also pete crying isn’t meant to imply ‘bitchiness’ or anything. taking into account the conversation he just had with donna, the whole family history & trauma! it’s a lot🥺😢i’d be a constant wreck if i married into a family like that. just the human aspect of it all. that’s why this show is great, it feels so real!❤
Donna and Pete are two opposite forces. Donna is a joy vampire that can suck all the happiness out of a room. Pete is perpetually positive and only sees the bright side of things, even when being picked on and attacked by the Berzatto family. But Pete's powers were no match for Donna. She didn't even have to attack him, just show him the depths of trauma and sorrow that she carries inside. It was too much even for positive Pete to handle and he broke.
The most painful part of it all is, they know each other so well they know how to hurt each other. Richie calls Carmy Donna because he knows Carmy hates the idea of being like his mom. Carmy goes for Richie's daughter because he knows his relationship with her isn't good. Carmy says "you need me" as a callback to when he bailed Richie out of jail and Richie said "you're all I got". Richie goes for Mikey. If you hate someone you don't necessarily know how to hurt them. But if you love a person, you know what hurts them.
Also, Donna's scene broke my heart. "I love them so much, and I'm so proud of them, but I don't know how to show it." I know a lot of parents have thought that at least once in their life. Lord knows I have 😢
I remember watching this for the first time months ago and being an absolute tears for most of the episode. So glad this show wins awards because it absolutely deserves too
Me too I watched all 3 seasons in like two weeks span the show is amazing this episode and the Fishes episode were my top two for sure ! So many emotions!
Funniest part of this show to me was "86 josh".This came out about 2 weeks before my Kitchen manager "josh" was fired. No one else at work watched this until after he was fired.
Funniest part for me is the fact that this mf Josh smoking crack in the alley during opening night is perhaps the most realistic bit of a pretty realistic show
Notice the mom wanted Pete to reassure her to tell her it's okay, but while at the xmas dinner, she was upset with sugar for asking, "Are you ok" any thoughts on that?
I have a theory that it's because it's easy to use Sugar as a punching bag. Ppl that usually display abusive behavior when dealing with alcohol or dependency have a tendency to lash out at the ones they love [family]. Sugar seems to always be the rescuer/codependent in their relationship. [Not a licensed professional]
The music cues, baby! "Spiders" by Wilco playing in the background. Same song that was in last season when the pre-orders turned shit sideways for The Beef. And instead of the song growing more intense, it flatlines when Richie starts driving the orders and becomes an "Animal"! Goddamnit, I love this show so much!
The way the music shifts from background music to diegetic music as they move from BOH to FOH? Brilliant. The way the BOH music is rhythmic like a clock, with the key floating up and down, because "every second counts"? Perfect.
Bump it, I finally gotta break down and subscribe. I’m not into anime but the few shows you all have covered that I watch I gotta make sure I’m not missing out on. Most of the reactors I watch I don’t stick around for the end commentary but yall always come with some new, thoughtful insights for me

I think his point was that Nat saw Pete crying and was like "yeah, that's normal for him."

Hi guys the chocolate banana Jimmy received is a call back to the Xmas dinner episode. The dessert reminds him of his dad. Richie remembered
I think that Richie calling Carmy Donna was dead on target.

I love how Richie has gone from Rick to Richard to Young Man to Mr. Jerimovich with Uncle.

"Where were you when we put your brother in the ground?"
Richie had been holding onto that one for a LONG time.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@ray24051 oh bruv, I was the last one sticking up for him too. When the new manager pointed it out I fell over laughing.

@pabloc8808 The josh I referred to had a coke pinky nail...

You guys have perfect timing you finished the season in front of The season 3 premiere tonight!
The music cues, baby!

i don’t think sugar intended to not tell donna. she probably wanted it to be a surprise 😢
Sugar was probably planning on telling Donna together with Pete at dinner, or see how it went and tell her afterwards 😔 I felt so bad for Pete
God I love Pete.
Great reaction and insight.
Ridhie, drive
Neil, you're nice, just be nice
