast and crew. Even wining Best “Comedy” series.
I think part of the reason the producers submitted the show in the Comedy category is because its average episode length is around 30 minutes, whereas most dramas tend to be closer to an hour per episode, and there are more comedic moments in this show than there are in most dramas. I also think they knew that submitting it as a Comedy meant they wouldn't have to compete directly with Succession for all the awards (Succession essentially swept all the Drama category awards at the last Emmys), so I imagine the choice was at least a bit strategic - it's unlikely it would have won as many awards if it had been submitted as a Drama.
A few years back, the Netflix show Orange is the New Black had a similar conundrum. It was initially submitted for consideration as a Comedy series, but at some point after the first season the show's producers decided to start submitting it as a Drama, even though the tone of the show remained essentially the same for its entire run.
@@dtgstl3148that’s true. Great breakdown
12:07 I saw a comment that mentioned that monologue was a eulogy, confession, and a epiphany rolled into one
I mean, it was... he talks about how great Mikey was and how much he loved him, he talks about how he kind of regrets moving away from his family to become a top chef, and he talks about how he sees everything more clearly now than he did before. It's perfect
He didn’t go to the funeral either so a lot for him to unpack in that monologue.
The opening monologue guaranteed the Emmy for Jeremy Allen White. He was great all season, but just killed it in that scene.
When actors submit their names or have their names submitted for Emmy consideration, they submit one specific episode that is the basis of choosing the nominees - Jeremy Allen White (obviously) submitted this episode to the Television Academy for his award consideration.
The sad part is I think Mikey knew and truly understood that he was a f*ck up and a lost cause. So in order for anything to improve with the lives of his family and friends in the restaurant he took himself out of the equation knowing fully that Carmy would do fantastic without him getting in the way.
That's my interpretation as well, he took the money from Cicero and hid it because he was already planning on doing it but he didn't want to leave Carmy in the shit and he knew Carm could do a better job than him
😢😭😭😭
Bear, short for their family name Berzatto, which I guess makes them (Mikey, Carmy, Sugar) all Bears.
As a person who worked in restaurants for many years i can tell you that i saw many moments that you would think people wouldn't come back from , but they did ,and sometimes they had many strikes against them , and still they came back . Including bosses that bailed out staff from jail . I saw everything from arguments to brawls. Sometime between customers, sometimes between staff , and sometimes between staff and customers. And high end restaurants were certainly not immune from the drama. All these years later i have an occasional dream where i am the only person servicing the customers, and i am so in the weeds , and the customers keep coming, and anxiety is so real , it's oppressive. But never do i think , ok i'm just going to leave . Wow i have been needing to get this out since episode one .
Season 2 gets even better... can't wait to watch it with y'all :)
The final sequence with Radiohead's "Let Down" as soundtrack never fails to make me teary-eyed. Beautiful episode.
So I'm someone who dips in and out of watching the genre of reaction content but your channel is one that I always come back to revisit. I'm so glad you two got around to reacting to The Bear! The enthusiasm with which you two engage in every show or film you decide to watch is utterly infectious and most importantly I'm in love with just how much empathy you show to stories where characters especially are dealing with hardships or pain. It really does touch my spirit to see you two being moved in the same way this show in particular moved me. Lots of love from the UK and looking forward to seeing your reactions to Season 2.
That final shot of Carmy/Mikey never fails to make me tear up. So fucking good 😭
That smile at the end by Michael and the music in the background… (chef’s kiss) PERFECTION! 💯🔥
“Let Down” by Radiohead
Yes, Berzatto is exactly where the nickname "Bear" comes from. It's a family nickname - they all call each other "Bear" (Natalie gets called "bear" a few times in S2).
God damnit I love this show so much. You guys are absolutely going to love season 2.
The soundtrack to this show is always amazing, but the Radiohead drop at the end of this episode is absolutely perfect. I love your reactions guys, thank you.
You two are gonna love the whole shift moving forward into season 2 I can’t wait to see yal’s reactions to the changes
Believe it or not, but season 2 is a whole other level (especially the second half)
That second half especially is just *chefs kiss*
Second half is peak storytelling
The ending really touched my heart
So good
This show is so damn special. It touches on every possible hardship that a person can deal with in such a real way.
The ending shot of this episode is one of the greatest things ever put to film. Season 1 in general was masterful and somehow they topped it with season 2.
I'm not crying, you are!
the cans he threw out at the beginning werent KBL cans (small cans) Carmy would always go for the big cans he alluded to earlier of why he would Mikey would even buy smaller cans.
Pretty sure they classified this as a comedy so that it didn't/doesn't have to go up against Succession and other prestige dramas and can still sweep the awards. Which it did this year for season 1.
Nope - it's classified as a comedy because it's in the ~30 minutes category and not the ~1 hour category. That's how they divide them -- which used to work a million years ago when those were the rules for genre format and there were only three networks and no cable. The industry really needs to fix it, but it's hard to turn something that big in another direction with any kind of speed.
@@tzikehrusso2097 The showrunners decide how to submit the show - the producers of The Bear specifically chose for it to be considered in the Comedy categories.
The show Orange is the New Black was submitted to the Television Academy as a Comedy for its first season by Netflix (and was nominated in the Outstanding Comedy category), and then submitted as a Drama for its second season (and was nominated that year in the Outstanding Drama category) and every subsequent season after that. The average episode length didn't change between the first and second seasons - roughly 60 minutes per episode for both seasons - nor did the tone of the show. It changed categories only because the producers chose to submit it in different categories. If FX, Hulu, or showrunner Chris Storer wanted The Bear to be considered in the Drama categories, they would submit the show in those categories. The Television Academy does get the final say on whether a show should be considered a Comedy or Drama, but for shows that have both heavy comedic and dramatic elements (dramedies), they'll generally defer to the producer's choice on how the show should be considered. Succession theoretically could have submitted itself as a Comedy if the producers had wanted to, but they felt confident that the show could be a strong contender in the Drama category despite being arguably the funniest nominee in the category every year.
All that said, the actors, writers, and directors don't get to diverge from the category the show itself has been submitted in - if the producers want the show to be considered for Outstanding Comedy, then the actors must submit themselves for Outstanding Lead/Supporting Actor/Actress for a Comedy as well.
in my headspace, i will always classify it as a dramedy whatever it may be. 😄
Yes - Michael hid the money. The letter with "Let it rip" was like what people knew he'd always say, at least within the family. It was his final "gift" to Carmi 😥💜
The monologue was what won JAW his first award. I can't wait for you guys to start season 2!!! So many great surprises!
I haven't been invested in any TV shows for a few years now, and I'm not really someone who likes consuming new media anyways. After I convinced myself to start watching The Bear, I just remember feeling so blown away by how incredibly polished and heartfelt and brilliant every minute of this show feels. Like, I came out of it thinking "oh fuck, this is how you feel when you watch something done competently and with love and passion"
i’ve enjoyed watching your reactions to this so much and can’t wait to see what you think of season 2! SO many good episodes. but you pointing out mikey doing what he did to shield carmy really resonated with me. i was barely double digits when my alcoholic father began estranging himself. i was always told he was ashamed that he couldn’t get sober. but somehow it took you pointing out that maybe shame isn’t the only reason for an addict distancing themselves, that maybe addicts stay away because they’re attempting to protect others from what they’re dealing with. two decades after his death and this never occurred to me until you vocalized it. and it’s entirely possible because whatever else he ever was, he was always a great dad.
love that you guys love this show - hope you upload season 2 with a quickness!
that last shot of Mikey smiling at the camera always makes me tear up. I'm so excited for you guys to get into season 2. if you thought season 1 was amazing, season 2 is top-tier television.
*Fake Audience laughs* "This is a nightmare." lol
Y'all are so great, I love you guys. I'm not a patron or anything, but I just want to let you guys know that your channel has been a huge comfort to me over the past year of a pretty rough decade. I'm late to the party, as is the norm for me, but binging all your content this past year just made me wish I'd come across your channel ages ago. Thank you for your hard work and sharing pieces of your life with us, and for being really great examples of truly stand up human beings. CANNOT wait for season two!! All the feels. There's a specific scene with Pete that I've been dying to see Nikki's reaction to.
Not a dead fish Nikki lmfaooooooo

Remember when his daughter told him he was in her mom's phone as "Bad News" cause every time he calls it's always bad news? 😢
Poor Richie.
This episode felt so real, perfect ending of the first season 😢
This episode gets me every time.
I never fail to cry 😭
High praise for “Review” from you two. I think you will really 🩷 S2. That last shot of Carmy/Mikey is bittersweet.
The episode 1 can had a green band, it was a different size.
Alot of people bringing up that it's been classified as a comedy. I read somewhere that it had to be in that category because it's a half hour long show, not the typical hour long drama. Obviously it's more of a drama than comedy, but I think it had to be because of the run time.
First time I seen one of these vids this early 😂
Can't wait till you see the family dinner in Season 2.
All actors deliver such peak performances (10/10).
Especially Carmy's mom (12/10).
I don't want to spoil the name of the actress here. Just watch her performance.
Best thing I've seen so far. WOW!
This show is right up there with The Sopranos for me , right on par, The acting is next level.
This show is so good at breaking your heart and building it back up and warming it all in one perfectly crafted arc.
Omg let’s go!!! I’ve been waiting for this :)
Loved Carmy’s monologue. It was so well done! Jeremy killed it. Unbelievable how it was around seven minutes with no cuts. The way he expressed everything was delivered perfectly. Great writing and great performance on his part. It was very necessary for him to move forward.
As for the finale itself, it was such a great one. Everyone at the end smiling and laughing brings me to tears every time. I’m such a sucker for the found family trope. This show does a great job making you get attached to these characters. They mean so much to me and I love their wholesome but dysfunctional dynamic. It’s exactly what family is: Thoughtful chaos. Also, they all deserve the very best after all the struggles they had to go through. Anyway, this was simply satisfying and there’s a lot more great things coming your way in season 2, so brace yourselves for even more chaos and greatness. Also, I don’t know if you guys noticed this, but the pilot episode ended in such a clever way with Carmy throwing out the can of tomatoes. Here, we see him finally opening it and it really brings in that “full circle” moment to fruition. One of the finest shows on the air right now and I’m being so serious about this!!! It’s truly become one of my favorites. Definitely in the top 5. Thanks for your reactions to it. They always make my day 😭❤️
A film I think you guys would like is 'The hundred foot journey'. It also follows a cook, although it's definitely more chill than the bear lol!
I think you'll love Shameless.Jeremy Allen white is in it too. some great actors beside him too❤
I started watching "Shameless" because of Jeremy Allen White, but the rest of the cast is also terrific & so is "Shameless". Highly recommended.
I randomly came across this show, and thought. Hey a cooking show. I was blown away. Binged it so fast. Great work. Season 2 is a ride also.
Such a wonderful and thoughtful reaction to what has quickly become one of my favorite shows. I cannot wait for you to see season 2, which is honestly even better in every single way.
Beautiful finale. Super excited to see your reactions to season 2
I think Ritchie might be your favorite character next season. Just wait. Everyone evolves.
You gonna love the season 2 so much ❤❤❤
I love this show and you guys are great reactors. Hope you love season 2 just as much.
Guys I love you so much. I can't wait for you to see the second season. I send you a big hug from Mendoza, Argentina.
"This feels like a Bray Wyatt segment". I love the WWE reference. RIP Bray.
Not me tearing up at Mikey smiling. Stop.
When is SE2 of "The Bear" expected to begin ?
The SE1 finale got uploaded 13 days ago on June 11th.
I’m guessing with The Boys and HotD back, The Bear will be put on the back burner. (Pun intended).
Been waiting for this!
So good! Imagine if he made the spaghetti in the first episode. There would be no more episodes lol. Cant wait for you guys to see season 2.
Great reaction guys, thank you!
Fishes and forks reactions are gonna be generational.
Sorry for your loss of your friend. Love your reaction’s ❤
Thanks guys❤❤❤ be blessed and sorry
This f'kin show man
I cannot wait for you guys to react to Season 2
I can’t wait for them to see “that” episode in season 2
Probably the best finale I ever seen!
i thought carm threw away a can of money too but others have pointed out that he got the big can, and he was asking earlier on why Mikey used the smaller cans when the big can was more economical.
I absolutely cannot wait for you to watch season two episode six and season two episode seven. Some of the best television I’ve seen in a decade. 💯💯
Richie is in his ex’s phone as “Richie Bad News” and I think Richie’s call to his ex probably started as an “I’m in jail” call and he realized why he was Bad News to her. I think this was him trying to be better.
Let it rip
😢
@NikkiStevenReact Those last moments 😭
fx pumping out shows like the bear and shogun they’ve been killing it these past few years no lie
Not only is the show listed as a comedy, it has won Emmy Awards for a comedy series. Blows my mind. This is absolutely NOT a comedy. It's more like a Better Call Saul level drama with comedy sprinkled in for accent.
When I wrapped up the first season of this show (and was wiping some subtle tears off my cheeks), I started chuckling and was recalling someone recommending it to me, saying it was a fantastic comedy they had recently watched.
I was like…a COMEDY?? You call this a comedy?? Ma’am…agree to disagree here. Wonderful show, but I’ll never refer to this as a freaking comedy LOL
its a comedy to Chicagoans for sure...guess our humor is different
Can't wait to watch you both react to season 2.
Oh, I loved the Bray Wyatt comparison at the beginning. Well done, guys..
You gonna love the second season
This show being a "comedy" has nothing to do with the content itself, but with the duration (comedies usually have half-hour episodes) and with the fact that FX simply decided to label it as a comedy, most likely to have more chances at awards. That surely worked, because the first season got ten Emmys.
Let it rip❤❤❤
Carmya actor did an amazing job especially for that 7 minute one shot dialogue scene
Great first season, but season 2 is even better!
I LOVE THIS SHOW
IMDb has it listed as a Comedy and a Drama, the listings fall alphabetically.
The cans he threw out weren’t the same one. (I think) but he did even mentioned in the first episode saying why aren’t we using the bigger ones thats saves us money
Waiting for this one
if you thought this season was good, just wait for next season. It has 3 of the best episodes i have seen in a long time when it comes to television
Huge fan of your channel! I'm not sure if you're looking for more shows, but I would love to see you guys react to "Mr. Robot". It's an incredible show that's criminally underwatched. Also True Detective Season 1. Some of the best 8 episodes of television , in my opinion.
Is Season 2 coming? I love your reactions to The Bear. Feels overdue. Hope all is ok
Yeah, back this week... we just got backed up with other stuff.
They didn't throw the cans of tomatoes away.
and the Richie redemption arc begins...
It still doesn't sit well with me that Marcus and Syd didn't apologize too. Carmy owed them an apology, absolutely. But so did they in my opinion.
Anyway, one of the best first seasons of a show I've ever watched. It's so different and good.
Steve, I agree with you about the genre of this show. It is totally more of drama compared to a comedy.
I love Ritchie lol I always go for the most broken asshole in the room tho
Girl same😂
WATCH SEASON 2 NOWW 😂. you will love it even more than this season
Loved your reaction as always. You should watch society of the snow please. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing

Is the "Ballbreaker" arcade game becoming self aware or was that just Fak having a conversation in his mind with the arcade?
One thing about the Ballbreaker conversation is that it is Paul Rudd who did the voice over on that.
PLEASE please please react to Burnt! You will love it because you loved this.
Hello Nikki & Steven! 😊 Do you guys plan to watch Godzilla Minus One? It’s a movie that came out last year in 2023. It’s extremely good.
yall didnt notice paul rudd's voice?
